Anyone else noticed that Home Premium has already gone up to ?79.99 on the MS Store?

And Professional is ?189.99?! it's only ?10 for Ultima:s :s

So glad I ordered on Amazon yesterday

http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/Microsof...ndows/Windows-7

Probably to make the rebate look bigger than it was.

Btw comparison of the prices if they still had rebates:

Home Premium

Old Rebate: 67% (?49.99 slashed down from ?149.99)

New Rebate: ~37% (?49.99 slashed down from ?79.99)

Professional

Old Rebate: 55% (?99.99 slashed down from ?219.99)

New Rebate ~47% (?99.99 slashed down from ?189.99)

Same here. Yeah, only ?10 more for Ultimate is a little we:/d :/

I've noticed on Play.com Home Premium has gone up to ?79.99, http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/3-/379971/2-/Promo.html

Retailers are already rolling out phase 2 of Microsoft's pricing strategy.

They're shooting themselves in the foot with this- techies with the awareness of the pre-ordering who've missed out and will have to pay ?80+ for HP are now simply going to use illegal copies of it; for every ?45 pre-order sale they've now stopped they're not gaining another ?35+, they're just losing the sale.

Wow, I thought you'd get longer than one day before they roll out the new pricing strategy  Glad I ordered my copy last night.

I'm fairly sure the prices were supposed to change at the end of July. Perhaps they underestimated demand.

Hmm, the price just jumped to ?219.99 for Professional.

There are 3 stages to pre and post release pricing. Stage 1 is ?89~ rising up to Stage 2 & 3 upp to ?219 or more. It just means that particular store has sold out its allocate stage 1 and 2 stock and is now selling the last stage since all discounts end starting Jan 2010.

Look at other shops, they will have stock of the cheaper units.

I've bought 2x home Premium E @ ?44 each and also home professional E @ ?89

Guess who's going to be making some profit on eBay come XMAS t:pe? :p

But then in reality they're still saving, so why have they removed the rebate signs?

It's only a preorder discount, once the allocation has beenfilled that discount ends, or when the date period expires.

Someon on another forum explained it better:

In an attempt to try and get the point over, lets look at Home Premium as the only version here.

It will satisfy the need of the majority of users.

Now the best way to understand how the pricing works is to remember that the price of Windows 7 Home Premium in October, on release day is ?150.

So - just to get the point over, Windows 7 Home Premium costs ?150.

Now, prior to this release date Microsoft are offering two rounds of "pre-orders".

Now the clue here is in the name - these are pre-orders.

You make the order long before the product is released and because you're buying early you are being offered a discount.

Remember, Home Premium costs ?150, so anything less is discounted.

The first round of discounts is what is happening now.

This is the first opportunity to pre-orer Windows 7 Home Premium.

This is a limited time offer - limited either until the 10th of August or until all alocated stocks are used up (whicher comes sooner).

At this moment in time there is no "physical stock" of these items.

However Microsoft will have decided just how many they are willing to release at this price.

Once this allocation has run out then you'll need to wait for this second discounted period.

The second discounted period will enable you to buy Home premium at ?79.99

Once again, this is doscounted from the full price of ?150.

This discounted price again will almost certainly be limited - I'm sure MS will have put a bigger allocation aside for the slightly more expensive option.

However at some point that deal will stop too - and the price will go up.

Blame who you like here, but Microsoft did make it clear each discounted stage was limited and urged people to get in fast.

Add in the posts from numerous people on different forums buying for the sake of buying (buying 3 copies when they really only need 1, buying 10 copies to make profit).

Maybe if MS had found a way of limiting it to one per person....

As I have said before, even at ?150 this OS is an absolute bargain.

At ?150 for a retail OS that can be used for the lifetime (3yrs+).

It works out at leass than ?1 per week to use the operating system - there is not a snowballs chance in hell of you being able to defend piracy of said OS due to cost.

What prices are Professional and Ultimate supposed to be then?

Suggested Retail Prices are ?149.99 for Windows 7 Home Premium E and ?219.99 for Windows 7 Professional E

Also E buyers get added benefit of being able to install the same disc on more than one PC:

Still doesn't make sense that Ultimate should be cheaper than Professional.

You can only have Windows 7 installed on one PC at a time - to install it on another PC you would have to remove it from the PC which it originally installed on.

Thank the lord I pre-ordered when I did.

I can't actually believe it actually changed; I thought it would stay at that price until 9th August.

i'm glad i did it as well, i checked amazon today to see if they're still out of stock only to see the price went up !

    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for Dark Scrolls, Empulse, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The final update of June for Nvidia's cloud gaming service GeForce NOW is now available, and it is touting support for six more games. The company is also drawing subscriber attention towards the summer sales kicking off across stores, so they can stock up on more cloud-supported titles. Of course, the Steam Summer Sale is the biggest promotion, which is kicking off later today. "Supported Steam games can be streamed across devices with GeForce NOW, making it easy to buy a game once, keep progress synced and pick up where the gameplay left off on PCs, Macs, handheld devices, phones, TVs and more," says the company. "In other words, the Steam Summer Sale brings the deals; GeForce NOW adds the flexibility." Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active as well. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Dark Scrolls (New release on Steam, available June 22) SAND: Raiders of Sophie (New release on Steam, available June 22) Deer & Boy (New release on Steam, available June 23) EMPULSE (New release on Steam, available June 24) The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales (Steam) FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves (Steam) With the June expansions coming to an end, Nvidia should be announcing its July GeForce NOW plans next week. Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
