[Official] Diablo III

You must of missed the 290 and 3-20-20 currency period :p. But yes I agree it would be good to see gold as the currency.

Edit: I wonder if D3 will have voice chat... that would be badass... If not me and my friends will just use Vent/Teamspeak

Yeah i must have, what was it???

Yea every class with have both male and female.

Really? That's amazing, I had no idea. This means I can get to have a female Paladin, if the class is in that is :D . I do have one wish, if the Sorcerer/Sorceress is in, they had better do something about those magic damages as too many times I meet monsters who have magic immunity and I have to run around a lot to avoid them in DII.

(Y) to the male and female variations. My live feed cut out before I saw that

At least you get to watch a bit of it, I didn't get to watch it all :p !

Oh man, it took quite a bit of effort to get the damn thing working. It was on and off before the gameplay vid, but luckily it stabilized by then and worked perfectly until it cut out soon after the first boss guy. That OctoShape software was off my computer within 2 seconds!

Mine was a connection problem, due to my very slow broadband  .

Thanks for that -w "hack".

So it is supposed to be like this: "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe -w"? Because it is not working for some reason.. Am I doing something wrong?

No. It's a command line argument, it goes outside the quotation marks. Like so:

"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w

I thought there was a hack to get the screen resolution up to 1280 x 1024?

Scirwode

Nope, that command is to get it working in windowed mode. And if I noticed this right, the colors are much darker this way. Maybe because of my drivers, who knows.

I see.

A little update: I have seen many sites reporting about petitions about the graphics of Diablo 3. No offense to anyone at Neowin, but when will they realize that game still has a long way to go. It is still pre-alpha, so what are they crying about. Blizzard is not going to let them down. And what is with this "Diablo is a single-player clone of WoW"? I mean just WTF?

Let Blizzard do their work, and in2009 or maybe 2010 you will have a 11/10 game, again. :)

... No offense to anyone at Neowin, but when will they realize that game still has a long way to go. It is still pre-alpha, so what are they crying about ...

When will you realize that if nobody says anything about the current graphics, there is a possibility that billzard will keep a "Cartoony art" direction for the game instead of a much better "Realistic art" direction ?

Did you look at comparisons between "how it looks now" (from what we saw) and "how it should look".

"How it should look" are always much better IMHO.

Edit: I agree that this game will be a blast to play, but we don't want the same kind of art in Diablo III than in WoW. Just like Warcraft 2 didn't have the same kind of art than starcraft or diablo 2.

One thing to throw in here:

I really hope melee is rebalanced.

It doesn't help that all melee characters except for whirlwinders could only attack a small number of targets at once, and deal only limited damage with weak weapons.

Compared to relatively inexpensive caster builds, this just seems even more unfair.

Excuse the text, but is this what Diablo 3 is looking like? (bottom screen)

<img snipped>

If so, yeah I do agree it needs darkened down a bit.

I'm fine with both. Both look good, and both will do the job just fine. Both won't matter once you start playing.

I think its hilarious how everyone is up in arms about the graphics. They have shown two different areas to the game and everyone expects it to all look the same. It could be that it is a gradual development to the story where an event turns the world into a dark and evil place again. Doesn't this takes place years after Diablo II?

Either way, if you guys dont petition, who will? Keep it up. Needs to be dark.

for what was released from blizzard, the game looks really good, while watching the preview i was in complete awe.

the graphics look good as it is, i think that there's no need for a change.

either is it released in 2009 or 2010, i don't care, i can wait.

this because the waiting will be worth it, and what was shown in the videos, it's quite advanced in it's development.

Excuse the text, but is this what Diablo 3 is looking like? (bottom screen)

The one at the bottom looks like something from WOW to be honest, and I don't quite like it. The top one is much better as it is certainly darker, however that said I'm fine with both. I just prefer a much darker world in Diablo III.

The new graphics do look too bright and colorful for a game like Diablo. I hate how WoW is heavily influencing it's graphics. Diablo should be dark and crude. You shouldn't be able to see everything coming at you. That was one thing that I liked about Diablo. You never knew what was going to come out to kill you.

    • I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.

    • Mozilla highlights Firefox Nova 2026 redesign and more upcoming features with new roadmap by Sayan Sen Last month Mozilla confirmed that Firefox was set to get a major redesign this year. Dubbed "Project Nova", it can already be tested and will roll out to all users later this year. The idea is to keep the browser competitive in a rapidly evolving internet landscape. As such the revamp focuses on improving privacy, usability, performance, accessibility, and customization. Key privacy features including the built-in VPN, private browsing mode, and Enhanced Tracking Protection, will be more visible and easier to manage, while users will have the option to disable AI features entirely through a dedicated kill switch. Additionally, the redesign promises faster page loading, the return of Compact mode, expanded personalization options, and stronger accessibility support. You can find the full details in the dedicated piece linked above. In a new blog post today the company once again reiterated on Nova and also emphasized other new and upcoming features like the settings revamp that is intended to make it easier for users to understand browser settings. In order to make it simpler for users to keep up with such features Mozilla today is launching Firefox roadmap. Hence enthusiasts and interested users will be able to check out what's cooking and also share feedback about the upcoming additions. Alongside the roadmap announcement, Mozilla also highlighted what's new in Firefox 152. One of the biggest additions is the arrival of Tab Groups on Android. The feature, which has already been helping desktop users organize large numbers of tabs, is now beginning to roll out on mobile. Users will be able to group related tabs together, assign names and colors to them, and return to them later. Mozilla says support for iOS will arrive later this year. Firefox 152 also introduces the aforementioned redesigned Settings experience. The company says the changes are meant to make controls easier to find and help users discover features they may not have previously known about. Existing preferences are not changing, though they are now better organized. Another notable addition is the new Blocked Tracker Widget, which provides a visual overview of Firefox's privacy protections by showing how many trackers have been blocked over time and the types of tracking activity the browser has stopped. Looking ahead, Mozilla revealed several upcoming roadmap features. They include customizable keyboard shortcuts, as well as enhanced PDF editing tools that will allow documents to be split, merged, and reorganized directly within Firefox. The company is also working on bringing Multi-Account Containers into the native Firefox experience thus removing the need for a separate extension. Meanwhile Firefox's built-in VPN is set to expand to mobile devices. Mozilla is also developing AI-powered features like Quick Answers, which can provide concise responses to voice queries, and Smart Window, its optional AI browsing experience that is now available without a waitlist. Finally, a new Power Saving Mode is in the works and will help reduce the impact of resource-heavy tabs on mobile devices in order to extend battery life. The video below summarizes the upcoming changes in an easy to understand format: You can find the announcement blog post here on Mozilla's official website.
    • Dead on arrival at that price. Like they missed the mark by multiple hundreds of dollars - this should actually undercut the Macbook Air at $899 if they want any sort of sales / further adoption of WoA
