oh cool thanks i didn't even notice that. and what are you a journalist? nice writing skills!

Nah, i think cara is just trying to keep her sanity, we all know she's preparing for a Detroit Loss in the First Round...

/me runs quickly.

Not professionally. ;)

I use to write a column for a NHL site but gave it up a while back when work got heavy. I have decided to revise my old habits here and post some stuff for the forum population. :)

As for xStainDxx... The Wings have a better chance of advancing than the Isles so... ;) Sticks and Stones by break my bones but a puck in the face can kill you. ;)

I might also point out to all of you Detroit bashers...

http://www.detroitredwings.com/poll/poll_view.asp

;) The poll from the Official Detroit Red Wings site...

How will the Red Wings vs. Ducks series play out?

1359 - Wings in 4

3794 - Wings in 5

1086 - Wings in 6

85 - Wings in 7

121 - Ducks in 4

73 - Ducks in 5

98 - Ducks in 6

77 - Ducks in 7

My vote is in bold. ;)

Once again you people will see that the Anaheim vs Detroit series will be the best of all the current or future series this year. Everytime Anaheim has made the playoffs Detroit beat them, swept them actually, and Anaheim did exactly what they did tonight to them in years past. Tonights game was about 5 min longer then the other game that went to 3 overtimes in '97. Maybe people will learn to respect west coast hockey, Orange County sure punched alot of people in the mouth tonight.

irate over the obviously bad call which unfairly disallowed a goal by Luc Robitaille which would have won the game early in the overtime session.

luc had a nice shot, just didn't go in the net, very close, but they just didn't get in in the net. hitting the post doesn't count. sorry

avs lost...doesnt really matter though, the wings lost and thats all that matters for right now :)

It does count when you hit the post...the inside of the post is technically (by NHL Rules) a goal, it's the outside which doesn't count.

Thus, the goal by Lucky Luc should have stood as two of ESPN's replays clearly show the puck going off TWO of the posts, both on the inside.

But, as with most games, the refs tend to rule against Detroit... For example, they were called for 'Too many men on the ice' in 12 straight games, a new league record from my research.

it's not a goal until the entire puck has crossed the red line. it is not possible for a puck to hit the post, rebound out, and be a goal.

Rule 57:

a) A goal shall be scored when the puck shall have been put between the goal posts by the stick of a player of the attacking side, from in front and below the crossbar, and entirely across a red line the width of the diameter of the goal posts drawn on the ice from one goal post to the other with the goal frame in its proper position.

Anyone watch that great game with the Ducks and the Wings?

Triple overtime and the Wings dominated but the Ducks came out on top... I want the Wings to win it all, but that goalie on Anaheim is a wall

that was a great game...i was happy to see a favored team lose...nothing against the red wings but i have to pull against them since they are defending champs...

Check your NHL Rule Book there BroChaos...

Should a puck enter the net in such a fashion as it were to strike one or more parts of the goal-post while the majority (50%+) of the puck is across the goal line, a goal will be awarded.

<Edit : Off that rule doesn't mention a defending player's ability to score against their own net. Though with all the rules I suppose many things are covered under many rules. >

which rule is that?

i've played hockey my whole life and have never heard of such a rule, and i do not see it in the current rule book.

how on earth can a ref ever declare a puck "50%" in? what if it was only "49%"? that just doesn't seem to be a logical statement....

Don't ask me, it's just quoted under the following

Section 21 ( Guidelines for Allowing Goals )

In the manual I have. Got it (signed by Bill McCreary) at an NHL Charity Auction.

I suppose it could be an on-ice call but given it's in there I always took that as an officially sanctioned rule. I'm going to write Panger at ESPN and ask him about it and see what he responds. I'll let the ESPN Archive Monkeys do the work. ;)

Have you ever read the rules and then guidelines for calling penalties? The entire thing is a contradiction. A rule says something can be called one way yet the officials are clearly told it requires a different set of criteria.

Either way I'll post the responce I get from Panger if/when I get it. :) Might end up trying Barry or John since I see their eMails right on the ESPN site.

hmmm, i've never read the "guidelines". i don't think the guidelines mean anything though. the rule book is the rule book. there's no way they would ever count a goal where the puck only crosses the line half way...it's just not possible.

the officials made the right call tonight.

*edit* i'd be interested in hearing what they say

You and me both. :)

It's the Official Ref Manual so I don't know if they are 'law' or 'suggestion' but there is some intresting things in there. When to step into a fight, what you can throw a coach out for saying... It's a good read if you can ever get a copy. ($500 USD At Auction for me)

    • Alien Isolation 2 will bring a new protagonist and setting, watch the reveal trailer here by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Only a few weeks ago, Sega and Creative Assembly dropped a teaser for a new Alien Isolation. Today at Summer Game Fest, Alien: Isolation 2 was officially announced with a new trailer while also confirming a whole lot of information about the setting of this survival horror project. Check out the reveal trailer above. Leaving behind the Sevastopol space station, the sequel will take players to a remote colony world. With a Xenomorph (or more) on the loose, players will be navigating both the surface of the weather-ravaged planet as well as "the claustrophobic confines of the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station." Interestingly, Creative Assembly is leaving behind Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Alien's Ellen Ripley, as the protagonist too. While it hasn't confirmed a name yet, players will be taking the role of a new character for this new adventure. The setting is also being described as a new hunting ground for the Alien. This will have players improvising and developing new tools to aid in their survival and escape, all to avoid "cinema’s deadliest killer." "It has been over a decade since we created the original Alien: Isolation and I am so excited to show everyone the first glimpse of the sequel," says Al Hope, Creative Director at Creative Assembly. "Our dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been working hard to create a new, evolved Isolation experience continuing the legacy of the Alien franchise, making the eponymous killer smarter, the environment harsher and the chance of survival slimmer." Promising the same deadly tension from the original from over a decade ago, Alien: Isolation 2 is in development for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced yet.

    • Hello, From looking at the screen shots in your motherboard's manual at https://endownload.colorful.cn/EnDownload/MotherBroard/2022/Intel 600/Manual/Intel 600 Series BIOS English/Intel 600 Series BIOS User Guide.pdf, you go to the ADVANCED option at the top of the BIOS (UEFI) menu, then select SECURITY in the list of options on the left.  From there  you can enable and set the Secure Boot mode.
