Official NHL 2005-2006 Season Thread

Although I'm happy for my fantasy hockey, that 10-4 Sens-Sabres game was the worst game of hockey I've ever seen. I'm sure some of you caught that.

Leafs will get in. They are in the most competitive conference and division, but they have more depth than people give them. At the start of the season everyone was jubilant that the Leafs were the worst Canadian team (I said, look at Edmonton and Calgary, they won't do as well as have been predicted). But the Leafs are competing well against tough Northwest opponents.

(That was painful to support the Leafs there, coming from a Vancouverite.)

Yes! Flames shut out the Canucks!

That was a great game, regardless of it's 1-0 score. I love it, instead of the 8-0 blowouts.

I saw the Flames goal before I went to bed. I'm glad I didn't miss anything. :D

Anybody want Jason Allison?

Apparently he's on the block and the Leafs are talking to other teams. He wants more ice time at centre, the Leafs want to move him to the wing.

He's also a minus player on a team full of minus players. Most of the few plus players we have are the kids (Steen, Stajan, Wellwood). Moving Allison would also give Wellwood more ice time. Toronto is full of centers.

Edit: No, this post could not be any choppier.

I heard the Montreal Toronto game was awesome too. Damned Toronto beat my Habs!

yeah, we had some people from calgary over and we were watching that game. they were cheering for toronto. everyone was cheering for toronto but two of us. i was pretty mad when the habs lost

To be blunt....

No!

Woot, Flames-Avalanche game was awesome! :D

Go Flames Go!

Flames win another 3-2 Minnesota.

They may be starting to come around after that slow start.

Federov and a 5th rounder goes to Columbus for Beauchemin and Tyler Wright

Quick-fix solution for Columbus? Won't work. They simply don't have the depth even to build around one player. Federov has done poorly, but expect him to get better this year. He's 35, so he won't challenge for the Art Ross, but he will provide more offence.

Isles beat the pens in the shootout! took em 9 rounds!

To be blunt, I couldn't care less. Ever since the shootouts were implemented and penalty shots became far more common, they aren't exciting. Just routine. I loved it when they were rare and exciting, and they could actually tie up or win the game, instead of adding another goal to the 7-2 lead.

Exactly. The NHL is going downhill. I'm 19 now, and am glad to have experienced hockey the way it should have been as a kid growing up.

Oh, and I love you avatar.

Thank you. :D

Search "NHL is dead" on Google Images and you will get some good pictures that quite illustrate my point.

You mean when the rich teams could buy all the talent, leaving no chance for the bottom rung teams? When scoring was so low, you may as well have been watching a soccer game? Yes, that WAS a great period in the NHL.

All I know is the Rangers have their lowes payroll since I can remember and they're doing the best they have in 7-8 years. First place 20 games in? :woot: And I like the much more even playing field in terms of revenue.

Indeed.

Let's see how they fare against Detroit tomorrow...

GO FLAMES GOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like they did pretty well.

Haha. The Leafs give up 15 shots during the first period with the benefit of an additional powerplay? Yikes. It wasn't like it was end-to-end action either and the Leafs themselves only managed 5 shots.

Edit: Now it's 4 to 1 for the Leafs in the 3rd period. Go figure.

Waiting for the Calagry game to come on. Only got 45 minutes left, hoping they'll set a team record and be only 1 game away from tying a Franchise record, back when they were in Atlanta.

Any watching the Flyers game, and see those two quick goals to tie it with 7:45 left in the second. Two goals in two shifts. 1:25 apart. And whoever scored it (can't spell the name) ties the league goal scorer.

    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.

    • We do it all the time on our IT Service desk mailbox to add a reference, in the subject line, once it's been logged and then it's filed into the appropriate sub-folder. Other companies probably do the same thing.
    • "No. The "New Outlook for Windows" does not support non-cloud mailboxes (such as on-premises Exchange servers). Furthermore, because the New Outlook effectively functions as a web-based client, it requires all connected accounts—even standard IMAP or POP accounts—to route and cache data through Microsoft's cloud servers. You can verify the accepted account setups using the Microsoft Supported Account Types Guide." Built to fail "New" Outlook is basically just webmail in a window wrapper and it's usefulness reflects that.
