I saw this film last night and all I can say is just WOW. Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond, he has to be my favourite Bond of all time, he was just absolute class in this film.

This film is well worth 5 stars IMO. What did everyone else think that saw it?

Heh, I haven't long just said that a topic should be made for the film in here.

Like I said in the other topic, Daniel Craig was defiantly a brilliant Bond, better than Pierce Brosnan in my eyes, and up there next to Sean Connery.

So many people doubted him and he really proved them wrong.

The film was great, i really enjoyed it, confusing as it was watching M talk about 9/11 and the film taking place after the first bond film, but being before the first bond film, lol.

I loved that there was no CG in it, not that it would of needed any really, but in DAD was horribly bad, if they had used it and it looked as bad as it has done, really would of brought the film down.

There wasn't any "bond" gadgets, of course you could see all the normal ones, SE phones and Sony laptops, and even the Sony digital camera, but I didn't feel I missed the gadgets in the film.

But all in all the film was one of the best bond films in my opinion, and brought the "Bond" franchise into the modern 21st century properly (DAD should never of been made  )

Definatly 5*'s

Yep, Daniel Craig took my #2 Best Bond ever spot from Brosnan. Sean Connery will always be #1 though.

Same here. This Bond movie kicked butt. Sure, it had a different feel, but it was a refreshing one, rather than just taking what we came to love and then smashing it into the ground.

I didn't like the movie, it did not have the feel of previous bond movies, he is a good actor but to me he doesnt have the feel of James Bond.

i think i like it because its different... its almost a new start for bond...

the more recent bond films have played to much on little jokes, cg and tacky gadgets (+ the reference back to the old films in DAD was baaaad)... this, i feel, is all the fault of roger moore (the comedy etc was introduced to cover the fact he can't act)...

it could just be, however, that this is such a good film because its the beginning of character.. (the same thing as batman begins, the 1st spiderman etc..)...

all in all, a very good film - 4/5...

Exactly!!! Doesn't feel like a bond movie....a lot of stuff could've been cut off... didn't like it that much.

A Great Film. Craig's Bond is the right mix of Connery's and Moores Bond's.

I was happy with the lack of "bond" gadgets, I found the later films focused to much on them. Hopefully the next film will keep using more realistic gadgets like the tracking devices, and the cell phones.

Overall I give a 8.5/10

First thing's first, I couldn't help but notice the huge amount of Sony product placement

  • BRAVIA
Used as all the screens, and advertised in the internet news report
  • Sony Ericsson
Just everywhere! Notice how every shot of a phone always included the SE writing at the top
  • Walkman
For some reason, they have a Walkman phone
  • Cybershot
In Venice, and some of the Cybershot phones
  • VAIO
    Every laptop!
  • BD Players
Security footage is all stored in BD, even though in reality there would be little need, as they could use a HDD
  • BD-Rs
    See above

It seems to be in all of Sony's films as of late, or maybe I've just picked up on product placement better.

As for the film... :D = Me

In my mind, I will always see Brosnan as Bond, but that's just me I guess. That intro, whoa! (Y)

I also liked the way they played up the tension on the casino tables, leaving me on the edge of my seat. However, looking back, I feel the story wasn't the deepest ever.

I never got the feeling of revelation from the plot twists.

Still, it's a ***** rating for me.

My take on it:

Craig is not all primp and press like Brosnan. The movie, may run a bit long but it was worth it to set the Bond films back to where they need to be, when Bond wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Watching this movie reminded me why I am a fan of the Bond movies, and made me forget the last 4 of them.

Really good Bond movie but just an average film but being a Bond fan i can over look the impossibles and the imp professions and still REALLY enjoy the movie. I would still say that GoldFinger and GoldenEye rank above it but it is close to passing GoldenEye. I also loved the darkness of this one (like Batman did), i think it is a great refresh for the series. As for Bond, it is really hard to rank them but the top 3 in NO order would be Connery, Moore, and Craig.

Bond Rank: 5 out of 5

Normal Rank: 3 out of 5

Surpass my expectations & more. It made me forget the last 4 Bond movies. Although Goldeneye was the best of the four.

To those who said Daniel Craig doesn't fit the Bond criteria, they've made the wrong assumption before seeing this. He might not have the looks or charm as Brosnan, but he's the perfect Bond IMO. Gritty & tough. Connery was great but it's been awhile since I've seen his Bond movies.

And lets hope they keep the same director for the next movie. Unlike the previous four.

Like someone mention above, it's going to be a long wait for the next movie.

Easily my pick for best movie of the year.

9.5/10

I Agree... This was one of the best bond films IMO and Daniel Craig was absoloutly awsome, the only thing I didn't like about the film was the amount of product placement.

Other than that great fim 9/10

This film was a bad bond film, but a decent action movie. Bond shold have outlandish villians, as well as humor and style. This had really none of that. And what was with the plot? There were like 3 different bad guys, which was semi-confusing. And the violence was too gritty for bond.

Also what was with some of that dialogue? "If the only thing that was left of you was your mouth and finger..." What?

It wasnt all that bad. I liked the general idea behind showing how he got his start, and kind of seeing who he was. The fact that you dont really hear the theme until the end, but it is hinted at is really cool. And Craig was a better Bond type character then I was expecting. The problem was with the director/film.

i can't believe people are ranking moore as i their top 3 bonds, he was awful... and he couldnt act... it surprises me a lot...

in my eyes he was the sole reason behind bond vearing from a good action movie to farcical comedy....

I shouldn't post here, haven't seen CR yet but...

Moore was amusing. In Living Daylights (I think? or possibly You Only Live Twice) the opening scene was as far as I'm concerned the best ever. It's also the only time I can remember seeing proper skiing in a Bond film. The World Is Not Enough's skiing was very amateurish (tourist? :p) most of the time except twice when the "skier" takes super-G turns on the piste which is awesome but lasts maybe a couple of seconds before he gets closer, camera changes plan and it's Brosnan disappointing crouching forward again.

At least in the Moore era they had stunt doubles...

Mmmm details :p
