Sick of PS3 Bashing

Recommended Posts

To the OP; people are mad at Sony because they ****ed up. It's that simple. 2 years ago, Sony and Sony fans were trashing the 360 every chance they got, ejaculating endlessly over the cell processor and Blu-ray, and how Sony was going to make MS's 360 look like a K-mart toy next to their gaming Porsche. Now we're here; Sony die-hards complaining about their poor console's critics, and saying to lay off. What goes around comes around, I say. These threads crying about Sony-bashing are often mis-labeled; if someone can actually have a debate without resorting to, "You're wrong and I'm right, so STFU!", it's not bashing, it's discussion. You're allowed to report the trolling, but not the well-thought out arguments, please.

That's where I believe some people think you are blind. It doesn't have to be only "You're wrong, I'm right so STFU!" to be trolling. These are not well thought out arguements, but merely the same recycled garbage posts we've seen for just over a year now. That's not "well thought out" to me, just repetition. I believe the term flamebait is also in the forum policies... and mentioning small jabs about owners "ejaculating endlessly" and "crying" is just the very foundation. There's that flamebait for you, but surely not from a moderator? The OP is probably trying to take this from a personal aspect as well as a technical/hardware aspect - about other users being asinine.

It is old. And it's quite eye opening to see that it's not only us Playstation owners making a statement about it. But I wouldn't expect any action from you other than a continuation of keyboard attacks. Try making critiques about the Playstation in this current time without using last year's bandwagon approach... it might be more acceptable.

Like how this is turning out

One side there's those viscous and evil Xbox 360 owners, whose only intend is to flame and bash

On the other side of the fence, there's the cute & fluffy PS3 owners, who has never said anything wrong, done anything wrong - Angels!

The only flaw I see in your argument is making the assumption that people are starting threads about their bad opinion of the PS3. Most of the time this "bashing" occurs in news posts (generally bad for Sony) where people are trying to point out why the PS3 is good/bad as per the article and others try to counter the argument. That's what I think Joel was talking about. "Orange Box Delayed for PS3" and a post of "Ha! Sony sux!" would be flamebait and trolling, but discussing the difficulties being encountered by many studios in coding for the PS3 is just that, a discussion.

Edit: Also, I don't think you'll find GT5 more "fine tuned" than Forza 2, or possibly Forza 3, whic might be released by the time GT5 comes out. PGR4 is excellent for the type of game it is also (less simulation).

Try not to be fooled easily. You, as well as I, know that we've seen those sorts of posts even in the positive news threads. This "discussion" you speak of... it appears that some people have a different thought about what that really is. Even without being vulgar or childish with one's comments, there can still be quick hits and blatant flamebait. Again... it's just the same ol' recycled comments we've seen over and over again. And when such comments flood a discussion, it makes it nearly impossible to debate hardware, marketing and development intelligently without users fueling the fire.

Of all things - a moderator should be locking these sorts of threads. We all know the outcome each and every time... you this, you that, blah blah blah.

There are several reasons why the PS3 gets bashed:

1.The biggest reason, the PS2 dominated last gen sales, no argument. Its a natural feeling to dislike those on the top. Its the same in sports how every hates the yankees, patriots, la lakers...ect...apply that to consoles, PS2 was on top and people want the underdogs, X360 and Wii to prevail to show that Sony isnt the only contender...that is the biggest reason

2. Sony screwed themselves... They made a lot of promises that were never held up. Look at what was originally promised for the PS3 i think at e3 '05. That, along with their disastrous PR comments

3. The games available. PS3 isnt producing games like the PS2 was mainly because there is much stronger compeition

*claps*

It's not the PS3; it's Sony. Their attitude, their promises, their arrogance- these things were never backed up. PS3 exclusives are simply not as good as exclusives on other platforms at the moment. Uncharted looks fantastic, but not fantastic enough to warrant a $400+ purchase. I've seen promotions giving away 15 Blu-ray movies with each PS3, but the things still aren't selling. It was strange to see everything else selling like hotcakes on Black Friday, while PS3s sat in huge piles in nearly every store I went to.

The console itself may be great, but the potential isn't being realized.

Can we all not agree to disagree ? Both consoles have there faults and both have there strengths ! I think it's all down to what you want heck I want mass effect so will be getting a 360 ! I adore the wii for all the Nintendo goodness i.e. Mario and Metroid !

I bought a PS3 on black friday and I'm pretty satisfied. I have a PSP already so I'm already loving the XMB interface.

I wish the fanboy wars would quit though. Everybody buys the console they want for a reason, why should they be lauded for it.

Anywho, I plan to pick up some blu-ray flicks. I haven't made it back to my home yet since I'm (home home) for the holidays so i don't have an HD display to test it with. I need to get back to my place so I can really see how the PS3 does.

lets put the games, software, hardware and all other things about the 360 and ps3 aside and look at the way they're built. a friend own both the 360 elite and the ps3. when it comes to loading times, noise from the console and parts used to build them, we both agree that ps3 has the 360 beat, hands down.

it's like 360 was built by GM and ps3 by BMW.

Heres how I see 'the war' at the moment, think i've been rather fair:

PS3:-

A lot of unused potential

PSN, slowly growing, will be great in time

Controls, the old design seems to work best

Reliable hardware

Hardware performance, its there, so long as time is spent on it

Built in Blu-Ray

Great media options

back compat on older models

Upgradable SATA 2.5'' HDD

web browser

great psp interactivity

not as loud, but can be sometimes

X360

Large games library

Not particularly great quality hardware build

Live, A lot of content, but it has been around 5 years

optional HD-DVD

Largely windows centric media functions

no motion control (though hardly important)

Is normally the focus console in multiplatform development

Loud

limited back compat

optional 20gb and 120gb hdd's

Wii

Great interface

minimal but functional online functions (for games)

100% GCN compatible

Limited storage

great first party titles

third party titles a bit 'meh'

web browser

underpowered hardware

virtual console

loud disc drive

future DS related software

Yes. When you take away everything that really matters in a console, the PS3 wins. Why couldn't we all just see it from that perspective to begin with

I honestly can't even fathom how you thought that that might possibly have been a good argument.

well lets see:

1. it has SOMETHING to do with the consoles, they're being COMPARED

2. I CLEARLY stated in my post to put everything ASIDE and commented on that particular thing

3. the BUILD of the console matters, a lot, not to mention the NOISE and LOADING times

there, I put the important words into caps, as you seem to be BLIND.

'something' isn't an important word.

In your OP, you didn't mention anything about the build of the console as a whole, you only mentioned the noise and loading times. For one, the noise from the 360 isn't a big deal to the vast majority of people. Second, loading times don't mean jack **** if the game is crap, not to mention they're really a nonissue, considering even though they may be longer, they aren't a ridiculous length in any game I've experienced.

My point still stands. You're terrible at making arguments. You took out everything that mattered and then tried to compare them. This stuff doesn't work like that.

-Spenser

My PS3 makes more noise than my 360 - Loading time, in Port games are mostly longer on the PS3 as far is I've seen.

Bingo.. not only that PS3 is louder, but the load times are a complete joke. This is mostly because of Blu-Ray. Motorscross, Heavenly Sword, ridiculous load times. On Heavenly Sword it becomes completely annoying that you have to wait almost a minute to replay the level when you die.

I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say PS3 is quieter and loads faster. I guess people seem to see and hear what it suits them.

Heres how I see 'the war' at the moment, think i've been rather fair:

LOL at your view of the consoles and how you downplay everything on Xbox 360 even though your statements are completely incorrect... all you do is put assumptions on PS3 without any solid backing (reasoning) based on what we saw so far, yet you go and downplay Xbox 360 things because what? Live has been out for 5 years? Who is responsible for that? That's called great planning and developement. This shows that Sony is so much about money that even though they had the lead they stopped innovating gaming. They just thought, PS2 will do everything for them.

It really boggles the mind how people justify things.

In your OP, you didn't mention anything about the build of the console as a whole, you only mentioned the noise and loading times.

You care to provide proof for that statement?

You took out everything that mattered and then tried to compare them. This stuff doesn't work like that.

See, that's the beautiful thing about comparing, a person gets to choose what they want to compare in the items.

I own a 360, and I have to admit, when I rented a launch console, it was loud as hell. But, in about 10 minutes I couldn't hear it.

Now, I can't hear my 360 at all. I guess I have just adapted to it. Maybe the same applies to PS3 gamers?

The sound on ocassion might be coming from the drive (not always though). On the other hand, when PS3 cooling turbines start spinning the whole freakin' room echos.

I always laugh when I go to GameStop and they have PS3 running, and the whole freakin' store is humming. LOL.

And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. At Computex 2026, together with NVIDIA, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop to date, powered by NVIDIA's RTX Spark processor. Details about this computer are currently scarce, as Microsoft has only revealed certain parts of its specs. So far, we know that the computer has a 15-inch mini-LED display, a rich set of ports, a powerful processor, and all-day battery life. It also comes with a new wallpaper, which you can already download here in full resolution. The Surface Laptop Studio is not the only NVIDIA-powered Surface, which Microsoft unveiled this week. At Build 2026, the company also debuted the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, an odd-shaped desktop with a 20-core NVIDIA Grace CPU and an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores with FP4 precision, connected via the NVIDIA NVLink-C2C chip-to-chip interconnect for high performance. According to Microsoft, it can run models with up to 120 billion parameters locally without relying on cloud GPU infrastructure. These two new Surface devices are likely to cost quite a lot, and for those who need a more affordable device, Microsoft is preparing the next-gen Qualcomm-powered Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. This week, details about these two devices leaked in plenty of detail. Other announcements at Build 2026 include the following: Microsoft unveils new security tools for IT admins and developers building AI products Microsoft announces Scout, an OpenClaw-powered personal agent for enterprise customers Microsoft unveils MAI-Thinking-1 reasoning and MAI-Code-1 coding models Microsoft announced a new Windows 11 native command-line utility Microsoft unveils Majorana 2 quantum chip, accelerating commercial timeline to 2029 Microsoft believes that AI agents will eventually replace apps through Project Solara Microsoft introduces Web IQ, a Bing-powered search system built for AI agents Last week, Microsoft released a new Experimental build, which introduced a major Start menu upgrade. We published a closer look here, so if you want to know what Microsoft is cooking without enrolling in the Insider program and installing unstable builds, check it out. Speaking of new features, many users are very annoyed about the way Microsoft delivers them. Recently, a frustrated user shared their experience with gradual rollouts, and even Microsoft engineers admitted there is a flaw in the system that prevents new features from applying properly. One of those new features includes the ability to uninstall AI models in Windows 11 with a single click. Windows 11 is finally getting fixes for its slow context menus. Marcus Ash from Microsoft confirmed that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are going to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." According to Marcus, Microsoft will share more details soon. Windows Insider Program Windows 11 preview builds, released last week, are now available for download as standalone ISO files. These days, Microsoft regularly pushes new images, allowing users to clean-install its recent Windows 11 preview builds faster and easier. • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
