Is it true that IE doesn't come installed in it at all?

I can't see that myself, there are still too many sites that don't work with Safari well.

Would be a great move away from M$ if that were true tho.

I'd be very careful about upgrading..... something could go VERY wrong :no:

You can upgrade your install, as that's what I did.

I can't say that I recommend it however. The OS seems to run a bit more sluggish for me than most people report. I plan to do a clean install later on to see if it'll run a bit faster.

Is it true that you can now browse Samba servers from within the new finder, and that samba does not crash when you turn the other machine off?

Yes, that is entirely true. The Finder now has an option for 'Network' which you can go straight through into most Windows Based Network.

When you shut off a share, all it does now is gracefully drop the connection. :)

From the .pdf that came with the CD's it requires basically the same as Jaguar.
