NXE Sign-up [Now Closed]

I question the importance/usefulness of this preview program when the actual final release is only weeks away...

I doubt there is any real technical reason for it, there was never any mention of it being a 'beta'. it has just been touted as a way for a few people to try it early, so i'd imagine it's just a stress test.

Well, 3000 participants is no where near the 10+ million people who'll be downloading the NXE when it launches officially. It's a way of creating more hype for it.

How was it poorly handled? There was a sign up that everyone had a chance to take part in. Can't make it much fairer than that..

Not true. Most of Europe was asleep during the signup period. Hardly fair. If they had the signups open for a full 24 hours, it would have been fair.

I agree, it was fair.

People had the chance to apply and were told the selection would be random.

I'm in EU and managed to sign up (Y)

If they had moved the time we'd hear complaints when US or AUS was asleep instead. There is never going to be a time that suited everyone. For all we know they planned to leave it running 24 hrs, it just so happens it reached the user limit long before that.

Not like it matters now, you can continue to cry over it if you want though.

Exactly, somebody would have complained no matter what MS would have done.

Who here expected any more to get in than did get in? All we said was that MN himself said there were a few thousand places while you claimed there was only 1000. Tens of thousands of people signed up, so it's no surprise that most of us didn't get in, but quite a few certainly did.

It goes to the dashboard when you press the eject on your DVD. but it does not spin the dvd drive (only for a piracy check) so there's no reason to eject it anyway.

there is a movie here showing how it works http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-tour-new-xb...perience/17-88/

O thanks bro.

I knew it was something like that, i forgot the eject button kicks it back to dashboard. But hey, as long as it doesnt spin the disc im ok.

Sucks for you 20 gigers, im running on 120 souly becuase my dvd drive is LOUD as HELL. A LEAF BLOWER.

So ill rather get the bigger hard drive.

Anyway, thats for the vid.

Got it installed & runnin , looks excellent , though the kiddy music doesnt go well with my pornstar image ;) . Installed Saints Row 2 to HD & it loads almost 60% faster.

all my old themes are useless now as they STRECH which screws up the background image. Id recon all the gamer pics are useless too as we shall be using avatars from now on.

Gamerpics work fine.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates. Diagram faster with keyboard shortcuts. draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 changelog: Uses electron 42.4.1 Updates to draw.io core 30.2.4.
