I would certainly advise a manual update after install and before you play - it is Punkbuster, so it can tend to go a bit FUBAR now and again. The last thing you want is getting booted out of your first match :laugh:

It's a good idea to manually update PunkBuster. I did it periodically with BF2 back in '06, when I upgraded to Windows Vista.

Cool I will go ahead and do that then. I do definitely recall some issues with PB in the past but maybe I just got lucky as there really were never all that many, but considering it is so easy to update manually would rather just do it based on what you guys are saying.

The defibrillator is unlocked from the start in ranked matches. As for the med kit, you unlock that with 1400 points - just like the ammo bag and repair kit (1200 and 1000 respectively).

What do I need to do to get in a ranked match? The only option I have, for 360 anyway, is Quick Match.

Also, is 2/21 K:D ratio bad? laugh.gif

Okay. The server issues are beginning to bother me. Also, my game locked up for no apparent reason. I couldn't exit, minimize, or even bring up the task manager. Heck, I couldn't even restart my computer (restart button didn't work). I had to hold down the power button. :|

What do I need to do to get in a ranked match? The only option I have, for 360 anyway, is Quick Match.

Also, is 2/21 K:D ratio bad? laugh.gif

I don't know how to join a ranked server in the X360 version. As for the K/D ratio, that is really bad.

Indeed, been looking forward to play all day! I finally get home, make a pot of coffee and load up on the snacks, fire up the game and all I get is massive fail.

I sometimes hate centralized authentication servers :/

tell me about it, i had yesterday off, picked it up at 11 am and have only played maybe an hour so far... worst part is is that i can't even fire up single player. crashes to desktop EVERYTIME.

Hopefully they will have done some load balancing, added additional authentication servers or just fixed whatever the hell is going on because logging is can't possible strain servers that much!

But honestly, I had no plans of playing it tomorrow either, nor this weekend - I know it'll just be one big pile of fail with these issues.

anyone check their task manager? I tried updating my PB client and the first time i tried it said it couldn't do it. I checked my task manager and somehow i had about seven instances of the game open...

Yeap, lots of people are getting that. I never noticed it till a buddy of mine mentioned it last night when his game locked up. He had 4 instances open.. I checked and I had 3 showing up myself..?

I seen a forum post about it, with quite a few replies, but its blocked at work so I can't find it again and post it.?

@DL: Hey, atleast there not lying. I love BC2's multiplayer even on consoles and im sucking it up when i was playing my GF's copy on the 360. I myself am PC and am so much better. Mouse > Joystick for me, idk but my handle controlling the crosshair or a thumb. lol.

BTW Nice sig, glad you took my advice and went back to the nice clean look. Looks great and love the background XD. Should show me where you got the BC2 images from, i might just make a sig for BC2. Current one is a COD sig and it deserves to die like the game does on PC.

Just unlocked the game (thanks Sethos), wow has it changed since beta it runs smooth as silk on my Quad + 5770 with everything on max in 1920x1200 4xAA and 16xAF with HBAO off.

It definitely runs smoother. That's one big thing I noticed. Having a quad-core CPU helps a lot though.

Honestly Quad core makes more of a difference than the Video card. I am seeing a ton of people with 8800 GT's and Quad cores that run the game at max level with 30+ fps.?

      I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....

      I agree with both of you... It's absolutely imperative that science is completely based on actual proven facts and hard evidence and is not considered dogmatic in any way. Science is not a religion and it will never be, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be.
