thanks for heads up.. spotted this before the email. Downloading speed is almost at stand still.. Why dont MS use a private BitTorrent network to distribute, would certainly make sense after all the hammering their servers take on release days like today

because that'd make too much sense! :p

wow, I hate dl'in at 40kb/s when it should be goin ~10x that.. I wish microsoft would wise up about how it distributes its files

Well sharepoint designer 2007 didn't get any updates to the UI but that's all i got. The other didn't finish downloading yet.

EDIT: Finally at 8:27PM EST it started going again.

No way, that would promote LEGAL uses for Bittorrent and I doubt the MPAA and RIAA would like that!

F%@# the MPAA and the RIAA! LOL... I don't use BT or anything but i'm sure 90% of the people downloading movies don't get them from there. newsgroups and IRC is where most downloading occurs as far as i know (as well as some other p2p networks still alive out there)

Oh well, downloading stopped again. I wish i got on 20mins before i really did.

Exactly. Don't go showing how it can be used for good, legal reasons. It almost ****es me off thinking about the speeds we could all be getting if we were sharing with a torrent.

what's wrong with legal uses for Bittorrent? *LOL* Screw the MPAA and RIAA ... they can't hurt us Canucks

Well, hopefully this isn't as disappointing as office 12 beta. I tried writing an essay in o12. big mistake...

Yeah, I made mistakes like that several times. You gotta be thinking SAVE the whole time you are using the beta or else you could get yourself into trouble. I don't know if a lot of you have test machines to run things like that, but I usually just use my main PC. It's all good.

I never had any problem with the first beta (every single time it crashed, it recovers my documents, but as I see, I guess it didn't make so for everyone...)

Oh this usually happens when you do last minute homework ;) I was doing a spreadsheet in Excel and it kept crashing over and over.

I saw that "It appears that Microsoft Office is Crashing Frequently" box many many times while i was trying to finish my assignment hehe.

You needed to apply for an invitation quite a while back. I don't know if they would be letting any more people in. They might be and I could be wrong, but I think you are out of luck. :(

I wonder if they are going to do this in waves...I signed up for this the very first day the page went live...Even before the page processed anything I applied for it. Oh well...

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.

    • No thanks! WebView trash is unacceptable. I only use software that's native.
