Emo and goth to be made illegal in Russia

Recommended Posts

My God, now social niches are dangerous, right? I dislike those niches as much as anyone, but banning them just speaks tons of the intolerance of the russian goverment.

In the other hand, considering the very nature of those trends the Russian goverment just gave them the fuel to make them stronger.

I wish similiar laws were passed in the US, Canada, and Australia. This should be banned out right since, it is causing harm (suicides) to the general public.

...

They should ban rock and roll too!

Damn kids on my lawn, get off my lawn!

Isn't this an infringement of their human rights? Do they have those in Russia or are they one of those old countries living in the past.
AFAIK, Russia and Human Right never went together so well.

but if i wear black clothes and listen to metal all day, that doesnt make me a god doesnt it?

im not looking white in any way (and yes i do Nerd a lot)

i hope this law gets into holland aswell XD

Adults who dress as emos and goths are full of fail. I saw three guys who were in their mid 20's in tight black jeans with hair covering one eye and walking as if they were the center of attention. Let me see their list of accomplishments after "turning one away from the world" and other silly gimmicks. It's just a teenage fad of pure fail.

Apart from that, this law would be unacceptable in the US since being emo and goth does not harm anyone around the person who's in that fad. It's an infringement on a person's rights. Let them kill themselves if they want to. At least they're doing it without being a burden on others, except for all the teenagers who commit suicide and place an unfathomable grief on all the people who cared about them (parents).

I was about to respond to this but, this post has shown its faliure from the writer far too easily.

What a pile of crap.

That's ridiculous, as if there weren't any other problems.

Oh wait, this basically isn't a problem, but actually their good right according to Human Rights.

Then again....

AFAIK, Russia and Human Right never went together so well.

true that.

They should ban rock and roll too!

Damn kids on my lawn, get off my lawn!

hahaha, you made me laugh haha.

Good one!

Russian government can do whatever it wants to do since it's more fascist than democratic. Too much govt. control for me to feel comfortable.

Apart from that, majority of people are finding this really funny because emo's and goths are silly drama queens and have their own specific fashion that emphasizes their pointless messages.

God bless the Fatherland! And it's not Goth that is a huge scene in Russia, it's Rivetheads, do not get them confused. Which mixes military uniforms with tattoos and piercings.

You beat me to it! It is nice to see others who know enough about russia to know the difference between a Rivethead and a goth. We got a few Rivetheads around her and believe me, they are ANYTHING but emo. Just a bunch of military boot trench coat lovers that like intimidating people. Usually their harmless.

I find this really sad.

And what about metalheads? Emo, goth, and metal are NOT the same. They don't look alike and emo, gothic, and metal music arent the same either.

Speaking of ideology, wouldnt metal be more of a "threat to national stability?" We all know what happened in Norway when the second wave of Black Metal emerged. XD

Rock on, CCCP!! \m/

This should be a world-wide law. Someone needs to step in and tell these kids what f^&ing tools they look like.

 Somebody needs to step in and tell you about being tolerant and understanding. They're not hurting you so frankly it's none of your business how they dress or what they look like. You may not like it, but it's their right to express themselves however they'd like.

Oh, I'm an opinionated ******. I'm well aware of that. And they are hurting me because I have to see them on the street and see how stupid they look. This makes me very grumpy. A grumpy me is a not happy me.

What about my right not to have to see people that look like complete tools? There is not a fashion trend in the past 100 years that looks so stupid. I say we put a stop to it not only so the rest of society doesn't have to look at them, but for their own good as well :p

It all starts with banning emos/goths, then it'll be long haired men/hippies banned, and eventually all Russians will have to dress a certain way or else!

Sound like a past wartime? Hmmm.. I don't agree with their look but that's them being them and expressing themselves.

For people to say to them they're effin weird, well I think long haired guys are weird! LOL! And buzzcut woman scare me, but I woudln't make it illegal.

Everyone has a "look" they like. Like obese people in tight fitting clothes *shudders*

    • I used a Pixel 10 Pro XL when it first came out for about 8 months. When I first got it, it was using Google assistant and that was fast, when asking it to call somone etc. Then it automatically switched with some update to Gemini. Doing even the simplist of things like asking it to call someone in my contacts was soooooo slow compared to Google assistant. I guess it had to go out to the cloud to do that? Back on iPhone and while Siri is dumb right now, it does do those simple things, like call someone, set a timer, star the stop watch etc, really fast. That an while I like Google Material Design 3 over iOS 26, they Pixel 10 Pro XL was so slow in comparison to the iPhone 17 Pro I am using.
    • I use Gemini in my rotation of AI clients...that work pays for. It is good at most things, better than copilot for imgage searching and making images, worse at writing vs Claude and way worse at hadling technical issues when it comes to Azure stuff. I also use YT premium and maps. Anything else Google is a pass for me. I have now seen multiple people locked out of their Google accounts for reasons that are just very vauge.
    • Microsoft is building an AI datacenter that "uses less water than a fast food restaurant" by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to build a new datacenter campus in Pecos, Texas, as the company continues to invest billions in AI infrastructure. The new facility, called project Kilby, will reportedly have a capacity of 2 gigawatts and will be one of the largest single capacity additions in the company’s history. To power the campus, Microsoft signed a 20-year deal with Chevron to supply natural gas from the Permian Basin, America's largest oil field. This deal is set to become the largest collaboration to date between a U.S. oil and gas giant and Big Tech. It’s no secret that Big Tech has often been criticized for exploiting natural resources for its AI developments. Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of that negative consensus by promising to build its own power supply for the new datacenter, independent of the public grid. The Pecos datacenter will be powered by a power plant hub, built by Chevron, with up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-fired capacity, with potential to scale to up to 5 gigawatts. The facility will include at least seven GE Vernova turbines, with first power potentially coming online as early as late 2027 or early 2028. The power plant hub is part of an approximately $7 billion investment by Chevron, making it one of the largest dedicated energy projects tied to a single datacenter campus in the U.S. Microsoft hasn’t publicly disclosed the amount it’s investing in the new datacenter. Microsoft has also committed to implementing a closed-loop cooling system that will only require an initial water charge to operate. The company said that “the total lifecycle water use of this datacenter is only a fraction of that consumed annually by a typical fast-food restaurant.” What the press release doesn’t mention, however, is how much water the natural gas plant itself will consume, or how a 20-year fossil fuel commitment squares with the company's pledge to be carbon negative by 2030. The construction of the new datacenter should provide over 6,000 construction jobs at peak build-out, and create hundreds of operational job roles once the facility is built. Via: Reuters
