[Official] Gears of War 2

Recommended Posts

Underoath, please stop the mass PM'ing of game news. Not only is it late but I can really do without the empty "threats" of being deleted from your "exclusive" friend list. I really couldn't care less.

I've sent two, I've already removed the people. So, I'm assuming that you would like to join them?

I can definitively say that this game is every bit as visually impressive live as it is in screenshots.

The MS people at E 4 All were (trying to) crack down on people taking screenshots of live play (even though there are several videos out already). Oddly, they didn't seem to give a **** about the 12 year olds playing. Way to stick it to the ESRB, Microsoft!

If I was big on shooters (and had a 360), I'd get this. Unfortunatly, neither are true (I most likely won't be getting KZ2 or R2 either).

But yeah, I was diggin the Horde mode maps.

It definitely has 5 player Horde which is when you just go fight enemies together. (I think)

4 Player Co-Op is pretty likely imo for the campaign.

The Horde I saw had at least 7 players over LAN, so I assume it may go up to 8.

Basically I sent out two messages to all my friends to let them know I will be removing them if they do not get Gears of War 2. He seems to be offended by that...so I removed him.

Hmm, ok definitely is something I'm going to avoid because it sounds like a fight waiting to happen.

Submission looks very interesting and fun for a LAN party, but not promising for something like Xbox Live. I can't wait for Wingman though. My friend and I can't wait to get a kick out this!!

Just 29 more days...

EDIT: I believe there's a new developer diary up on the official website. It focuses on multiplayer. (Second slide)

That's been known for a while now. It's for everything -- campaign, co-op, multiplayer, etc.

I just watched my first video of the game where it was mentioned, good it's not competitive multiplayer only but I still think achievements like that are retarded.

I personally like the achievement, I'm a dedicated Gears of War player and have been playing it since Nov 7th, 2006. I think it is a great achievement as well.

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
