Lost - Season 5

They are most definitely Rose and Bernard. Jack comments when they find them "for their clothes to have decomposed this much these bodies must have been here for at least 50 years" - or something to that effect. The time periods fit.

Rose & Bernard are 'currently' living in 1977, and look very healthy. Even if they suddenly died, it would have only been 27 years when Jack discovered the bodies in 2004. It still could be Rose & Bernard, but they would have had to travel back in time again.

How can you survive a Hydrogen Bomb? She would have had to face the detonation of the bomb even if briefly (before the losties jumped forward in time).

How do we know the same exact thing didn't happen to Desmond when he triggered the failsafe? Maybe the failsafe was a hydrogen bomb detonation... they know it would work since they saw the Losties disappear after the first hydrogen bomb exploded. ... or, they are all dead and season six will indeed be the zombie season.

can someone actually explain to my, the whiole statue thing, i still dont understand why its there.

It's a bit like the Egyptians putting up the Sphinx, they put it there maybe to commemorate someone or for a reason.

still doesnt rly make sense. a statue in the middle of an island, which has nothing to do with egypt?

Yeah I know but who's to say how old the actual island is...it's clear with all the hieroglyphs going the island is very old and the statue could of been put up for a god of some kind...we don't really know but I am sure that's one question they are going to answer (even if they can't all in just 17 odd episodes)

No it doesn't at all.

Jack isn't going to be an expert on how fast clothes decay. Also the writers said that Adam And Eve will prove they had certain plot arc's planned from the start (the time travel). At the time the episode was written they probably didn't have exact dates on all the time travel stuff, just that eventually Rose and Bernard would end up in the past and die there.

And it was sort of those conversations which obviously happened way back in season one when Locke and Boone found the hatch that were the early precursors of time travel. I will say, though, that the first significant event in the show where we were thinking in the back of our minds that this is going to require a story telling element that isn't traditional narrative, is the discovery of Adam and Eve in the caves.

As I am halfway through re-watching the first season. Most of Rose's conversations have been "how she knows Bernard is alive" - which for me adds to the fact they knew they were bringing him back from the tail section, to eventually fulfil the Adam and Eve Skeletons.

I know there's no actual proof, but I rarely claim things as facts on here, but this I am SURE of and I will eat my hat if it doesn't end up being them.

Question: This is probably a long shot, but got any Lost scoop? --Jeff

Ausiello: Yeah, having Lost scoop in late May is about as unlikely as me combing through my old transcripts and finding an unused Damon Lindelof quote pertaining to the show's series finale. OMG, looky here: "We?ve been planning out the final season for four years now. And of all the talks we have had about the show, [reuniting all the castaways] is the subject that has come up the most. The ending was almost where we began, and we had to figure out how to get there. It's like a wedding where the reception is the part that requires the most planning and is the most fun to plan. We've exchanged our vows and I am ready to go party."

So MANY unanswered questions, so little time, I don't know they can answer them ALL in just 20 or so episodes?

Seems The Final season is gonna be a mind-blowing reveal in EVERY week!!! :D

Isn't Jack a Doctor, and a Doctor should know how long a BODY decomposes?

    • Hello, Christian Maas' XVI32 is a nice (and very small) hex editor. Speaking of hex editors, many years ago a colleague and I who both worked at Tribal Voice managed to edit a copy of the company's PowWow instant messaging client to make it behave better now that all of its lookup servers and other server-side tech was gone.  The program didn't support NAT (RFC-3022 was introduced in January 2001, the same time Tribal Voice was shuttered), but it still worked okay if you manually set up port-forwarding on your router.  The server at http://powwow.jazy.net/ hosts a copy (usual warnings about downloading and running untrusted code from random internet servers apply). I occasionally use some tools like Funduc Software's Search and Replace and Application Mover when I need to make mass-edits to text-based files or move programs with a hard-coded installation directories, respectively.  When I need to figure out the exact LCD panel inside of a laptop, EnTech Taiwan's Monitor Asset Manager is my go-to tool for that purpose. JD Design's website (now hosted on github.io) has a number of interesting freeware and shareware utilities.  I used to use their TouchPro utility to set the file timestamps on software I was mastering to match its version number (e.g., version 3.00 of a program had all of its files dates set to 3:00AM, and so forth). Karenware has a number of interesting freeware utilities, too. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • I still use HexChat! Not really as ancient as the 1994 AutoCAD above my post, but I have never found anything better to replace it. Yes we still operate an IRC server https://www.neowin.net/irc/ 😛
    • At work we still have a couple of people that use a version of AutoCAD LT purchased in 1994. This predates Windows 95 and works fine on versions of Windows up to XP. Its long since run in an locked down isolated XP VM, accessible via RDP. I did install LibreCAD for them, however they said it was just too different to get to grips with. In all fairness one of them is now 75 and the other is almost 60.
    • On my music making (non internet) PC Sony Acid Pro 7.0 Adobe Audition 2015 Korg Legacy Collection Windows 7 SP1
    • Anyway to download these versions without being on the Experimental builds?
