Who will be the first Subscriber

Recommended Posts

I'll make you nice fellas a deal!

I'll upgrade to Subscriber2 if you guys let me change my username and/or reset my warning level to 0%. I'm getting kinda sick of looking at an 80% thats going to take a few years to clear not to mention my VERY outdated online avatar.

Hehe, I await your reply with great anticipation.

Just caught your name in the latest activity section. Looks like you're the first with the badge/colour change :p

Yeah my subscription ended a while ago and I was planning to re-subscribe, but I was just too lazy to. This gave me the incentive to do it. :)

Oooooooooohh, shiiiiiny. :D

I kind of feel like the instructions for this manual member upgrade should be posted on the main page somewhere...

1. So current subscribers who wish to be upgraded are to send payment of 20 euros to [email protected] via paypal. (What conversion rate do we use for USD?)

2. Then we have to send a PM to Redmak requesting verification of payment and the manual upgrade

Is this process correct?

I haven't seen any instructions about what to do unless its in this thread...alot of people probably pm'ed Redmak but I would wait till my sub expires but it hasn't expired in a looooooong time (which is known by Redmak)

Where do we send how much again?
It's ?20 b>for an additional year without ads (for the duration of Tier 1 & 2). So fo?30 you'd be getting almost 2 years ad free (a bonus for current subscribers as a way of saying thanks).

This only applies to current subscribers who have an active subscription older than yesterday!

Checked AdminCP and the address associated with subscriptions for paypal[email protected]. Remember to include your membername!

?20.00 = $27.09

?30.00 = $40.64

?20.00 = ?18.73

?30.00 = ?28.10

?20.00 = $38.59

?30.00 = $57.89

?20.00 = $33.35

?30.00 = $50.05

?20.00 = $209.83

?30.00 = $314.75

?20.00 = $47.03

?30.00 = $70.55

I think that co:)rs everybody on Neowin. :)

I think that covers everybody on Neowin. :)

Thanks for the conversion amounts... but what's the difference between the two options... my understanding so far (I don't think any of this has been explained clearly)...

For €20 you get an "additional year without ads" which would just upgrade your current subscription to ad free

And for €30 your current subscription is upgraded to ad-free, plus you get an additional year added to the end date of your current subscription?

You've taken it out of context from my original response to another subscriber who only paid for a ?10 subscription 1 week ago.

I have explained this in multiple threads already but I'll attempt to make it clearer for you.

You paid ?10 for your current subscription, which hasn't run out yet.

You can choose to pay an additional ?20 for the upgrade to No Ads.

We will, at no extra cost to you, enable "Ad free" for the remaining duration of your current ?10 subscription, and add the additional year "No Ads" on top.

Thanks that clears it up for me to. I think your "18 months for ?30" example threw me off and I thought the 30 was to be paid now.

Anyway I've PM'd the staff regarding an upgrade =)

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
