How many people are in the Neowin guild now? I just got another ?5 towards my router so now I only need 15. I'll scrounge it from somewhere then all I need to do is buy the game and I want to join the guild.

I generally level quite quickly although I havn't been playing game slaot recently due to lack of time, I'm very competetive and hence wouldn't want to join a guild that doesn't want to get anywhere, although I find games aren't just for competition, they're mainly for fun. What's neowins guild like i.e. what are it's aims? And what are everyone's levels within the guild, would being a level 2 or 3 mean I wouldn't be able to meet up until post seer Ascalon?

Several, there are so many guilds that people just join random ones. I would like others to join, but I don't actively recruit.

I'm level 14, and we're looking at doing pvp once people develop their characters and get to level 20. After all, you need some skills to do it, so for now, it's only pve.

We're not a supremely competitive guild, nor are we the "official neowin guild" although we were started by neowin members. If you're looking to join an uberl337 guild that pwns everything, then I'm afraid I'd be giving you the wrong impression, but if you're looking for a guild that's currently more or less laid back, 3-4 people on at a time (usually, total number of people is about 13), then feel free to join us.

About the Collectors Edition:

Is the headphone mic device supplied w/ the game any good?

It mentions on the box that the game comes w/ a few free months of service w/ TeamSpeak.

Does that mean speaking w/ a microphone isn't natively supported in the game?

You have to use a 3rd party program to talk to other players?

TIA,

-Quickstrike

Yes, 3rd party is required, but how many games do have native microphone support?

Ok heres where I found the fragon sword, but its a bit weak, I saw far better dragon swords with special stats, usually they sell for around ~6000 gold, take or add, mine would only sell for around 1500, imo. But it looks really good and matches my armour and shield :woot:

Note the arrow pointing to the red arear I coloured in, just outside the town.

@ Matt, who's the chic in the sig?

Back on topic: As those are actual screenshots what setup is everyone using. I've got a 9600pro and I know it'll run the game, but how well?

585880750[/snapback]

I am running the game on 2500xp, 512 ram, 6600gt, and it runs great and imo you should have no problems either, but might lag in areas with heavy fights.

It's a great game, I've got it for a week now and I currently have a vacation so I'm enjoying it a lot

I'm a lvl 19 Ranger/Warrior, which isn't a really good combination if you ask me, I've only been using the Ranger skills :)

Also a little for the people that like to take screenshots, if you use Shift + Print Screen, you'll get a clean screenshot, without windows, stat bars, etc :)

Oh man thanks for tip. I have been trying to remove those damn windows by just closing them.

Also I spent 3 plat on my last armor upgrades so coming by money is not that hard. The best is to find rare materials and find someone to buy them for a high price.

where do you find rare items?

i never was able to find any rare items so far

Make a party, go on a mission. So far I've found 2 gold/yellow items and a bunch of other rare items/weapons. Salvaged most of them for the runes and mats. Got about 3000g worth of materials only.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
