It will be in just months IMO, since free trial will be rolling out in PC fair. Somewhere around August or September I would say, but not sure about the coverage at that time.

That's strange, as I do have accessed to the advertising campaign for one of the companies doing WiMAX and so far, they say it isn't ready. We'll see how it is.

Oooo, which company is that?

I was approached by some promoters today at mamak and they were looking for people to sign-up for WiMAX. Looks like their working all around the clock. Anyone gotten approached for WiMAX yet?

Which of the four companies is that? Nevermind that actually, since I'm not getting one of those when it's first launched. Will wait for reviews and feedbacks from early users first.

802.11y is said to have an outdoor coverage radius of ~5km. However, 802.11n has an OCR of ~0.25km (despite offering a higher maximum data throughput). Read more about it here. I'm not sure about WiMax and the speeds it can offer so I can only recommend going with WiFi.

I'm not at liberty to say :p . At the moment, we have other issues to deal with, namely the MTV Asia Awards.

Looks like they must speed things up, MCMC wants them to roll out by next month, or a penalty will be imposed. Read here.

Damn it, that means more late night deadlines and "circus time" with the clients for me :pinch: .

Finally there's a report from a trial user:

I'd be more convinced if it's using Speedtest.net. It's meaningless if it is testing speed within the country itself other than countries more websites are hosted. Looks quite promising however, the only thing I'm worrying is if this will maintain when WiMAX is officially launched and more and more users will use it for P2P.

Don't worry to much, the government is well known for its "no action, talk only"

You have no idea of how the advertising industries work in Malaysia. The government are the best clients of all, as you rarely get too many jobs at the same time  ! On the other hand, private clients are a bane here. Some of those that we get have no sense at all when asking for what the want in terms of their product. A member of my family, who works for another advertising company, has Bank Islam as their clients and they force you to work on their product, even on public holidays and with unrealistic deadlines!

Seems pretty good the speed. But its same everywhere right, when more users are on it, it will slow down?

If at that time there are many towers, then if one tower is full, users can be directed to another tower, which if they do that will lessen slowing down of speed.

Are you leonalim from MB? If yes, hope you won't mind me posting the picture you've found
