I was considering purchasing one if it had a G5, but since it doesn't there is no chance. At work I use a dual 1.25GHz G4 system and dreamweaver and Photoshop get slow at times. I have no problem with Illustrator or InDesign though. After my experience with using a dual G4 system there is no way I iwll purchase a single G4 system.

I worked on a dual 2GHz G5 system for a few months and that was comparable to my PC I own. We just received our new dual 1.8GHz G5 system with 1GB of ram at work, and there is a huge difference between that and the dual G4 system, they are side-by-side so it is easy to compare. I use the same software at home that I use at work, and apps run much better on my PC then the dual G4 system and about the same as on the dual G5 system.

I got used to how OS X allows for multiple windows from different apps to be right there, like how the dreamweaver 4 workspace is on the PC. That is why I wanted to get one.

For those who want a mac just to be able to use OS X, the novelty wears off rather quickly. For a media center, I'd rather put together a dedicated linux box for that, which can be done for easily less than $500. And my PC is an Intel 2.4GHz 533fsb with 512MB of pc2700 ram and a 64MB ti4200 vid card. So my PC is by no means a top of the line, but compared to a top of line mac it sticks right with it for running the Adobe CS apps which I have to use.

What I want to know is if it will be upgradeable? I mean I can find parts for much cheaper than what they are charging on the Apple store. I can't find any pictures of a case lock or switch so Im thinking it may be sealed up tighter than a nun's ######.

If you check that page, it shows a picture of the Mac mini opened up. It looks like you slide the top part upward to open it up.

If so, I'm buying this and a huge hard drive :)

well im gonna get a powerbook for college in bout a year and a half so i thinks ill get one of these, one cause i need a nice school computer in my room and i need to learn osx. And i actually raelly like it, lol. Ive already customized mine with more ram and an apple keyboard and mouse so im ready to go come the 22nd. i thinks ill do the montly payments since im unemployed but i do get money every once in a while, lol. It will be my first modern mac i guess one could say, i have a LCII and LCIII but i dont know if they count, heh

Excuse me, Mr. Jobs. I'd like to thank you, because you shut me up.

I will be purchasing a Mac Mini in February, and dumping my laptop to the first person to flash some cash. I've been a troll for many years, until now, I've become a poster-child for this campaign. I purchased an iPod, and I want more. I want to be a stereo-typical Macintosh money launderer. I want an iPod Shuffle, and I need a Mac.

If I didn't already have a couple Macs I would.....

But I think a lot of people will be turned off by this thing for the following reason: its small size. I know the size of a computer has little to do with its potential/power. But I feel the average consumer will think twice before spending $499 on such a physically small machine. When they see a big Dell, they think "Wow, that thing must be powerful." When they see the mini, they might ask "where's the rest?"

BTW, I own a G3 snow iBook and a PowerMac G3 B&W and I love them both.

Just my two cents

I am working on a project which involves a Mac driving a 52" HDTV. I was going to use a PowerMac, but the Mac mini seems to be perfect for this. :woot:

I also know at least 3 people who will get one once I tell them about it, and I might get one myself in a couple of months to match my 20" Cinema Display.

    • For a guy who claims to hate Farage and the ignorant, gullible, rightwing racist skinheads sponsored by Putin that his lies represent, you sure are quoting them time and time and time again, mate. I guess you're conveniently ignoring the fact that your country and commonwealth just happened to work much better when it was still part of the E.U.? Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
    • Do you live in the U.K? Do any of the people here that are against the UK leaving the E.U, live in the U.K? If not then why are you bothered? If you do live here then it is a different thing . Brexit was a good idea, should have done it years before, it was done badly, but the idea was good. You are saying the same thing as remainers do, oh we did what Putin wanted, we listened to the lies and Farage. I hate Farage and never believed most of what he said, certainly did not believe the £350m a week for the NHS. But we did pay a lot of money to the E.U and yes some of it came back, but what is the point of paying it out for only some of it to come back? Get out of the E.U, no money to them and in theory we can use the money to do things in the country. I said in theory, but our governments are a total and complete waste of space. No matter what colour rosette they wear. You and others say it was a mistake and yet the two main parties in the U.K are not looking at rejoining the EU, I wonder why that is? I was not tricked by anyone. Makes no odds now, we are out and have been for 10 years, what we need is a decent government to run the country. All they do is shout at each other like a load of kids and seems to do nothing and make this country more into a police and nanny state. Getting more like China all the time.
    • 4TB TEAMGROUP MP44Q, 2TB T-Force G50, and 2TB WD My Passport SSDs drop to great prices by Fiza Ali Prime Day may be over, but there are still worthwhile storage deals available, including discounts on SSDs for shoppers who missed the event or are looking to upgrade their storage solution. Particularly, 2TB Western Digital My Passport, 2TB TEAMGROUP T-Force G50, and 4TB TEAMGROUP MP44Q SSD are selling at great prices with up to 23% off. The 2TB TEAMGROUP T-Force G50 is an M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD with sequential read speeds of up to 5,000MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 4,500MB/s. The drive has an endurance rating of 1,300 TBW (terabytes written) and features a DRAM-less design. The company specifies a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 3 million hours. • Yeah... The root of my comment, ostensibly, is how to spin the story via the actual technical merits of the solution! * Decentralized (aka federated) solution with built-in encrypted ephemeral message transport, * Transport via Relays (intermediary servers) with no message archival, * Second configurable pathway are actual email servers (if DNS records are programmed accordingly) via IMAP protocols carriage, * "Chat-over-Email" is the design pattern adopted; it can either leverage full-blown Email Server (must use the INBOX folder) to exchange all received messages/edits/reactions (so be weary of notifications overloads) [best practice is creating a separate email acct used explicitly for federated chat purposes!] or leverage its built-in Relay Server mechanism which actually resides on-device (by default but can be configured otherwise), * By virtue of be a decentralized/federated model, all other intermediary servers who may pass-along messages (while the recipient's final relay/device is inaccessible) cannot snoop on the messages due to the encrypted nature of contents. The intermediaries may, however, analyze the metadata due to the simple fact that routing mechanisms require hints for relay destinations. Unfortunately, whomever is posting about DeltaChat across socials are misleading with "zero metadata" claims -- especially when the Relays (according to their own technical documents) mandate the addition of chat-version metadata and other decorations in order to actually transport any message. -- Based on this summary, I'd prefer if they'd better dual-path message transport (email server add-in, federated relay engine) rather than patch-on email protocols to existing federated social media frameworks. They're frankensteining something rather than extending widely-deployed technology stacks.
