Sheesh, didn't I say it clearly enough, its printed in black and white a little way back on the thred, particularly posts refering to Sp1 1097 and slipstreaming. Peeps were going on about needing to replace this or that file, but all the while (particularly from 1097) it wasn't even necessary. Try it and find out.

Media centre will require a specialised media/TV card, but as ever some hardware manufacturer or other will release a compatable version. They always do.

Didn't notice that until I read this thread, now it loads up almost instantly.

Did I try it out? No but i know of several people who have since then and they report no problems. To be honest I've had it up to the chin with this slipstreaming debate - what is it now something like 20 or more of them in the last couple of months? I'll wait till final now and find something else to play with in the meantime. It will be nice when all this is over and my machine is no longer in a permanant state of beta limbo.

  • 3 weeks later...

hey guys, i just found out that hackers have made a patch for SP1 saying that it can allow you to make copies of XP again where SP1 closed that up. but i haven't heard if it has worked at all, i'm running SP1 slipstreamed, and all systems fine here ;)

try switching to the regular xp theme (luna or classic) and try again.

but i don't know if you should have done this before installing sp1 or if you can do it after...

It has to do with most all of KoL's themes (no offense), switch to a different theme like classic or something and you should be fine.

KoL knows about the problem and has not reached a conclusion yet I assume :)

It has NOTHING to do with KoL's themes. Be careful srg311 of placing blame like that.

The problem is with your uxtheme.dll. Go to fileconnect.net and do a search for the new uxtheme.dll that matches your SP1 version number, for instance, if you're running SP1 final (1106), you're going to want uxtheme.dll with the version number 2600.1106. Alternatively, e-mail me at bruhn@ozzienet.net and I'll send it to you.

BananaMan,

What is checksum of the no problem 1106 uxtheme.dll and exact file size. I'd like to know if i have a 'good' one or not.

Also...there is a rumor that uxtheme.dll leads to explorer.exe crashing.....could just be a rumor tho...dunno..

I haven't installed the SP yet, but I do have the hacked uxtheme.dll (the old one). And my explorer.exe has been crashing quite often lately since I changed to a different Visual Style. The name of my current Visual Style is Blue Chrome in case anyone is wondering.

BananaMan:

I havent hack the uxtheme.dll but i did install stylexp and the only themes i have beside luna are themes from Kol and I did get that error in add/remove programs, so i pressume that the problem is w/Kol's themes, i read in the customizing forum that in fact is a problem with kol themes and that he has been informed and the problem relies in the shellstyle not the uxtheme.dll

The solutions to your problems can be found on that thread

https://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.ph...&threadid=44357

there's nothing wrong with KoL themes, it's only a problem of folder names, and how SP1 look for the the shellstyle.dll

well it wasn't that WPA was really cracked so much as sidestepped by the corp. version
