[Official] Fallout 3 - DLC for 360/PC released!

Recommended Posts

What if I liked Oblivion, loved Morrowind and TOTALLY LOVED the past Fallout games? I really dont want to be dissapointed.

I don't think you will be disappointed, but the game has just become more akin to Morrowind/Oblivion than past Fallout games due to the switch to 3D, and the borrowing of a lot of elements from the more recent Elder scrolls games.

Whatever way you look at it, I think some of that was to be expected with the switch involved in creating a modern Fallout game.

I can't comment much though, as unlike others I don't have say 10+ hours under my belt and a full understanding of the story line.

There is a hell of a lot of traveling involved though, and the world is pretty damn empty :/ It is a nuclear environment though :p But you are running around for 5-10-15 mins at times with no interaction with anything.

Fast travel is there though for visited places, and you'll 100% be using it.

I lub u Draken!!

Without giving away any details, the plot is mostly what you make of it. Like the first Fallouts, you can run straight through the main story or engross yourself in the atmosphere. There are some well developed characters and a number of caves, vaults, and small towns.

The best part of it all though is you actually have a real impact on the world and those around you. The actions you take, small or large, have a ripple effect. Don't be suprised if your reputation starts preceding you, good or bad.

I'm a pretty fanatical Fallout fan. I've played through both 1&2 as everything from slayer to arms specialist etc. I absolutely love the franchise and played its various incarnations like Tacticts and BoS.

Same die hard fans here! Can't wait to play this game!

In the prev game actually you will found some "special encounters" (and some crap encounter where you fight only monster with crap weapons) in the vast empty desert. Sometimes a "special encounter" give a very powerful weapon (BFG or sniper rifle I forgot) that I spent countless hours try to find that special encounters... Ahh... memory...

As far as the oblivion comparisons are concerned, I'd have to say that there are obvious similarities due to the engine, but F3 is without a doubt an entirely different game.

For those like me, who felt that Oblivion was console first developed garbage, dont worry, this is a fallout game and it will still live up to your expectations. The randomly generated content and pointless leveling system have been removed. You actually feel as if youve become more powerful every time you level unlike Oblivion with their broken scaled leveling system.

While I wasnt a fan of fast travel in ES4, I think it fits in perfectly for F3. Like 1&2, you can go to your overmap and travel directly to whatever location you have visited. However, just like F1&2, these locations will only appear on your map after you have spoken to someone and they mark it for you, or you have found it yourself. There are no breaks in between or random encounters to come across during fast travel though.

I find the 'barren' and 'empty' comments a little puzzling from reviewers. One of the biggest draws to the first game for me was the fact that you are traveling a large barren wasteland filled with dangerous mutants and scary animals, by yourself or with a companion or two. The towns and trading hubs are large and located appropriate distances from each other, the scattered raider and slave camps are plentiful, and theres even a mutant town or two to battle through. Yes, you are primarily by yourself, and yes the wasteland is barren of people for the most part, but I've always found that to be essential in giving you the feeling that life really was decimated by atomic bombs. The feeling that maybe you really were better off in your cozy vault, the sickening fact that this irradiated wasteland is all you have left to live for, and a spark of hope when you come across a cobbled together village, that maybe life will prevail and humans can survive.

All in all I'd give F3 an 8.5-9 so far. I cant wait to get it up and running on my PC for a stealth/ninja run through and actually use my flashlight ><. If you are a fan of fallout you will love this game despite its flaws. It really is the game we have all been waiting for, and while I still would have probably preferred BI rendition, Bethesda has done the series proud.

Funny to see how many pirates we have :p

"unofficial reviewers" pls

 there's no point to travel back like in oblivion (well some times), and no horse :(, could been a double headed horse :p or a bike!

Guys, game isn't out yet and no official reviews yet. Might be just me but can't we wait until nearer the release day to give your opinion because its quite obvious that you downloaded the review copy of the game at the moment.

Afaik and seen on NW in the past, you are allowed to do so without giving away any spoilers (or at least using spoiler tags) and not giving any info out how to obtain copies.

The more I see the more I'm affraid the game will be some FPS with RPG here and there, because hey guys, it's Fallout ya know.

So, I will wait until reviews show up online.

Oh, and I don't have the pc system requirements yet anyway... :D

OXM gives Fallout 3 10/10

fallout3a1.jpg

As you can see on MaxConsole, the US OXM has given Fallout 3 a 10/10 review score, saying the game essentially delivers on every count.

There?s an image of the final page of the review through there, which concludes:

?Between its engrossing story, ginormous world, well-crafted RPG side and white-knuckle FPS combat, Fallout 3 completely, utterly gives you your $60 worth.?

Bargain. Take a look. Game?s out at the end of the month,[/Source: VG247url]

First of all, OXM didn't give it a 10 out of 10. They gave it a 10 out of 11. They have an 11 point scale, where 11 is a perfect game. Thus they've never given out an 11 and never will since they argue no game can ever be perfect (which I agree with). So if you do the math, a 10 out of 11 would actually be in the 90th percentile compared to other review scores aka a 90-95% or so.

    • Mac does nothing of the sort. You can change the default browser very easily it does not nag you and when you do this, it does not open something still in Safari....like Windows does with Edge.
    • I do not remember anything happening to Apple and Google for bribing people not to make Apps for Windows Phone. Edge barley has a foot print to matter. If the other browser companies want more of the Pie, they need to do better. I use Brave on all my personal device. However in industry, Edge of default, as we can manage it easier with MS tools.
    • On the one hand, it shouldn't be difficult. You buy a computer, you decide what OS you want, which browser etc. Simple enough. But that's the techie side of things. My sister, my mother, wouldn't bother with such a thought. And I'm pretty sure that if you presented a window asking them what to pick they would say, "I don't care! I just want to access my Email!"
