Great application! I'm having an issue with not being able to auto-login when I click on the "go to my inbox" icon. I believe it has to do with the fact that I'm using a # in my password. Could this be causing the issue? It takes me to the gmail login page with a message " The username or password you entered is incorrect" but if I enter my password it takes me right in.

Thanks for any insight on this.

It would be because it puts your password at the end of a url.

I've already requested this be changed.

this is shaping up nice, but a few suggestions;

1. an audio notification informing of new mail is a must.

2. enlarge the email count button so it is readable.

3. the preview pane when hovering should be solid white with a transparent border. (the text is barely legible.)

4. color notification on the button would be amazing.

i would love to replace Gmail Notifier with this, but without the above (1-3) its not pratical.

otherwise, good job, this is a nice start.

Every time I click the question mark on the settings screen I get an unhandled exception:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I'm using the RC build (7100) but I don't know which version of gmail notifier plus I'm using >_>

Every time I click the question mark on the settings screen I get an unhandled exception:

I'm using the RC build (7100) but I don't know which version of gmail notifier plus I'm using >_>

The same thing happens to me. Also, sometimes I get an unhandled exception when I'm not interacting with the program. I'm also using the RC build and the latest version of Gmail Notifier Plus – 1.2.

What a fantastic app!!! I know that the fact that the overlay is not shown in small icon mode has been mentioned, but not sure if the following has: How about using the Windows 7 taskbar progress bar function to show unread emails (apply the progress bar to the icon, fix it at 100% for unread email (giving a green background), or change to an error state (giving a red background) for an error condition.

Hi, I just installed this on my Windows 7, but it is staying in the taskbar, can it be moved to the system tray? I prefer to save space on my taskbar, thanks!

The whole point was to take advantage of the new taskbar features, hence no tray icon.

Indeed. The Windows 7 Developer Guidelines basically deprecate the use of the system tray (as the Quick Launch tray has been effectively killed). See http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Windows7AppQuality.

First off, I just like to say this app is AWESOME and I very much appreciate it. I am however having a fairly big problem with some of the core features. Our company actually uses GMail, but with our own domain (ie https://mail.google.com/a/ourdomain.com) I can see the emails in the jump menu but when I try to open them, compose new message, or go to my inbox I get "HTTP 400 BAD REQUEST".

Am I doing something wrong? I have "[email protected]" set in the username field, and again I can see emails just fine in the jump menu, my problem is when I try to open it or do anything related to my actual inbox.

I hope I am explaining this correctly - thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

I'm another one who signed up here just to say what a great program, well done! One issue (which I note a few people have) is proxy support. Works great at home - doesn't make it through proxy at work.

We don't have proxy settings specified in IE - we use a wpad.dat file specified in DHCP to set the proxy - this way when users go to sites without proxy access, they don't have to remove the proxy from IE. Is there any way you could use the settings from IE for access? Firefox supports this "Automatic" method also.

Cheers, and once again, great program!

Ben.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with ad blockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Samsung Browser'. It has very little bloat and is a nice-looking web browser with an inbuilt 'Ad blocker'. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. This browser can also install Chrome extensions. I have a system wide Ad blocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the web browser, but over the whole system. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt ad blocker because of that.
