[Official] SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation

That will be because it's bluetooth!

Do you have any other wireless signals in your room?

Yeah? :(

I don't think I do, but I'll check.

You're probably right as sound quality through it is perfect, it's just popping/crackling.

That's been my experience with every bluetooth headset I've used / owned at least.

Not really sure what causes it, if it's just bad quality parts used in BT headsets, or if other wireless signals are the cause..

It's strange it's doing it when no audio is being fed through it though - When it's idle.

I'll turn everything in my room off bar the PS3/TV later and see

I stop noticing it when I get into concentrating on the game, and as I said quality is awesome, I just didn't know if it was faulty or a downside of bluetooth as I've never owned a bluetooth headset.

I'll try pairing it up with my phone later somewhere else in the house/outside the house and see if it still does it. If it does, I guess it may be faulty as there can't ALWAYS be something interfering?

Yup thats exactly the same as my headset, just sitting at the XMB and it still pops and crackles.

The same goes for a lot of headsets out there, even Apple's iPhone headset does it.

Let us know your results, it'll be interesting to see if you can get rid of the crackles. Otherwise I guess it really just is BT headsets in general or indeed faulty.

When paired up with my mobile and idle, it doesn't pop, but I need to go try a call to my mobile.

edit: Okay it seems to be behaving now, no more popping? Oh well, good news. I think it may of been enabling high quality mode that done the trick. I didn't do it myself, but I noticed when I removed the device and re-registered it it popped up saying HQ mode. When I first done it earlier I don't think it done that.

To manually switch between modes,

Acessory Settings, Manage BT devices, press triangle on the headset and go to information.

Also, question for you Munky. If I buy a bluetooth adapter and plug it into a 360 USB slot, could I use this headset? My current 360 headset that came with my 360 was stood on a while back. It still intermittently works, but it's not ideal if you move the wire whilst playing.

I got the game for $35 with the Headset like 3 weeks ago, really good game but im holding on until they release the Trophies :)

I would as well, but as I said it's my first Socom so I'm quite noobish  Need to get better or I wont even get any trophies!

It's realistic, more so than easier pickup and play shooters like Halo/R2/etc.

Yeah, thats why i like it so much. killing monsters, or futuristic space men get old after awhile IMO

Yeah the only thing I can compared it to is kind of like the PS3's Counter-Strike.

Okay the game is a slighty slower paced than CS, and even in CS if you're good you can still play at god/rambo, but it's got the need for teamwork or you're sitting out round after round from dieing.

Running in guns blazing in this = death, or if you're lucky you might take 1 or 2 guys down, but you'll still die.

I also really like all the gun customization and realistic recoil/shooting. Makes it so much more satisfying when you pull off a long range kill, yet still embarrassing when you screw up close range

Hope we can get NW games on the go, especially after patch 1.3. It's running fine for me just now with minimal lag, but that's probably more to do with me connecting to USA servers as there are no EU servers yet.

Quite the opposite actually, this game rewards Rambo players and that is the reason why it falls flat on its arse.

Rewards them how?

If you charge about like an idiot against a good team you = dead.

Or if you run about as a loner, you wont last long.

Obviously if you're a really good player, playing against idiots you'll be able to pull the above off, but I'm talking about coming from my perspective and being new to Socom.

you are both right really, cause most of the time if you go just running around being retarded most likely you will not last very long. But then again there are those people that run around with the mk.48 that just hold the trigger button down and just fire everywhere, they can do pretty good with that sometimes. but snipers usually take them out before too long. or me with my m-14 and high scope :p

Rewards them with kills.

You will be dead in any game if you play against a good team, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out. But finding a overall "Good" team in pub. games happens once every full moon in this game, so running around guns blazing rewards you in this game 9 out 10 times from my experience. No, you don't need to play against idiots, you just have to know the game and have some kills, nothing else.

But you've just described every single FPS game online in a way. Of course you get rewarded when you kill.

Unless you play with friends it's luck of the draw how good your team is.

You criticized the game saying the rambo approach was it's downfall, then understood that if you play against good opponents you can't be Rambo. Which is my point.

There's always a balance and in my playing of this so far, the Rambo approach you can pull off in other "hold down button to fire" FPS games, which is most of them, is not do-able in Socom.

Biggest reason being you die, you're out the round (in many of the ranked game modes). So unless you like watching kill cam, you better not act like Rambo.

I've played on the maps quite a few times when you have to set off a bomb, you have to work as a team on that or you'll fail.

Today, I wanted to give you the first glimpse of SOCOM Awards and PSN Trophies.

This is a very big addition to the game and one we are really excited about. In-game, you can see all of the SOCOM Awards by going to Records and then Awards from the main menu. We have three different types; performance, service and weapons.

image.axd?picture=good_conduct_web.png

This is one of my favorite awards. As you can see, we display both the progress towards achieving each part of the award as well as what type of PSN trophy the award will unlock (Bronze, Silver or Gold) shown by an icon. Awards which have multiple criteria will show you progress for each criteria. It takes 8 full working days under controlled conditions for SCEA QA to collect all of the trophies in the game. SOCOM: Confrontation is not going to be one of those "easy trophies" games.

One more note, you can only collect trophies by playing in ranked games. We want the trophies in SOCOM: Confrontation to really mean something.

We will have more details regarding the SOCOM: Confrontation trophies in a PlayStation.blog post. We will link it here once it goes live.

There getting closer to the patch release :D

Good news for patch 1.3.

They said it was sent off to testing a while back, but the fact Q&A has to unlock all trophies before it's released would lengthen the time it's being tested.

Now that it's confirmed it took them 8 days, 1.3 should literally be out any day!

But you've just described every single FPS game online in a way. Of course you get rewarded when you kill.

Yes but I never, EVER play against a decent team in this game because those players just seem to have vanished - then it's a god damn downfall! Just because you CAN POSSIBLY play against some decent players at SOME POINT IN TIME does not take that negative point away from the game. Pulling a Rambo is different due to its **** design bugs, though it's more possible than you might think - Try to play the game a bit, perhaps get to know it and you may see it as well instead of defending the game without barely playing it.

And I play Elimination whenever possible, meaning no respawns. Though I still pull off a Rambo whenever possible because it rewards me with more kills and action than sitting around camping unlike OTHER tactical games where camping is a better option.

So keep going on and on how everything "Oh requires teamwork" but this game is so broken and easy, it's just a burden in the long run to stick with teammates because they usually end up getting you killed. Bunching up in this game is the worst idea ever.

Oh well, sorry to hear you're having the bad luck of playing with the wrong people.

There's a lot of newcomers to Socom for sure, but I've had some nice games in teams with everyone communicating and small groups forming to work together. As I mentioned in the plant the bomb maps, there's no way the teams I were in could plant without working together.

I also said it was from my perspective of being new, I can't talk for you if you're an online god and can wipe teams out in Socom yourself! You must be pretty damn good if that's the case, as even if I were better at the game, it's still very easy to get pushed into circumstances where defending yourself is virtually impossible.

Out of interest how long have you played it for? You said you broke your DS3 pretty much a couple of hours after buying it due to bugs.

You don't need to be a SOCOM god, just need to work out the top secret tactics of bunny hopping and strafing which this game pretty much allows and rewards you with a longer round and another kill to the count. My old Sixaxis is still working.

This game really is the bottom of tactical shooters. It has every potential to be an awesome tactical shooter but just fails.

Oh and after that many rounds played, I doubt it's "Bad luck", plus the Danish players on my list totally agree with what I've said because we have discussed it at length - The entire SOCOM scene has just crumbled and now it's just all those random-FPS boys looking for a kick on the PS3.

Oh well, apples and oranges.

I find it refreshing from all the other FPS games, but it is my first Socom experience.

Looks like we won't be teaming up online

Hope some other NW's do, as it would be good to play with non-randoms.

As soon as January-February rolls around, I will start playing this game again. Possibly even later this month. Just getting all of the other games out of the way I want to play, then have a bit of a lull before Killzone 2. (Y)

Of course it's "more" realistic. SOCOM doesn't have aliens in it :p
