Closing Comments

Resistance 2 is one of those games that manages to expand on its predecessor in every way. The single player is epic in scope and in story, which is practically worth the price of admission by itself. Then you throw in the extremely engaging co-op and competitive play, which expands on replayability in just about every way possible. Toss in a generous number of unlockables, trophies and community support, and you've got a phenomenal experience. This is an exclusive that PS3 owners should be proud to have in their collection.

9.0 Presentation

A continuation of the launch title franchise, Resistance 2 continues the battle against the Chimera. Lack of a narrator does hamper some of the cohesiveness of the game, however.

9.0 Graphics

Resistance 2 does have some weird technical and visual glitches, but the sheer number of enemies onscreen at once adds to the feeling of a massive battle for humanity.

9.0 Sound

Otherworldly sounds coupled with great voice acting and ambient effects heighten the action of the game.

9.5 Gameplay

Single player is a great experience with an epic scale to the campaign, but adding co-op and competitive play within the game only serves to augment the overall gameplay.

9.5 Lasting Appeal

A fast paced 10 hour single player campaign with multiple unlockables and difficulty levels are matched with extra multiplayer modes, gameplay options and community features.

9.5

Incredible OVERALL

(out of 10 / not an average)

Definitely not worth buying then

Just got hooked on two full 60 player team deathmatch games there.

Holy **** this game is fun :woot: It was non stop action. I didn't do that well though, position 30 something first time, then 50 odds next

Not one bit of lag at all, smooth as silk.

I only went into a competitive match for a few mins before leaving.

But what time I did have there was pretty cool, it felt like a true warzone with 60 people running around shooting the crap out of everything and anything.

Specially when a bunch from each side get into a fight in the middle of two buildings, it was pretty awesome, but then I ahd to go out.

I think I will have to buy this game, I enjoy the co-operative a lot with the simple mission based objectives, and enjoyed the story form the first and look forward to how they will advance it.

Plus with people moaning at the co-operative, I would like to see someone come up with a great way of doing 8 player co-operative missions without having to just add health to the monsters.

In the end you can only add so many enemies with a normal amount of health before it gets silly on screen, but a bunch of enemies with scalable health and difficulty is form what I can see the best way to do it.

Though what I would have liked which I cant see is in the game from the beta is more customization for multi-player co-operative characters.

With 60 players I can understand not everyone looking completely different, but with maximum 8 different players to have on, I had hoped that we could make them unique instead of just adding new equipment for each class.

I think you can, it's just that the beta is really limited.

Gameplayer - 9/10

R2 circles the arcade FPS G-spot pleasurably, and occasionally even manages to find it.

So does this mean us Uk'ers could get the game much earlier than 28th?

If so are there places that will ship to UK?

http://www.videogamesplus.ca/product_info....oducts_id=14450

?29.30 and a couple of pound postage.

I'm ordering from there, they mark down pricing on packages as well so you avoid import tax.

Have you ordered from there before? if so how is delivery?

No I haven't, but reported delivery is 5-10 days.

Seeing as the current rumored EU release is the 28th, that's still a good bit before.

However the EU date could end up sooner.

Only just checked my email after getting back off holiday, yesterday. Low and behold I'd been accepted into the beta on the 23rd :/

tbh I don't even remember signing up for it. I swear I'm gonna get Alzheimer's when I'm older :(

Had a bit of a scare too, when the code wouldn't work, but a quick google told me to use the old US account. (why didn't I think of that?)

Downloading now :)

P.S. Benidorm is ****!

The beta servers are shutting down today (Thursday) mind.

Yeah wtf? That's a bit early to be turning them off isn't it?

Did you guys even arrange a NW match? If we can't get it together for the beta what hope is there for the final game? :/

it's only for the US, since the game is coming out next tuesday. i believe it'll still be available for europeans until the middle of november.

    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.

    • Hello, I have used a few TEAM Group SSDs, USB flash drives, and Micro SDXC cards in the past. They all seemed to work fine. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
