Puzzle Box 4

It clearly doesn't say when the Meta Puzzle challenge ends, if you strongly believe you have

the right answer just enter it, but don't patronize others that want to keep thinking and working

towards finding a more logical outcome.

You don' t think that the latin anagram HEDERA (from Hardee) which translates to "Ivy" is a logical answer?

If the meta puzzle didn't have an end - why would they have modified the roamingroaming page TWO TIMES in one day to help us get the answer. If there's no time constraint, why would they feel the need to help us so quickly. I'm pretty confident that MS/AMD doesn't want to waste any more time waiting for the right answer - they essentially handed it to us to ensure a winner when the remainder of the contest ends. Feel free to keep trying, but my 2 cents is that they want us to be done by tomorrow...

Some Anagrams of "Hardee Tanli". Probably not useful, but here are a few interesting or silly results:

A THREAD LINE

A LAD THEREIN

A LAND ETHER I

A RATE HELD IN

HEADLINE ART

HEALED TRAIN

EARTHED NAIL

HEAD RATLINE

HEAD RELIANT

HEAD RETINAL

HEAD LATRINE

HEAD EAR LINT

INHALED TEAR

INHALED RATE

HARDLINE TEA

HARDLINE ATE

HANDIER TALE

HANDLE IRATE

LINEAR DEATH

HER IDEAL TAN

NAILED HEART

NAILED EARTH

DENIAL EARTH

LEAD HAIR NET

INHALE TREAD

DRAIN THE ALE

RADIANT HEEL

ARENA HELD IT

HER ANAL TIDE

IDEA ENTHRAL

RELIANT HEAD

I found "Drain the ale" and "Her anal tide" especially amusing.

Dont think any of them were useful, though...

Because they are obviously monitoring what we transpire here and other online forums, etc, and realized

that it was impossible to arrive to the correct answer without knowing exactly what coordinates where

the correct ones for the starting point and what tool and how they used it to obtain the distances...

in short words a litle snafu.

I'm sure they want to have a winner, they want the buzz around it, as I said before after all this is just

a clever marketing campaign.

Meanwhile I keep searching and learning about stuff I never read before, I won't feel bad if I'm proven

wrong, after all I had a lot of fun, met a lot of new "online" friends, learned a lot from them, joined neowin

that is an excelent place to hang around about other matters besides this game, and I'm cool that I

tried hard. My philosophy is, the fun is on playing the game, not just being the winner, so enjoy the ride

no matter if you are the first one to arrive ...

Cheers

I still believe (I know, I know, I said it n-times already) that the correct answer is NOT the names

of the four sisters, we still seem to be fixated on that and not exploring other alternatives.

Confusio has been correct on almost everything he's called since box 1. So I tend to believe that he's right, again.

It does say what IS my name....not what are my names.

The 4th sister is disappearing, just like Hardee?

In the final video the first 3 are holding thier props but the 4th one has nothing. She is the most adimant about the Seven brothers book.

Not sure how relevant, but has anyone else connected that there is NO story about seven chinese brothers. The original folklore version had 10 brothers, the subsequent "Americanized" childerns tale had five.... Loki is to smart to make that kind of mistake.

Actually, Seven is correct...here's a link to a 1992 children's book of the correct title by Margaret Mahy: Seven Chinese Brothers

Note, though, that you also are correct that there was a 1938 Five Chinese Brothers by Claire Huchet Bishop.

Also, a Seven Chinese Sisters in 2003 by Kathy Tucker.

I'm going to recant my statement that "the game is over" - sorry for being so grouchy about the whole thing

After going back and looking at the lokiv page - I noticed that it's not a question (and is referred to as a "challenge") In previous pages, she said "when the time is right, I'll ask you a question" - she hasn't asked us a question yet.

what, is, my, name - has no question mark.

I agree that MAYBE we're not done.

Quick thought...the Game officially ends tonight, at 9pm PST/Midnight EST. So this is it. We've either solved it or are running down to the wire. Keep an eye on the lokiv page for changes or new hints, but if we don't see anything...well...than the best guess is that someone submitted the right answer.

did you have the link to the LOKIV page that you are talking about.

I hope Microsoft plans to reimburse the employers of all the players of this game for their loss of productivity throughout the game's course!

So damn addictive!

hehe that's a good one !!!

I've this thing bouncing in my mind, what a heck I'll get it out ..

There are way too many things that are connected to "Space Travel"

The grand prize, the vanishing point, what pi, euler's number and the golden ratio have in common?, they are all

irrational numbers, there is a theory that says if you try to construct a set of irrational numbers the elements on

the set become uncountable (you can still estimate the number) like the number of stars in the universe, or like

the "grains of sand in the beach", star trek, galactica, time travel, the discoveries that enabled the advance of

science and technology, the first human in space, etc, etc ...

I'm going nuts !!!! hehe

Damn I own my own company, I guess I'll have to fire myself because of this crazy game ...

Cheers

Not related to anything specifically in the puzzle right now, but I think it is interesting that we have AMD promoting their multi-core processors a lot like Company I. Think Multiple persons, a la LOKI.

Not sure if this plays a part in the game, just thought it was interesting. . .

Pi is a never ending number...no vanishing point?

Hmm we can start a whole thread about number theory, pi is not a periodic number, as the Euler's number, the

square root of 2, etc, it ends but we don't know where and there are a lot of brilliant scientists that keep adding

more decimals to it, the key issue about pi, and any other irrational number is that it can't be expressed as a

single fraction of two integers.

Just a quick question concerning the Odessa Oblast Coat of Arms. If the answer was Odessa why would they use the Provinces coat of arms and not the city's coat of arms? It seems to me there is more to the Odessa Oblast part of this. Just a thought.

Odessa is a codename for one of the AMD Athlon 64 fx chips

    • I really hope the author's health is ok. Squirreling away a official backup of this software. Looks like the internet archive already cached a copy as well - https://web.archive.org/web/20...ldbit-soft.fi/software.html
    • AMD is supported out of the box in linux because of their open source driver. Nvidia does not. All my systems are amd and all of them work nicely on linux arch without doing anything.
    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
    • Everything they say you can already do yourself on the registry by changing some things.
