Windows 7 build 7068 Screenshot (Yes, it's real)

Did a good upgrade from 7057 to 7068. I thought this thing wasn't suppose to expire until June 2010? Mine says it expires 3/1/2010 = March 1, 2010.
That's the one that was on the MS RC download page.

I made a fresh install. Everything went fine, I was happy, because my wifi signal was stable for 5 hours. But ! A few minutes later I started to get the same signal loosing thing, I had in 7057 and 7048. So the wifi driver for my Dell Inspiron 1525 - Broadcom wifi - is still a piece of **** or 7 is doing something...

Anybody else having this problem ?

WEI is still messed. Even more in 7068. Apparently my computer is only a 2.0 rating now. Down from 5.9.

It depends. Do a full format (not quick format) of your HDD then reinstall 7. Some things like a slow HDD reaction time limits your maximum scores to better reflect what part is causing the sluggishness of your PC.

My Inspiron 1501 had problems with 7057, but no issues with 7068 thus far. Have had it on all day with no problems!

Broadcom wifi is common issue.

Why don't you change Broadcom wifi to Intel wifi? That can be done easily.

Hello lads, quick question: What I gathered from the previous pages is that one can install x64 on any new machine. Or am I wrong?

This is the processor on my laptop:

CPU Type Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo T7250, 2200 MHz (11 x 200)

Lastly, if I can install x64 on my laptop, can it be an upgrade of W7 Build 7057 x86? I am aware that a fresh install is the better option but:

1) I would have to get myself some DVDs as for some reason, even if I only bought the laptop last year, it does not boot from USB! (If someone has an easy guide to booting from LAN then that would be great!)

2) It's painstaking to reinstall all the apps I have everytime-Office,PS, AV, Firewall etc etc, as 7057 is my main OS.

I do have keys for x64 which I acquired when MS were giving them away.

Great. Thanks.

Seems like am gonna have to get some dvds afterall. Anything I should know when moving to x64?

Nothing special. Pretty much all devices have 64 bit drivers (unless they're *really* old and were discontinued 5+ years ago and such).

32 bit apps work fine as well, but programs like firewall and antivirus require a special 64 bit version. All major vendors are offering one though, so no problem either.

I now keep a folder on a separate drive with all reinstall programs and have all data and documents put on that drive. Had to considering how many leaks keep coming out! Always best to do a clean install, never an upgrade.

There is another option which is to run setup from your desktop, select Custom install and just overwrite the current partition. If you overwrite, it puts all of your files in a windows.old folder where you can easily move them to wherever you want them to go. This is cleaner than upgrade. Or you can use a second partition on your h.d. which you have created and formatted using your Disk Management utility (safer shrink). When a new build comes out, I just delete the oldest partition, recreate and format it then install there. You can even do this with your C: partition since the boot files are kept in a hidden recovery partition which you cannot access.

Why waste DVD's if you can clean install to a freshly formatted partition from the other partition by un-rar'ing the iso (with WinRar or PowerISO) and running setup? Just askin.
