g3 is the best 4mp camera you can buy. it's fantastic. tons of features, great quality pictures.

macro means 1:1 representation of an object on the medium. if you have a point and shoot camera, you're "technically" not shooting macro,

since the sensor is so small, but that's a technicality. :)

what kinda problems are you having?

i don't know how much control you have with your s400, but you want lots of light, a high aperature number (or f stop), and manual focus helps.
