Downloading at 500 KB/s, be done in abt 45 min!! :-)

Just one thing, i had received a product key for beta 2, but cant remember whether i activated it or not. will i be able to use the same key to install and activate RC1?

Finaly the download is complete after 10 hours. I burn it but because I don't have any key (not a CPP member) I want to make a multiboot configuration. I have XP Home. Can I install the Vista on the other hard drive I have without any risk of loosing the Xp home? What should I do? The vista help says that the only way for not to lose any file or program is to upgrade. If I install them in an other partition (clean installation) won' t I save my XP Home system files and programs? Please help!

Yes, what you're saying appears to be a workable scenario; you should be able to get a multiboot setup working just fine, with no data loss.

However, one would be wise to make a backup of any crucial data, as there is always the potential for things to go wrong. You don't have to, and thus far, I haven't heard of a data loss issue directly related to the install process (apart from users formatting the partition(s) with the data on it, of course...which can happen to the best of us...), but yeah.

Typically Microsoft's advice is to install it on a non-mission critical system, so if that's any indication of what responsibility they have for your data - none - make sure you keep that in mind.

That's exactly what I did - left my XP on C: alone and installed Vista on a freshly-formatted D: second drive.

You get a new boot-up menu for XP/Vista, then, if you select XP, you get the same startup menu you always had.

If you run the installer from XP, rather than booting from the DVD, you will be well protected from disturbing the (running) XP system. If you boot from the DVD you run the risk of making a silly mistake and overwiting the wrong disk!

Vista indeed look and feel great. A problem I have is that they don't support my audio max asus sound utility. And of course I have 14 days to register, I am waiting for the new opening for CPP. Has anyone tried calling the phone method for activation?

I've tried a couple of times but all I get is a little "music to keep you interested " and then the line goes dead. :(

I got through and they activated my copy with no questions asked.

I'll post this here, since this doesn't deserve an entirely new topic:

Anyone noticed how Parental Controls webpages blocking isn't just limited to Internet Explorer as some people might have thought it to be? Webpage blocking works perfectly fine in Firefox (except for the initial prompt that warns about the UAC protocol).

Hey, um.. I downloaded this but I guess I need a key to use it, I already know about the 14 day limitation thing but am interested in using it for more, is there any other way to get the key instead of being CPP? Can someone email me a key or something, or is this not allowed?

Also, I looked back a few pages and it said that they will be opening it up to customers for keys or something, um.. Does anyone know where that will be at, a link?

Have finally downloaded Vista x64 version and installed and working fine, but now asks to activate.

Missed out on trying Beta 2 (not sure if it was x64 as well) , so can some kind (trusting) person pm me a key so I can play around with this?

Any help greatly appreciated.

      Apple reluctantly forces strict new age checks on Texas users starting today by Paul Hill Apple will begin enforcing the Texas Age Assurance Law (SB 2420) following a recent court ruling that lifted an injunction on SB 2420. Starting June 4 (today), Apple will enforce strict age-verification and parental-consent rules for new Apple accounts created in Texas. This move will affect children under 18 who go to download apps or attempt to make in-app purchases. Apple previously expressed privacy concerns related to this law, but compliance is now mandatory for the company, nevertheless. Apple will use several APIs to follow the law. Principally, the Declared Age Range API will fetch the specific user age bracket (Under 13, 13-15, 16-17, or 18+) and a verification method. The Significant Change API (PermissionKit) will trigger a system dialog for parental consent if an app gets a major update or an age-rating shift. There is also a new property type in StoreKit that allows developers to automatically check when their app’s age rating has changed on a user’s device and then use the Significant Change API to request parental consent. Finally, App Store Server Notifications can be configured to tell developers when a parent revokes consent, blocking app launches. To ensure they are ready for these changes, developers must immediately use Apple’s sandbox testing environment to validate these APIs in their apps. For any developers out there finding this to be inconvenient, get used to it. Other regions, such as Utah, Louisiana, and Brazil, are looking at, or have implemented, similar rules.
