Official NHL 2005-2006 Season Thread

As for Bertuzzi, when he had his big season a couple years ago, I said that he would never have that good of a season again. They should have traded him that summer for several young, great players. Maybe like Heatley and somebody else. Now he's not that valuable, because of his terrible season two years ago, his suspension, and his not doing well this season. I doubt he'll ever reach his top form again. If he does, all the power to him, but that was an observation I had two years ago.

I would have to agree with you there, although he is a very talented player i would say he is special like peter forsberg for example. Vancouver would have been better off trading him, it might have even benifitted Bertuzzi to move to a new city. Maybee he will form part of a trade with florida for luongo, who knows?

Wow Flames finally get to play again tonight. Man from a fan

point of view a week between games really sucked. But then

again from a player point of view it was probably welcomed.

Anyway GO FLAMES GO!!!!

So yeah, the Senators beat the Leafs last night 8-2. It's been a pretty shakey month for the Sens, losing three (against the Canucks, Flames, and Dallas Stars) out of five games. Oh well, I hope they lead a consistant season of wins.

Team USA has been announced.

Here's the team:

Fowards: Jason Blake, Erik Cole, Craig Conroy, Chris Drury, Brian Gionta, Scott Gomez, Bill Guerin, Mike Knuble, Mike Modano, Mark Parrish, Brian Rolston, Keith Tkachuk, and Doug Weight

Defensemen: Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher, Jordan Leopold, John-Michael Liles, Aaron Miller, Brian Rafalski, and Mathieu Scheider

Goalies: Rick DiPieto, Robert Esche, and John Grahame

They pick Chris Chelios, who will be 44 years old when the Winter Olympic starts, but left off Brian Leetch. That's bs.

 You guys don't stand a chance.

No worries Fred, your Leafs had a blast scoring nine goals against the Islanders.

Team USA looks pretty weak, but I suspect that they could hold their end against Latvia, France, or Norway if the ocassion rose. I'm rooting for Team Finland or Team Canada. I've got my Finnish hat right beside me!

R.I.P Phyllis Gretzky. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gretzky family over the holiday season.

Anyone here play the Sportsnet Fantasy Pool?

That would be a horrible idea, Bertuzzi and Naslund are the reason the Canucks are where they are. Those two are 100% chemistry.

Cloutier HAS to be apart of the Canucks move for another goaltender.

Canada adds an empty net goal to beat the United States at the World Juniors. Do we have a World Junior thread?

Toronto Maple Leaf prospect Justin Pogge was the player of the game for Canada.

The final score was 3-2, which would not normally be condusive to a empty net goal but due to an earlier tie with Switzerland, the United States needed a win today while Canada needed only a tie.

Both teams will advance but Canada earns a bye to the semi-finals while the United States will have to slug it out in the quarter-finals.

    • Here's how to watch Summer Game Fest 2026 and what to expect from the 2-hour showcase by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June game showcase schedule is packed, and with the Sony event already behind us, it's time for the next major presentation to come in swinging. Later today, Geoff Keighley will be bringing the 2026 edition of Summer Game Fest live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the Summer Game Fest showcase livestream will be kicking off at 2 PM PT | 5 PM ET | 10 PM BST later today, June 5. The jam-packed show is slated to run for about two hours, with platforms like YouTube (4K at 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, or X being available for catching it. Like in previous years, separate streams featuring American Sign Language and Descriptive Audio are available on YouTube as well. Keighley has only dropped a few teasers about what gaming fans can expect to see at the show. This includes a new look at Star Wars Zero Company from EA, a major announcement from Guild Wars developer ArenaNet, more Clutch gameplay, and some sort of Sega presence. As for fan expectations, there is hype building about a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 reveal here, and we might see new details about announced games like Alien Isolation 2 as well. If you want even more games, keep in mind that right after the main kickoff event, the Day of the Devs showcase will begin its own festivities at 4 pm PT | 7 pm ET. This is focused entirely on upcoming indie games. Following this, the next major games showcase is slated to happen on June 7. Here, Microsoft is bringing the big guns with its Xbox Games Showcase and Gears of War E-Day Direct. Check out the full calendar for all of the June events over here.
    • AI is destroying jobs like nothing before
    • I think the car analogy is more this: Left hand drive, basic commands on the left side of the infotainment screen. Right hand drive, basic commands on the right side of the infotainment screen. Granted, you're not swapping between the two often so it's doesn't really work. But it's to do with the proximity of you (your mouse, or the driver) to the controls.
    • I mean, the old one was broken and so stupidly complex for many users, so I don't see that as a feasible option. A context menu needs to be simple to use, and for me the Windows 11 style actually worked really well for me, and many others. I used to have to scroll the damn context menu just to get to "file properties" in Windows 10. That was not a good experience, and I'm sure you'd agree. What they're trying to do is make it the best of both worlds, as clearly you'd prefer the Win10 style. I'm curious how they're going to do this.
