I'm extremely lazy, so you get this is special textificated form instead of picture.

Windows Exerpience Index base score of 3.4

Processor: 3.4

Memory (RAM): 4.2

Graphics: 5.9

Gaming Graphics: 4.9

Primary Hard Disk: 5.2

It's a Athlon 2400XP, 1280mb of PC2700, an X800PRO on AGP8x and a 7200rpm maxtor hard-drive as primary. It copes with Vista rather nicely, especially given its age.

Guys just a small note, please post your system specs as well with your scores, otherwise it just doesn't make any sense :) that will add value to this thread as performance comparison method between different hardware configuration.

:hump: typical of M$ to lazy to write an subroutine to give an average of the scores made they just said stuff it give them a score of the lowest component and that'll do now see sidvicious up there gets a lousy 4.8 because thats his lowest score right well if it was an average score he'd then recieve an 5.6 now shoot me if thats not a better score and sommit i'd like to see instead of a 4.8 woulldn't you. lowest score dosen't mean that the overall system isn't reasonably fast just that one component isn't quite as fast as another so i dont realy put much stock in this form of benchmark because it leaves out the fact of overall performance :uberhump: but i get a 4.5

see sig :p

What CPU do you have? Is it overclocked?

Here is mine:

Antec Nine Hundred Case

Windows Vista - Windows XP Pro

Does anyone know if there is some artificial limitation to prevent people from getting a 5.9 Calculations Per Second score without a Quad-Core CPU? No matter how high I clock my E6600, I can't get above a 5.7 rating.

Bottle. Neck. Bottleneck.

How come an AMD dual core 4000 goes faster than my 4400???

( edit ) Must be because you are on x64 or overclocked

Yeah a 4400 runs at 2.3 and i'm at 2.625. There really isn't any difference between the 4000 and 4400 except stock clock speed so there really wasn't any point in my spending the extra $20 on a 4400.

    • Anyway to download these versions without being on the Experimental builds?
    • Nothing is stopping you from continuing with your testing cadence. If updates are released every 2 weeks instead of 4, and you test once every 4 weeks, the exact same amount of patches will still be available for you in those 4 weeks. For example: Before 4th week - patch 1, 2, 3, 4 After 2nd week - patch 1 and 2 4th week - patch 3 and 4 Still the same amount after 4.
    • Everyone else has said it. I'm gonna say it - you don't know what you're talking about. I do. I have two laptops. One work, one personal. I have access to two more laptops - both personal. At home I manually update my personal laptop when I see on Neowin that there is an update - I carry on and only apply the updates when I am ready. My work one only updates when my workplace decides to send it - I carry on and only apply the updates (when they actually arrive, which is usually days after the release) when I switch off the laptop at the end of the day as usual. The two other personal laptops only get updated when I get to it which is rarely - the people who own them carry on using them until I get to it and update them. All of the browsers on all laptops are configured to restore the tabs when launched. Google and Microsoft have changed from 6 weeks to 4, and it looks like it's going to move to 2. None of these changes affect how any of these browsers on the laptops are used. Not one jot. My advice to you is stop panicking whenever you see an update. Just carry on with what you're doing. This even benefits you in a way - from your comment you sound like you don't like the changes or the frivolous new features - great - then carry on as before!
