Only 8GB? Man, that suits me fine! Plus, you have to remember the resolution for movies for it shouldn't be huge, so I don't expect them to be too large of a file size.

Honestly, it's the ability to play full-length movies on the phone that's impressive. Why be greedy right now? It's still early. It's Apple... you know there's going to be upgrades along the way.

So we should gladly take a halfass offering because its apple? That sounds like the PPC days of apple.

Wifi connection, does this mean browser capable? IM? id really want this feature

i see this product being able to be used right away, GSM, but i dont see this product released and shipped right away, maybe march?

We have Safari running on iPhone -- it's the first fully-usable browser on a cellphone.

Good guess :D

I have a feeling this phone won't work in Canada right away... but I want one so bad....

I feel your concern man, if/when it is releases in canada, I wonder what network they will use (probably not Bell as this device is GSM . .darn, I may have to switch carriers just for this new ipod)

Really?
Cingular Wireless is the largest wireless company in the United States, with more than 58 million subscribers who use the nation's largest digital voice and data network. Cingular is dedicated to providing customers with wireless technology designed to enrich their lives.
Without a doubt... what will Nokia, Sony, et al do to try and match it?

Nokia is coming with N95 with 5 megapixel this year, all these other phone brands will prolly pump their camera megapixel up and and more memory for music. Still i doubt it will all be innovative as the iPhone.

Cingular is larger than Verizon...

Cingular is not even close to Verizon. I don't care what that article says. Verizon, ATT, and Bell are all absolutely enormous compared to Cingular. They are all the result of huge mergers and purchases.
Why, if verizon gets it they will disable half the features.

well maybe because everyone i know uses verizon, and i use my phone very often. since it's free to call them i don't need to spend a ton on money on my calling plan.

Cingular got the boost over Verizon by merging with AT&T. The network is huge, almost everyone I know uses it and I wouldn't use any other.

AT&T IS Cingular now. This happened like a year ago lol.

Same here. Man I wish they'd make a version for Verizon.

So you would gladly allow verizon to disable features which they have done on every phone they sold, just because you don't want to spend a few more dollars?

    • A coalition of publishers sued OpenAI and Microsoft over scraping content without consent by Hamid Ganji Image via Depositphotos.com AI companies often rely on readily available internet content to train their chatbots and provide users with instant answers. This method of AI training is fast and relatively inexpensive, but using a website’s content without permission or compensation is not something publishers like to see, and this is exactly why Microsoft and OpenAI are now being sued. As reported by Bloomberg, a group of publishers that collectively own nearly 400 newspapers has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft. The coalition argues that the two companies scraped their content to build AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Copilot without paying any compensation. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, argues that while AI products have generated billions of dollars in market value using publishers’ work, none of that value has been shared with the publishers. The plaintiffs are seeking statutory damages and injunctive relief for alleged copyright infringement and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. “Defendants systematically and secretly crawled the Publishers’ websites—including content behind paywalls and other access restrictions—and copied the Publishers’ articles, stories, and other original works onto their own servers without authorization,” the complaint states. The publishers also described the AI boom as a “death knell for local journalism” if AI companies that scrape content for free are not held accountable. Former New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin and his law firm, Platkin LLP, are representing the publishers. “Our models empower innovation, are trained on publicly available data, and are grounded in fair use,” OpenAI spokesperson Drew Pusateri told Bloomberg. This is not the first lawsuit involving the unauthorized use of publishers’ content by AI firms, but it is one of the largest coalitions ever formed against the free use of content by AI chatbots. In 2024, OpenAI and Microsoft also faced a similar lawsuit from eight newspapers that claimed AI products were benefiting from their content without permission.
