Well, I open Photoshop for screenshots all the time, perhaps for quality assurance.

The thing is Microsoft rarely uses the word "Alpha," or maybe they did once. But it seems that "Technical Preview" for alpha testing and "Public Preview" for beta are their favourite words at least for the moment. :unsure:

i do it all the time in photoshop CS as it offers the best compression algorithms. it doesn't mean it's fake by any stretch of the means
