F1 World Championship 2008 Thread

I can't wait for the BBC to release who will be part of the team. I hope they keep similar features that ITV have. Such as, a video of the circuit with one of the drivers and the walk around. Thank god there will be no breaks as well. Surely they can get Murray Walker to do at least one, just to toast the return. I wonder if this means we can see practice laps on BBCi as well. We might even see Suzi Perry as well!

Quick edit:

Think of the HD content as well. No doubt BBC would like to broadcast this in HD.

just watched the 1st practice session, massa fastest by just over a second (will post the full results when they appear somewhere), kimi's engine seemed to pack in *again* :D other things of note, webbers engine blew and coulthard hit a kerb when rejoining the track after running wide and ending losing his front wheels, not a good start for red bull :/

lewis was 5th and alonso 6th i think, not sure on that, imo raikkonen/lewis/kovaleinen weren't at full speed and i'd expect them to improve in session 2

edit: Malaysian GP free practice session 1 times

Maybe they were looking at just going till they run out of fuel, and just used to much so he couldn't get back.

Overall this second practice has been about nice shots instead.

Alonso second gear wasn't working and a few people spun and locking wheels. Bourdais broke down not long after he came out.

Seems Red Bull's suspension is under scrutiny. I thought it odd how easily his car fell apart after Massa hit him at Australia. Sure he wasn't going to be able to continue, but it was an awful lot of damage considering the impact. Now it broke when crossing a kurb to rejoin the track...

well the wheels do break off f1 cars incredibly easily.

yea, but not like that. He just ran over a kerb and his both wheels are gone. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the suspension broke down very easily.

It's like his car is made of glass. Defienetly weird. :s

All I can say is wow!!

Tbh, I noticed it when DC and Massa collided last weekend at Albert Park, DC's Suspension collapsed really easily! But damn, 2 occurances now is pretty mental!

I hope they sort it out as I do really like the Red Bull Team and was impressed by their performance at Albert Park.

It could be ?hello Richard Hammond? and ?goodbye Gary Lineker? after a dramatic day during which broadcasters battled for Britain?s most popular sports rights.

Hammond, the Top Gear presenter who survived a high-speed crash, is in pole position to become the face of Formula One after the BBC reclaimed the sport in a ?200 million deal.

Weird, considering he doesn't like F1. But I guess ratings are gonna be huge. What if Jeremy and James will :laugh:m? I will be downl... will find a way to watch the BBC coverage, that's:shifty:e. :shifty:

As much I love Top Gear I don''t think they should present it, none of them like F1 and it is a serious sport, Top Gear is just a joke around. Hopefully they will get the BBC Radio 5 Live to do it, also the pit lane reporter Holly Samos is easy on the eye...

"When Lewis Hamilton did a test lap on Top Gear it got more viewers than the Brazilian Grand Prix," he explained. "Bernie (Ecclestone) was very impressed with the Top Gear proposition and there will be cross-fertilisation between the show and the races."

I'm not exactly sure how they can cross them. Top Gear comment on the F1 in their news? Do a pre-race feature in each F1 programme? One thing I would like to see is all the drivers to do a lap of the Top Gear track. Could get a real idea of their ability then!

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
