You know, if you shorten it up it could be Windows V (not the roman numeral, the letter), which sounds alright to me and is what I'll be calling it in my shop and to my customers.

Wasn't there rumors that Microsoft was not going to use "Windows" anymore?

This might be a different way to look at it,

Windows VIsta

VI=6=2006

Vista? What a stupid name, that's pathetic, I've actually noticed that Microsoft had some of the best names for products like "Visual Studio .NET", "Windows XP Proffesional", " Microsoft Works", stuff like that, and now Windows Vista?

Hopefully, this will be proven wrong tommorow. :yes:

If you look up the definition of Vista, it means this:

1. A distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening, as between rows of buildings or trees.

2. An avenue or other passage affording such a view.

Maybe the Bob Stein (The Microsoft Employee) was using 'Vista' as a word or phrase to describe that it is the Future Windows version that he can see 'over the horizon', not 'Vista' as an actual name.

It's also an English word...

Was never gonna be called Longhorn... That's a code name!

Xbox wasn't going to be called Xbox... It was only a code name.
