Thanks, already did though. Didn't care too much for the vocals. I wasn't really planning on posting things I don't like about the bands though, since as I said, I'm incredibly picky about death metal. The vocals just have to feel good I guess, like.. the growl and regular singing (clean singing as someone called it?) if there is any.

Insomnium though, doesn't really have vocals lol. I mean, it's there, but it's much more of a background role. Probably why it was easy to get used to them. :p

I'll stick around though~

Maybe give Opeth a try? I'm not sure if you have checked them out, but they have an incredible mix of growl/clean vocals that seem to match the music perfectly. Most of their songs are around the 10 min mark to, so it makes for some good driving music. ;)

You might want to check out Amon Amarth as well - good ole Viking Metal. Songs about war, ships, swords, and spears....classic.

Opeth ****ing rules. Fantastic band.

If you don't like them, you're a ****ing retard. -Mikael Akerfeldt

I remember someone posting something in this thread, or it may have been another thread, about a site where you can go and sing or hum the song and it'll find the song for you. Does anyone have any idea, because I don't remember the name of the site.

I believe Midomi is the site you're thinking of.

Seeing DevilDriver on Wednesday :D Really looking forward to it. Support bands are Behemoth, Suicide Silence, Trigger The Bloodshed & Malefice. I'm only really there for DevilDriver again. I saw them last year and they were amazing, I was pretty much dead after them though when Opeth came on.

Actually finding myself enjoying Mistaken Element quite a bit! As someone mentioned, their vocals has a hint of Phil from Pantera. Loving it honestly.

Makes me miss Dimebag a bit though oddly enough.

Will have to let Opeth grow on me more. They're great musically and vocally. Just have to find some songs that really grab me.

Thanks for the suggestions people.

Opeth MORE than f**king rules!!! Akerfeld is a music genius, a wonderful songwriter, an awesome guitar player, and an incredible singer, the way he can sing like an angel for a second and growl like hell the second after...

Need recommendations, looking for bands similar to Summoning & Nokturnal Mortum (more specifically the album
)

I wish I could help you out - not really my style of music, but Nokturnal Mortum is not bad. Kinda dig the sound.

Yes, that is it, thanks!

You're welcome. :)

I haven't came across another band with the range of vocals the Akerfeld has. You nailed it, he can sing like an angel one verse, and growl like a demon the next and the music totally flows with it. They're amazing.

Throwing Boltthrower back out there - I think a lot of people would dig this band, the have unbelievable riffs, and an awesome death vocalist. The Killchain may be one of the best metal songs I have heard. Plus, that's an awesome name. :)

Hey guys. I very much enjoy Unquestionable Presence by Atheist and Archaeaeon by Mitochondrion. Can anyone make any recommendations similar to those "technical death metal" albums? Most metal doesn't interest me much, but they've really struck a chord.

Kataklysm

I know someone with similar taste to me that loves their album, Sorcery. I do not concur ...

Nice! Looking forward to hearing their new stuff. Anyone have an opinion on Meshuggah's Obzen? I've heard a few tracks off of it, the

and
- both are brutal. Should I pick it up?

    • Limited Prime Day deal sees Amazon Echo Show 11 is at its lowest price yet by Ivan Jenic The Amazon Echo Show 11 is currently $149.99 on Amazon during Prime Day, down from $219.99. That's 32% off and $70 saved on Amazon's newest mid-size smart display (purchase link below). As its name suggests, the Echo Show 11 features a 11” Full-HD touchscreen, which is a decent upgrade over the Echo Show 8. It offers 60% more viewing area, which makes a genuine difference for recipes, calendars, video calls, or any other scenario where the smaller display can feel a bit cramped. The Show 11 is built around Alexa+, Amazon's more capable AI assistant that can handle natural conversation. You can make reservations, order groceries, and find content based on your preferences, instead of always having to give it precise commands. There’s also the Omnisense technology, which adds ambient awareness, allowing the device to trigger routines based on temperature, presence detection, or visual cues. Smart home control is built in without needing a separate hub, and the home screen doubles as a photo slideshow when not in use. Taking all of this into account, the Show 11 is a perfect smart addition to your kitchen counter or living room. At $149.99, this is a strong Prime Day buy for anyone already in the Amazon ecosystem or looking to build one out.
