Well I finally got my PSP

THIS SUCKS!!!!

The one I got has firmware 1.51, not 1.50

I also thought that the SD cards would work with it, THEY DON'T!!!!!

I have a ONE GIG card that I CAN'T use with this system. The guy at Best Buy said it would work with the system, it doesn't fit in the slot.

My computer doesn't even recognize it as a removable hardrive when it's in the usb port.

I said it once and I'll say it again: THIS SUCKS!!!!

:pinch: :o :(

A) They will probably come with the latest firmware now, or at least highr than 1.50

B) You need a Memory Stick Pro Duo to use wit hteh PSP and not an SD card

C) You need to enable "USB Connection" in the settings menu on the PSP for the computer to recognise it when it's plugged in, and you need a memory stick in :p

Don't give me :p face

A. The point of the firmware is that the hacked games only work with the 1.50 or under versions of the firmware.

B. The guy at Best Buy told me the SD memory card would work with the PSP and for some reason I believed him.

C. I put my PSP on the USB connection screen and my computer just doesn't recognize it.

I'm so damn upset, I have to save $70 to do what I originally thought I could with the memory card we already bought!!

B. "and for some reason I believed him.".....Best Buy? should have done your homework online also, for crying outloud you have places like neowin to do a quick search for an answer or you can ask, or a simple google/yahoo/[what ever] search would help.... no one to blame but yourself

C. what OS are you using

A. dont need to go over the firmware, its the version they gave you and nothing you can do about it for now

you should have researched it online, there's a way to tell the firmware version by looking at the box....and its common knowledge that it doesnt use SD cards :pinch:

Well I thought that nerds (paid nerds) at Best Buy might know better than the people on the internet but I guess I was wrong.

I'm using Windows XP and no window pop-up wizard seems to be helping my system notice the psp.

I'll just have to wait and see with the firmware.

Well Rudy I wasn't able to check the box because it wasn't on the shelf, I had to wait until they brought it to the check-out (after we paid for it)

Now I have to return my old one gig. card and save up about $60 for a new card that will fit.

And to joekr I can post however many angry faces I want because I'm freakin' mad!!!

Dude, grow up. but seriously dont get your panties in a bind because the psp community will find a fix for the 1.51. all this really doesnt matter because all teh EMu stuff runs like ass because its so new and in a week the new firmware will be out with alot of new features that i am sure you will do nothing but bitch about.

Windows XP Professional

Hey shut up, I'm nobodies fool, I just got the wrong memory card (due to some bad advice) and I was unlucky with the firmware.

I'm just ****ed off that I can't run the cracked psp games on my card, I don't care about the emu junk because as you said it's full of glitches.

I'm not going to bitch about new firmware either because you can avoid updating rather easily and if you don't care about these cracks and hacks then it just makes the system run faster and makes it more secure.

A. Hehe, you shouldn't be posting that your intentions are running cracked, illegal games, you know? Plus, there'll be ways around that soon enough.

B. LMAO, didn't you read ANYTHING before buying? Before spending $250+ on a toy, you might as well read up a bit on it, geez.

C. Im pretty sure the PC won't recognize the PSP unless a memory Stick is on it. I get the distinct feeling you didn't read the manual either..........

Well, telling people to shut up isn't really the most effective way to get help, you know? If you want advice, you might as well be nice  As for the wrond memory card, don't blame the Best Buy dude: not reading up on a gadget you were about to buy is your own fault.

Agreed

Surely the Best Buy dude didn't pay for the memory stick... you did...

You bought the wrong stick ;)

If you don't want to help me and laugh in my face, you've managed to do that. I got the usb thing to work due to some mixed wires inside of my computer case, notice I'm not some stupid noob that went and got a $250 toy as you called it. The only mistake I made was getting the wrong memory card due to bad advice. I also know for a fact that Dazzla knows something about illegal games as well from some other posts he put down. Also notce I'm being rude ONLY to the people that are being rude to me and not helping me.

Fine, help me help you: what is it that you want? As far as I can tell, your post was just an ongoing lament on how you got the wrong memory card (even if it was on bad advice), and you got a Firmware that doesn't allow you to play hacked games. And then you went on to insult people. So please, tell me: what is it that you want answered?

this is going to sound a tad bit combative. but.. what the hell.

if you know so much about the psp "hacking" abilities then how come you didnt know about the memory card issue you overlooked?

its also very rude to tell people to shut up. esspecially when you are venting on a forum.

not once did you ask for help. you just wanted a soap box to stand on. what were you expecting? all the users to blindly take your side and celebrate your ignorance.

just drive to best buy and return the dam card. wait a few weeks and i bet everything will be fine with the firmware you have.

Turn the psp on, plug the usb in to the computer, and then into the psp. make sure you on then psp home menus, go to settings then on to usb connection, XP should then pick it up

Hope it helps

I fixed the problem with the usb connection, but thanks for the help Zim.tailor. Also if you really think it's rude to tell someone to shut-up when they were rude to you about your ego then we have different opinions (sorry about that). I also don't want to get technical like most of you have, I just needed some advice for problems I've already solved (which I recieved from Zim.tailor and my brother)

Nevermind the internet psp games, forget I said that all together

The only problem I have right now is where to find a cheap stick (I'm not made of money) of memory for the psp that's one gig. (I already found one that's $100 at Tigerdirect)

If you have a comment about where to find one, then please do so. If not then please don't take it out on me. Thanks (Err...celebrate my ignorance if you must)

Well I got the refund only it was in a Best Buy card because the package was open. Anyhow I can only look at Best Buy now for 1GB cards. I found this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1083716073008

Tell me though, will the memory stick pro card I picked out hang out of the PSP when you are put it in?? It looks like it might, lousy Sony.

No offence to you mate, but you are drawing much attention to urself and putting yourself out by sounding like a prick, ease up on the emotions will ya we get the point. how do you think i feel, i imported mine and i have 6 dead pixels.

And as for the illegal thing i dont see anything wrong with running SNES, NES, GBA stuff on your PSP providing that you own the stuff anyway, and yes i have a SNES and GBA :p hehehe only a few games for em though

As for illegal/cracked backups, well thats a different story, 1GB pro duo is needed for multiple ones, pain in the @$$ to install aswell, im not denying that i have not tried to install them, but im saygin i havent had much luck with the loaders and what have you that are flying about at the moment.

You need to buy a Memory stick Pro Duo for the PSP, not a memory stick pro.

586264063[/snapback]

That stinks! More money to save up. Ah well, at least I didn't buy it already or something thanks for the info. ReAnimation

Yeah your right Noveed, I sound like a prick (I'm really not), that really stinks with 6 dead pixels, do you still have a warranty though?

That's very interesting that you got some of the emulators and other games working on the psp. I however decided to try Sony's updates and so far I'm pleased with it. I hear that near the end of this month their going to come out with an update including a full-blown browser. Also when/if you update the UMD's load noticably faster along with just about everthing else.

I mean I'm not too displeased not having Doom or Quake with me on the go (honestly the maze of those games is just frustrating). I'd rather play them on my computer or other systems. It's good that your enjoying them on the go however.

Although I'd rather not draw attention to those illegal things flying about.

Ah man, now I'm limited to this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1108125653511

All the black sony one's (which cost less) are sold out.

Are you sure that the memory stick pro wouldn't just hang out of the psp? It even mentions the memory stick pro on the box that it came in.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
    • After I installed those, my older but capable Win 11 laptop (16GB RAM) reported it as 26H2 26300.8697. Then I installed it on my big laptop (128GB RAM! Hehe sorry), it reported it as 25H2 26220.8690. Ugh. Do I have to switch Insiders channels from Release to Beta?
