New Server going online today!

Recommended Posts

I'll tell you what else is broke though.

The ability to upload a profile photo - I'm trying to update mine as it's quite out of date but it won't allow a new one to appear :(

Not quite yet, hopefully one final push (AFTER pizza) and it'll be done :D

Good stuff! It's been pretty smooth, although was quite tedious trying to post news in the Gamers Hangout last week with that Slashdot incident.

Good job guys for keeping the site up and running (Y)

Enjoy the pizza too :p

Members names that begin with A should get some free Pizza for suffering through the awful server transition....

 ;)

Dave should get a holiday for putting up with members who's names begin with A without banning them due to the stress they've caused me! :p

I disagree. Staff whose names begin with g should get some free pizza. Just because.

Shhh, back to your cage Dave, you're work is almost done :p

Haha just joking, server move was smooth, only one or two small hiccups, well done (Y)

Yeah, we're back on the apache boxes with the live site now, bet you hadn't even noticed ;)

To Do:

Move IRC (In Progress - Being a PITA)

Move services subdomain

Move staff jabber server

Update apache/php on dev box

Collect A level results

Mucho Drinking

Uninstall stuff from dev box and general post-move tidy up

Change nameservers back

How are the speeds at the moment folks?

My post count > Your post count.

I'm cooler.

Fine for me.

But occasionally I've been getting server busy errors - Not had one in a while though.

Pah, listen to this. A month with a higher post count thinks he owns me :p My join date > than yours (and my original account was from 2002 so even greater, if I knew the details )

The tides will change once again (Y)

Speeds were a bit iffy earlier on today but it's been fine so far tonight.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.
