New Gamers' Hangout Policy

Recommended Posts

Now now children, it's been a long day and I don't feel like banning anyone (all the staff will say that is weird coming from me) - so please stop the bickering and obey the new policy.

Radish?

Indeed, it's not Andy. You are upset because I have a valid point.

And you still never commented on why you post more positive articles in the Microsoft forum than the Sony forum. I'm sure that there are an equal amount of positive articles on the net. And why waste your time posting these articles if you know that the "regulars" are just going to take offense? Why not save your breath? Why create more problems for yourself? Maybe you like the attention. Maybe you like to make your point know, because you can't live without anyone taking everything you say to heart. Well, we get it. Everyone gets it. You got your wish. You won the game of Internet life. Everyone knows what you hate about the PS3 and why it is inferior. Stop driving it into our heads, please.

How about this. Let Sony people post Sony news, and Microsoft people post Microsoft news. Do I see Audioboxer post negative articles in the Microsoft thread? Not usually, not as often as you do in the Sony thread. But I'm not here to turn this thread against you. I said what I had to say in a civilized manner. I'm finished arguing. I tried my best to be nice, but I am not a dog. I'm more than sure I can find more than a handful of people who can agree with me, and I don't need someone to say "You're so right, Alex. Don't waste your time with him, Alex (N) " to know it to be true. You're biased, and so am I, so agree to disagree, not to turn everyone to your point of view. Humans will be humans. :)

Also, one more thing, I'm not kidding, especially with what you've had to say for many many months and possibly years. ;)

Wow! QFT!!!

Let's get one thing cleared up for the last time. I have posted news on Neowin for about 5 years now, and pretty much stayed here at Neowin for the Gamers Hangout after my inital reason for visiting the site. I use the same websites for news each day (who will occassionally use a different source themselves). Those different sources are obviously out of my control as it all depends on where interviews are performed by whatever website. If you have a problem with the negative news, it's not my fault. If you want to live in a bubble where everything is only positive go ahead and do so. You don't need to click on my topics.

As for comparing me to AB, he doesn't post news anywhere near the scale as myself or another member of the GH. He likes to post topics on game updates for the best part rather than the daily news in gaming. I cover both. So with that in mind, AB is also more of a Sony/PS3 fan than he is of other consoles and goes out of his way to post news and updates on games he is looking forward to etc. If I seen the news before him I would do the same, but he obviously visits websites I don't and they take longer to trickle down to the ones I do visit. So bearing that in mind, I post all of the Sony news which he skips out, some negative and some positive. I don't pick and choose negative topics just to cause troubles on the forum, I pick and choose the topics which are most interesting or informative.

I post more MS/360 news for the exact same reason I pointed out above that AB does for the PS3/Sony. He prefers that console and is far more interested in some of the titles than he is on other consoles. I visit Team Xbox and X360 Fanboy each day and post any news like I said which is informative or interesting.

Like I've said, I've posted news for years at Neowin and I've never ran into any problems doing so. You can be sure if there was a problem the moderators would have put a stop to it a long time ago. Instead, I've had plenty of comments from gamers (from all consoles/pc) and moderators telling me I'm doing a good job and to keep it up.

What you have pointed out though is the "regulars" in the PS3 section cannot stomach negative news and would rather take their frustration out on me because I am the one posting the news. Sorry, but I didn't write the news so you are gonna get nowhere and I will continue to post news like I have done. The same goes for a lot of the new members in there. They can't stand to see an opinion which doesn't agree with their own and they do nothing but troll and flame bait.

I suggest you read this post..

So you may as welll give up on this little mission to stop me posting news or comments in the Sony subform because it's not going to happen, and taking advice from a member who has 100% warn will be the last person I look to for advice.

Finally I will add I am not biased in anyway at all. Enjoying one console over another is by chance that the 360 is the console which provides me with the msot entertainment. If I was a bigger fan of the PS3 instead would you be telling me the same things now? of course not, because you've already pointed out you are biased. I own both consoles, I enjoy using both of them, one gives me more entertainment than the other and I dislike a lot of the decisions one of the companies makes. Simple.

I'm not here to turn people into Sony haters, or win any wars with members or this "internet life" crap you are talking about. I post my opinion just like anyone else. In fact the only reason you call me out is because by chance I am the one who posts a lot of news in the GH, and if it wasn't me it would be someone else. You were perfectly happy to laugh over my signatures/avatars a few weeks ago and even went out of your way to PM me about them. Perhaps it is really you who is seeking the attention here, seeing as you took the time to write a lovely big reply to call a member out?

Your post violates the new policy.

As for you, what rule have I supposedly broken here? I was not the one to call out another member, Cormier was.

I don't know, it feels like these new "special" rules are slowly turning the GH into a ghetto.

In my point of view the normal rules applied just fine to this section, it's up to the users to adapt to rules, not the other way around.

Each and everyday that goes by, more and more types of discussion are becoming taboo because people are afraid to get warned or banned just by speaking their mind, even if they do so in a respectful manner. I don't think that's good at all.

for a change I agree with you, the previous ruleset was just as good, and its unfortunate that tougher rules have been applied because of the few who break them.

.... The same goes for a lot of the new members in there. They can't stand to see an opinion which doesn't agree with their own and they do nothing but troll and flame bait.

I'm sorry mate, whilst I agree with alot of what you have said, the line I've quoted above is far from true. You are one of the most stubborn people on here. You think your opinion is right, and never, ever wrong and you go to great lengths to try and prove this, even after you have been proved wrong. It's not just the new comers.

Good post though.

    • Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations expansion gives the Slayer a brutal Chain Spear by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last year, id Software released Doom: The Dark Ages as a prequel to its reboot series, offering a look at the legendary Slayer character during an ancient war between Hell and Heaven. Today, at the Xbox Games Showcase, id Software returned with a new announcement that unveiled Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations as its first story expansion. The expansion will see the Slayer being betrayed and cast into a "merciless purgatory only escapable by confronting haunting truths." Somehow, there is one ally in all this chaos seemingly attempting to help our protagonist escape his fate. Players will be ascending this prison and fighting plenty of new demons and abominations as they work to free the Slayer's followers. One new aspect of the expansion will be the Chain Spear. This new weapon is described by the studio as a "uniquely satisfying combat system that rewards mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility." Check out the trailer below to see the new weapon in action, where the Slayer is seen using it to even pin enemies to walls. id Software is also preparing a free update to all owners of Doom: The Dark Ages that will land alongside the new paid expansion. Dubbed the Ripatorium 3.0 update, this will add more customization options, an improved pass code generation system, and preset options for players diving into the game's arena challenge mode. Expansion buyers will also receive additional maps, demons, and new weapons to use in this mode in addition to the story levels. Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations expansion is out on July 7 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with a $19.99 price tag. Those who own the Premium Edition or the Collector's Bundle will receive the expansion for no extra cost as well.
    • Hyped for this. Replayed the remasters recently and they're so well done, and Crash 4 was great too. I trust this team to deliver.
    • Ninja Theory's new Hellblade game is action-focused and set in Purgatory by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Ninja Thery has been building its award-winning Hellblade series since 2017, delivering Senua's Sacrifice and Senua's Saga since then. Today at the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, the studio had a brand-new installment announcement featuring Senua again, but this time, she is in a version of purgatory, and the focus is on the action. Simply named Senua, this new entry is described as a "full-on action-adventure" experience, delivering an expanded focus on combat, puzzle-solving, and freedom of exploration. The developer says that it is keeping the same high production values and storytelling features of the previous games while giving what players have been asking for in the gameplay department. The entirety of Ninja Theory is now working on Senua, giving the project much more manpower than ever before, while also letting the team draw on its action roots from Devil May Cry and prior titles. However, the studio also confirmed that its previously announced Project Mara horror experience is no longer in development. Alongside snappier traversal moves, Senua will be able to take stealth and direct combat routes. She has access to her own sword, plus any enemy weapons as well, with dual wielding also being an option for most dropped melee swords, axes, and other weapons. Outside of melee combat, Senua will be able to use special abilities that let her alter the reality around her. The world is said to be about twice the size of Hellblade 2. While this won't be an open-world experience, the linear story will let players explore their surroundings further than before. The story of Senua will be set after the events of previous Hellblade titles, with our protagonist being stuck in her own version of Purgatory. The series' well-explored psychosis themes will return as well. "She’s trapped between life and death on a quest to reach the afterlife and be reunited with the ones that she’s loved and lost," adds the studio. "Her belief is that by healing the wounds of her life, she can find the peace that is the key that unlocks the gate to the afterlife." Senua is releasing on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 sometime in 2027.
    • Windows has had it, it's called camera frame server. I recall when it was first introduced in an early Windows 10 release it caused issues and there was a registry entry to disable it. Seems like they disabled it by default at some point. Windows 11 brought that toggle to the settings app (not just registry) a while ago.
