MrBear5587
Anyone else got horrible white bits in the corners of WMP11 like this, and anyone know how to remove them :( Btw, if I resize the WMP window both ways, they disappear. However when WMP is closed/opened again they're back. RadishTM Veteran Posted October 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted October 31, 2006 When you open WMP 11, is it meant to default to the Library tab? Because I'd like it to stay on the Now Playing window like WMP 10 did before. Anyone got ideas on how to do this?, the Options didn't reveal any settings as such. Radish? Preppy Veteran Posted October 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted October 31, 2006 If only it was an MSI ;) Until MSI supports native installation of System File Protected files, that's not possible. The file copies for 3/4 of the files would have to be done as CustomActions. It's basically impossible at this time to make it fully native MSI, sorry. am I missing any updates or etc. by bypassing the WGA check? Yeah, you screw up your device and sharing settings. There is no way to bypass the WGA check using any of the available methods and end up with the same net experience as someone that ran through the WGA check. If you do NOT run through setup_wm.exe, it is not technically possible to get the same WMP install everybody else has. ok...i get an error at the end of the installation saying it didn't work and i should try after restarting. The file %windir%\wmsetup.log will contain entries marked "ERROR: " for any setup failures- what are those? Nice, but what about the visualisations? Why haven't they been updated? What about the visualisation WMP is seen playing in http://www.wmplugins.com/ or is that just pretty photoshop marketing from MS? This has been confirmed previously to be just a random Photoshop. That visualization does not exist, and wouldn't really make much sense (how would it correlate to the music?) even if it did. :) I was curious, because it asked if I wanted WMP to be associated with ogg filetype, and then when i tried to add ogg files to the library, they didn't show up. Idiots. *cough cough* Hope you're using the Napolean Dynamite voice there. We allow people to plug into the library/file types dialogs. The file types addition was done by your OGG filter. If THEY didn't add full library support, that's a problem/limitation of their implementation, not of WMP. :)When you open WMP 11, is it meant to default to the Library tab? KayMan2K
The user interface is a nice upgrade. Library also looks nice, but I don't really use it. There is one behavoir change (bug?) that is really annoying me. In WMP11, if you enable both the 'Fit Video to Player on Resize' option and 'Fit Player to Video on Start' option, the 'Fit Player to Video on Start' is ignored. The player just uses whatever size it was last using. Anyone else experience this? Pink Floyd Veteran Posted November 1, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 1, 2006 hey guys, when advance editing an album or song, does it update the mp3 file? Preppy Veteran Posted November 1, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 1, 2006 it shows the new build number in wmp about menu.Yep, it certainly will. That's due to a 'file copy' and isn't particularly relevant. Setup does a bunch of work to configure your machine: if you don't run setup_wm, you don't get a full install, end of story.Respectfully, since I wrote most of what you're talking about, I do know what I'm talking about. You don't have to listen, but you'll never get a more accurate answer than I've already provided. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/507800-window-media-player11-finalreleased/page/5/#findComment-588005677 Share on other sites

i_like_chicken
Been a keen visitor of Neowin for a while now, but I have been keeping a particularly close eye on this forum since WMP 11 final was released a couple of days ago. Thought it was high time I made my mark. Especially seeing as one feature has me stumped. I have been a user of WMP 11 since Beta 1, and still havent worked this one out. Has anyone else been using the Pictures features in WMP 11? I have, but can't work how to use it properly. I understand that WMP Monitors folders for all media (inluding pictures), but unfortunately, when it monitors the music folders, its also finding all my album art pics hidden within each album folder. How do I stop it doing this and just make it find proper Pictures/Photos? Am I missing something obvious? I feel like I've tried everything. There is very little useful info in the Help file and not much on the WMP 11 website either, it all refers to Music and Video. Is there a WMP 11 resource or discussion page on the web somewhere? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/507800-window-media-player11-finalreleased/page/5/#findComment-588006003 Share on other sites

Suren
Such as? here are few examples: 1. in 9 & 10 i was able to select a new song or playlist from miniplayer or nowplaying thru that drop down menu system. now it is gone. 2. wmp 11 does not show how many songs i'm currently playing and their total duration. 3. the top menu system is blue  I dont think i can continue using this downgrade! Preppy Veteran Posted November 1, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 1, 2006 suren: 1: yeah, Quick Access Panel didn't work with the library designs for v11. There's been thoughts about how to add this type of thing back in the future, but it was one of the worst-scaling designs in v10 as it was. 2: Select all the entries you care about: the tally will show up in the player's bottom right. 3: Turn off Classic menus if you don't want 'em.
