Nice, especially at only 400 points :D

praise where praise is due - MS giving us tons and tons of Wolfenstein for 400 points! Well done! i surely hope this isn't some kind of E3 let the masses have their fun gesture, after all it was just last month we paid twice that for Arkanoid, which was maybe a fifth of the content.

Here's to hoping this price point sticks - the economy doesn't bode well for pricey downloads.

just downloaded Altered Beast...what a delight, playing that game with unlimited continues, finally finished it after 20 years! And glad MS got the message regarding the 800 point prices, seems at least for now we're back at 400 pointers. Will be getting Shinobi later.

Today's releases:

It's XBLA Wednesday and we've got six Sega Genesis classics for you. They're 400 MIcrosoft Points each, and are available in all Xbox Live countries.

Altered Beast (add to queue)

Comix Zone (add to queue)

Gunstar Heroes (add to queue)

Phantasy Star II (add to queue)

Shinobi (add to queue)

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 (add to queue)

I think I'll get Comix Zone, loved that as a kid. :D

LOVE the old coin-op games that are available... I just wish there were more of my favorites, like:

Major Havoc

Stargate

Crystal Castles

Sinistar

Donkey Kong

Space War

Star Castle

Vanguard

Space Duel

Black Widow

Q*Bert

I, Robot

Marble Madness

Berzerk

Qix

Is there any chance any more of these would be coming down the pike?

cowabunga dude!

Austin, you should keep in mind MS has largely walked away from the coin-op classic initiative, they seem to be waiting for publishers to come to them whereas in the past they were more aggressive getting the oldies. i wouldn't hold my breath, honestly, if they come, they come.

That would be because people complained for almost a year they wanted to see original titles instead of games they could run with an emulator for free elsewhere.

And I back them with that (Y) We don't need more coin-op classics.

I'd much rather buy and play a game at 800/1200 which lasts me for months which is completely new vs a game I already know like the back of my hand that I completed when I was 4 years old.

can't agree with your there bub, i'd like to be given a choice, have bought both a bunch of coin op classics and full price mainline titles on XBLA. they don't contradict each other. i don't bother with PC gaming anymore, it's not the same experience. the emulated stuff is a joke compared to playing it on the 360, five bucks isn't much for a couple hours of nostalgia.

Yeah ?5 for any standard footlong and a drink. (refills as well obv)

Doesn't bother me, I make up for all the difference with free emulation:pp

You might be interested in Ikaruga if you don't already have it. The full Dreamcast game for 400 points this week.

Yup, that's the one! But it's Munky Island, so it's MY island :p

Anyway I was checking the release list and there is quite a few coin-ops still coming out this year.

Monkey Island (as noted) - 800pts

TMNT - 1200pts

Marvel vs Capcom 2 - 1200pts

Samurai Shodown - TBA

Bust-A-Move Live - TBA

Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure - TBA

Bubble Bobble Neo - TBA

Crack Down - TBA

ESWAT: City Under Siege - TBA

The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match - TBA (not sure if this released last week or not alongside Worms 2?)

So still quite a few for you to play.

I have like 6000+ points just now, 1200 is saved for MvC2, 800 for CoD1 and South Park doesn't have a price yet. I don't know what else to buy :/

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
