JFC danny -- again did you READ THE GUIDE??

You have no need to launch the text mode!! When you get to that part -- you need to connect to the box with your Browser from another machine..

You finish the config using your browser from another machine.. Sounds like your trying to login into the console -- you only configure network there, etc.. used in case of not on network can not use web browser, etc.

This the screen your see?

post-14624-1258149232_thumb.jpg

You need to open up the IP address of your CC from another machine -- its CLEARLY gone over in the guide.. Which you clearly have not even breezed though!!! :argh:

When you open it up in your browser you will get a screen like this

post-14624-1258149641_thumb.jpg

Dude as soon as SG Universe is done I will step through the setup for you.. But as sophism points out you need to go the IP of the CC machine -- really, Danny its not possible to be that dense -- is it????

Why in the world would you think you would go to the IP address of your router????

What IP did you give the CC machine when you setup it up, or if you set it up for dhcp.. Which Im pretty sure I stated it would prob be better to setup static.. But anyway.. If you log into the text mode on the console -- it will show you what the IP address of the CC machine is.

To log into the text mode you need to put in password of root, and then hit enter twice or tab over until continue turns red, then it enter -- then you will get this screen

post-14624-1258163959_thumb.jpg

I set it up so it's all automatic, I did not set anything specific. I tried what you said and could not get to that page. i boot up the machine i enter my root password and press enter. Then i get the options launch text mode graphics etc... when i click launch text it just says looking up localhost:82 then it says it cannot be found and it gives me 127.0.0.1:82...

After I typed /admin in the url i finally got it to work!!! This thing is freaking awesome. So far i got my webserver up email's everything!!!! :).

Its 2 am here i better get some sleep im done playing for the day and i have to shut down the server because the fan is KILLING ME!!! so basically everything has to be done through a different PC on the lan?

Two weeks to agree that CC is awesome. (Y)

If you haven't changed your box to use a static IP, then you just have the current IP leased from the DHCP server, and things can change. I would recommend that you change it to a static IP for administration.

Have fun playing! :)

"Two weeks to agree that CC is awesome."

Been longer than 2 Weeks I think -- but yeah!!!

And Mark is right -- when you put it on your network at work, use STATIC for its IP. Did you get file sharing working? Did you go with just the workgroup or did you setup a domain? I would REALLY suggest you look at going the domain route - it will make sharing files easier and even though you say you don't use security now -- you prob will want to once you learn how is it is to setup.

As to everything being done from a different PC, one of the benefits yes.. Its a web gui to manage, any retarded monkey could manage it ;) But if your ok with the prompt then sure you could do LOTS of stuff on the console. Or from a ssh/telnet shell.

edit: Just looked through the past threads from danny -- looks like I originally brought up CC at Sep 17 2009, 12:11, so that a bit longer than 2 weeks ;) hehehehe Did you mean 2 months ;)

Lol :)... Well I just installed CC and was testing a **** load of stuff and everything is everywere, web ftp, sharing files, i dont know were anything is anymore lol. I will be re-installing it in a few weeks again just to test file sharing. Also isn't my IP already static?

Did you set a STATIC IP on the CC box??

"I set it up so it's all automatic, I did not set anything specific."

If you did not set anything specific -- then NO CC IP is not static... Do you do it on purpose, or are you really this dense when it comes to even understanding the basics? If you had set the CC box to a static -- WTF where you trying to access your routers IP for??

What is an IP address? Do you even know really?

Seems clear you do not understand the difference between a IP that has been setup STATIC on the computer, or one that has been handed out automatically by a dhcp server. Where does a computer get its IP address?

You have any clue to what a netmask is? Or a gateway?

When you look at the output of ipconfig /all on a computer -- what are these things telling you?

What is meant by the term dhcp scope?? You need to atleast understand the BASICS Danny -- not knowing if your machine IP is static or dhcp - basic, basic!! Come on!!! How do you expect to run a network if you do not even understand the difference between a static ip or one gotten with dhcp.

If I tell you to set the CC machine to a static IP on your network, outside your dhcp scope -- Do you have clue one to wtf that means, or did I just write blah blah goooggly bleh gop blah blah blah??

If you do not understand something -- you need to let us KNOW, or we can not help you!!!

Well my copiers at work had dynamic IP's and everytime when we restarted them they kept on changing. So i gave all of them a static IP and they did not change anymore. The server obtained it's own address I know that, but wont it stay at this address or it will change at some point? How do I change it to a static is there an option in webconfig?

What error - what file, I dont see anything!

Check again.

Danny not sure why you would think a windows share would be your ftp server? As to access denied -- what permissions did you setup? What account are you using - did you setup just a workgroup or did you setup a domain in CC?

Without something to work I can not tell you what to change -- did you create that share in flexshare? Can you post a screen shot of flexshare in CC?

As to the servers IP changing -- if its DHCP, and you did not setup a reservation - then yes its possible for it to change.. Now if its on 24/7/365 then it should just keep renewing the lease and stay on the same IP.. But if you did not set a reservation and its dhcp, then yes it possible for it to change on you. Which is why I would suggest you set it static.

I thought this was for start up IT guys :) hahaah

I rather install ubuntu and go through everything lol.

How can I create 1 share that every user can see. Actually i created one in flexshare and all the users can see it, but no one can edit files in it, but can delete. I tried everything to create a http server or web server and its not working. some explanation pelase :)

Well since you created DOMAIN -- did you join any machine to the domain? Did you create any accounts? NO freaking **** they can not access shares if they are not given permission..

If you did not setup a FTP server -- then why and the F would you think that is your FTP server? Since you have its name freaking hidden its hard for me to know for sure what it is.

Nor did you post the flexshare screen like I ask -- Its for NEW admins yes -- Ones that BOTHER TO READ THE FREAKING MANUAL!!! It clearly states in the guide that you should enable WINS access if doing the PDC... But from your screen shot I can see yours is off -- So its CLEAR you did not even bother to even breeze over the documentation about creating a domain or windows file sharing.

http://www.clarkconnect.com/docs/Modules_-...-_Windows-Samba

WINS Server / WINS Support

If you plan on enabling PDC mode, using VPN, or have more than two local networks, we strongly recommend that you enable a WINS server on your network. If you already have a WINS server, you can enter the IP address of the server in the WINS Server field. Alternatively, the ClarkConnect system can be configured as a WINS server on your network. Enable the WINS Support option. More information on WINS is available in this Howto.

Do you even have Flexshares installed?? This is where you would create shares that everyone can use.

Danny I really really want to help you -- but your LACK of doing any thing on your own is starting to get very frustrating.. The product is very well documented, there are howtos for this howtos for that a great forum section, etc.. But seems you can not be bothered to read even the a few words of the documentation. Well NO F'ing **** your going to have issues if you dont RTFM!!

Here is creating a share that everyone can access

post-14624-1258273238_thumb.jpg

Here is accessing said share from a machine that is part of the domain and with a domain user account that is a member of the allusers group.

edit: Just noticed your running the Enterprise version -- which is NOT free! Your going to have to pay for use of that version, if that is what you want fine.. But why did you not just grab the FREE community version?
