why does it not get released till 24th? weird...

was hoping I could go pick it up today after i got my check, presuming school is canceled... 2 hour late start and tons of ice... and of course the website that is the most up to date crashed :(

might get Assassins Creed brotherhood

Yeah, just installed mine and i get the Server undergoing maintenance and then straight away i can go into GT Mode and everything else. So either a generic message for the game for the servers not being on/ready or lots of people are hammering the server... which means lots of places breaking release dates

According to Neogaf, first review is in from a French site:

My French is rough (been many years), but I can read some of it. Looks like the biggest issue was that it's not quite ready yet.

hmmm.. looking forward to see the english reviews lol.

^ i could have read it and translated it properly if i could read it at work. (i know french, canadian eh ;) )

Me too, but i"m at work as well and eating right now

But basically, they say that it is a great game for sure, just that they focused too much on content instead of the gameplay. The feel of the car is not that great. It feels like the other gran turismo, which are now technically surpassed.

A force of reports loosely justified by Polyphony, we well thought would never be able to insert Gran Turismo 5 blu - ray into a PS3. Finally, at the end of a chaotic sprint simulation landed in rays with a few days in advance! Have the promise to merge the real and the virtual held? Five years of development have enabled to carry out the fantasies of fans and especially to "The Real Driving Simulator"?

Gran Turismo 5 has, in recent months was at the centre of all imputations, sometimes revered sometimes criticized, any picture, any video contributing to this massive buzz the highlight was the announcement of the firm and final of 24 November release date. Wink of fate (or), the blockbuster finally elected domicile in superstores and specialty four days before the fateful date stores shelves. You must admit that output "Advanced" for a six times delayed game has something unique in the history of video game. Any, waiting has enabled Sony and Polyphony to measure the interest of the community of WG 5, allowing the developer to take its time to meet the expectations of each to the extent possible. No bad words game Gran Turismo 5 was expected at the turn and runway exit station! The average player is already slightly inclined base to forgive shortcomings and absences, imagine its propensity to absolve a development studio after five long years of waiting... As promises were skeptical, and despite the multiple reports, Polyphony has always, through the voice of Kazunori Yamauchi, displayed an unwavering confidence in her baby. Then, is GT 5 the ultimate simulation or already outdated product?

Interior view, thought first in prologue, arrives in GT5, offering very good sensations of speed.

Before answering this question and talk about the gameplay, it is essential to introduce the career or Gran Turismo here called GT Life mode. According to the well-known and scrupulously respected the serial model, it opens access level and progressive interest on five floors, racing starting of modest Sunday Cup endurance racing demanding that are. The player on his side, is a collection thanks to the market new and occasionally buying always slightly more expensive, a little more powerful, a little more pretty. Her choices are punctually dictated by strict conditions of participation (brand, model, year, power...) but it is also responsible for spending its money wisely to avoid find themselves penniless. Because your money, it will also invest it said store preparation which is to buy and then install parts on its cars to ensure the first place. There are also famous permits such as Gran Turismo 4, are not essential to have the right to drive. They simply allow new entrants to familiarize themselves with the very atypical conduct of Gran Turismo. However, developers have wanted not you open all the doors too quickly by introducing the concept of leveling. A level is therefore required to unblock access to shopping, increasing it to your success. If this point perfectly balance the progression, cannot be said of you allocations. You'll play in correct and realistic time frames but the fare displayed by some concessions require weeks and weeks of free leveling to sign cheques millions of credits...

There are very few new circuits in Gt5 but it is probably the most original.

Side gameplay, we must admit that the first contacts with the beast are rapidly falling excitation. A belief that the five years of development were used to anything to correct and to evolve the gameplay! So to speak, the expatriation is null, each of the expensive mechanisms in the series was renewed, is good or not. In addition to printing speed not always obvious exterior view (even with beasts of races), must deal with a hyper rigid pipe preventing any skill or improvisation. Gran Turismo is in fact still a set of against-shows more than a true racing game. This is felt also quickly when first contact inter-carrosseries disrupt the soundtrack sounds partially failed. Can we still rely on an opponent to take a turn? Yes. Bounces are always returning vigorously in a safety rail or an invisible wall? Yes. The IAS seems as heavy and ind?boulonnable its trajectory? Yes. Is it still possible commonly cut a corner without fear lesser penalty? Yes (not online). Then, developers are stubborn and buried in a lot of deciduous ideas or they preferred not to take no risk to not offend fan - boy poorly digests the expatriation? Probably a little of both. Still is it Gran Turismo rose from avant-garde to almost obsolete simulation status.

The rally, as in all Gran Turismo is fairly shattering.

However, they cannot see and the negative in this stagnation. The sensations remain unique and market racing game, there is no title that makes all reflect the personality and the profile of the car. Similarly, settings and preparation to focus on details that completely change the behavior of a caisse. Also, the first tests, often played with heavy and sous-puissants, series models provide perfectly this role of prelude to the possible the reduced weight/power ratio. If it is regretted clearly that most events are transformed into slaughter (for you or for AI) as model leads is difference timing paths or management of the moments of braking requirement and Acceleration pushes the player to lead impeccably. On PlayStation 3, you will find no simulation which takes into account at this point each feature of cars. If the gameplay still lacks flexibility, it varies widely depending on drive propulsion or pull or gear tires. And finally, it is this set makes it so different races from each other, well helped by thousand cars go, sweeping all genres, all times. Side channels, there is however a little less well off with the revival of many present paths since several episodes. Quickly, it rotates round 20 present places.

The interface will speak series regulars since it takes over the design of its elders.

The gameplay itself is stalled, but this does not mean that everything feels the musty in Gran Turismo 5! Including witness the emergence of an inner view however reserved for Premium game, approximately 20% of 1031 car models. The realization and the fidelity of the camera are variable, but its main asset is double speed printing. The other horse battle of Polyphony has been modeling of damage, first in the history of the series! What disappointment... Here again, less than 200 models are concerned but damage, bumper micro-rayures, short dirt, timid Embayments body... Physics was loup?e and damage are never to impact... See his vehicle amoch? should play the bombers and transform a rail crash-test wall safety! Another novelty in Gran Turismo 5, the weather! Claimed Horn and to Since the first cries stolen, dynamic weather conditions are here also that a fairly limited number tests according to the circuit which hosts. Inside prominently rain is also less credible that the presented us in the trailers... The weather is the final one more but could be better exploited. Finally, the races of endurance and certain special events introduce a cycle quite perfect day/night in the realization. But at night, the lack of visibility is sometimes exaggerated to make almost unplayable test... In summary, Gran Turismo 5 is full of good ideas but each of them has many defects and qualities.

Karting made the mistake of resume gameplay grand tourism... Not frankly adapted!

The contents of Gran Turismo is also inflated by the emergence of new licences and disciplines. We think for example the Nascar suction constant research is really well made, the phenomenon being perfectly simulated has always been in the series. The ovals were already there, heavy vehicles, only missing more to model some Motorsports and their famous tubular type chassis and the tour was played! It cannot be also positive by talking about which is perhaps the least credible game category karting! How, wearing the gameplay of large passenger cars to a Kart Polyphony could suggest a second being right? The led all in skid hyper p?chue leaves room for bland tests in which the go-karts simply turning about an axis... Meh! Finally, on the sidelines A-Spec racing, GT 5 proposes B-Spec tests where you coachez driver in real time. Honestly, this mode brings nothing and proves to be more annoying than anything else, the player is limited to "slowed down, accelerates guard your speed," to control the calm and the progression of his foal. Obviously, this mode takes much too place in Gran Turismo 5 because although it is unnecessary, there are lot of races decorate your bank account...

Circuits Editor is simply a generator circuit. Disappointing.

Gran Turismo 5 proposes for the first time a publisher of circuits. We didn't really what to expect but functionality is shining eyes of fans at his announcement. They fall down by noting that in reality, what is called circuit editor is simply a generator circuit. The difference is noticeable when the player has no control on the format of the circuit it wants to create. After you have chosen environment, it must first select a layout type which will serve as a draft. Then, to specify the number of servings which constitute circuit and then set the difficulty, the width of the road and rigour of turns. From there, the generator will do its work and to propose any fact circuit! A gadget, despite the possibility of sharing "creations" online. Another gadget, the photo service. Instead of being in-game, it allows taking photographs of models in picturesque locations around the world as the main square of Arhweiler Premium or Hangar Red... Different effects can be added to immortalize the moment...

The multiplayer online appeared in Gran Turismo 5.

But Gran Turismo 5, it also opens online multiplayer. And it is so much better! Indeed, no effort was conceded on-screen splitt?, always limited to simple and zappant races several cameras whose famous inner view... Online gaming was essential meaning to give boost to multi Gran Turismo. If goodwill is evident, the facts are less convincing. In addition to a poorly fichue interface (after each race or to each server, change the player is returned to the main menu of the game, lack of search filters, launch a race is chaotic...) there is lot of problems connection, maybe or maybe not related to the recent opening of the servers. Is that navigation is poorly thought and it sometimes fight farm to join a race despite the proliferation of the parties. On the other hand, it thanked Polyphony thinking to penalties for the bourrins or small malignant mowing the lawn. Unfortunately, on some systems, it's not enough (cf the last baffle the Sarthe circuit)...

Managed to pick up a copy of GT5 today! :-D Walked into a Game store in Stockholm, saw they had a ton locked in the cabinet so I just asked for a copy to see what'd happen. He paused, smiled, and said "Certainly, sir".

The install is taking forever, though. I left it at the start saying "20 minutes remaining". Came back 10 minutes later and the bar was 1/4 through and it said "19 minutes remaining".

    • AMD RX 9070 GRE AI, Blender benchmarks vs 9070 XT, 7800XT, Nvidia RTX 5070, 4070 by Sayan Sen Earlier this week, we shared the first part of our review of AMD's new RX 9070 GRE. It was about the gaming performance of the GPU, and we gave it an 8 out of 10. As a follow-up, similar to how we did with the 9070 XT and non-XT, we are doing a dedicated productivity review for the RX 9070 GRE as well, where we compare it against the 9070 XT, 9070, 7800 XT, as well as Nvidia's 5070 and 4070. This will include AI, rendering, compute, and more benchmarks. AI performance, especially, is a very important metric in today's world, and AMD also promised big improvements thanks to its underlying architectural improvements. We will be pitching it against the data we already have for the RX 9070, and RX 9070 XT, but also the Nvidia 5070 FE, MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X 12G, and Gigabyte Radeon RX 7800 XT GAMING OC 16G as they are in a similar price class, but also because we do not have a comparable 5060 Ti card lying around here that we can compare it against. Before we get underway, this is a collaboration between Sayan Sen and Steven Parker, who lent me his test bed. Also, there was no editorial input from AMD. First up, the specs of the RX 9070, 9070 XT, and 9070 GRE, which were given to us by AMD: Radeon RX 9070 GRE Radeon RX 9070 Radeon RX 9070 XT Boost Clock: Game Clock: up to 2.79GHz up to 2.20GHz up to 2.52GHz up to 2.07GHz up to 2.97GHz up to 2.40GHz Stream Processors 3,072 (48 CU) 3,584 (56 CU) 4,096 (64 CU) Ray Accelerator 48 56 64 AI Accelerator 96 112 128 ROPs 96 128 Texture Mapping Units 192 224 256 Memory 12 GB GDDR6, 18Gbps Clock, 192-bit Bus 432 GB/s 16 GB GDDR6, 20Gbps Clock, 256-bit Bus Effective Memory Bandwidth: 640 GB/s Infinity Cache 48 MB (3rd Gen) 64 MB (3rd Gen) Card Bus PCI-E 5.0 X16 Output 2x HDMI 2.1b 2x DisplayPort 2.1a Power consumption 220W 304W Recommended PSU 650W 750W Slot width 2x 3x Price (SEP) $549 $599 As you can see from the specs above, it is less than the standard RX 9070 in every way that counts, except for slightly higher Boost and Game clock speed. Design Moving on, the RX 9070 GRE we were given is an XFX Swift triple-fan, dual-slot design with two 8-pin connectors. At 30cm (self-measured), it will fit in most systems easily. There is no RGB either. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE by XFX from all angles. Test system Our test system consists of the following: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow (Amazon|Newegg) ASUS Z890 ProArt Creator WiFi (Amazon|Newegg) Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (Amazon|Newegg) Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet - 44x37 (Amazon|Newegg) 2x 16GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB (7200 MT/s in XMP) (Amazon|Newegg) Sabrent Rocket4 Plus 2TB SSD (Amazon) Windows 11 25H2 (Build 26200.8246) AMD shared a press driver based on the recently released Adrenaline 26.5.2 that we were required to use. We now move on to our benchmarks. First up, we have Geekbench AI running on ONNX. For some reason, the 9070 GRE does exceptionally well here in both half-precision (FP16) and single-precision (FP32). It manages to beat the RTX 5070 and RX 9070 non-XT, and is only behind the 9070 XT. Since Geekbench runs in short bursts instead of continuously hammering the graphics card, it seems the GRE's faster boost clocks are helping here. Next up, we move to the UL Procyon AI test suite, starting with the image generation benchmark. We chose the Stable Diffusion XL FP16 test since it is the most intense workload available on Procyon. The Nvidia cards do very well here, as even the 4070 out-muscles AMD's best fairy easily. The positive thing about the GRE is that it gets quite close to the 9070 non-XT in this test; this indicates that the VRAM does not play a very big role here, as SD XL relies on float16 (FP16). So this is something to keep in mind again. If you wish to work with float32 AI workloads, graphics cards with larger than 12 GB buffers would likely emerge as victors. Regardless, the gains are still massive on AMD's 9000 series compared to the 7000 series. Following image generation, we move to the text generation benchmark. This is one test where the 9070 GRE struggled, quite a lot. It seems that the 12 GB VRAM and lower memory bandwidth of the new Radeon 9070 GRE are hurting it quite a bit; the split is massive, especially in a test like Llama2, which packs 13 billion parameters. As such, in all the tests, the 9070 GRE is the slowest of the lot. Next, we tried Blender, and here the AMD GPUs were beaten by Nvidia. Rendering is something the Green team has always had a lead over the Red side, and it has not changed so far. On the positive side, though, the 9070 GRE shows significantly better results than the 7800 XT, which means AMD is on the right path. Catching up to Nvidia, though, will require a lot more effort. And we hope HIP and ROCm can keep improving. Wrapping up AI testing, we measured OpenCL throughput in the Geekbench compute benchmark. The RX 9070 GRE alongside the 9070 did not fare well here at all, even falling behind the 7800 XT. Interestingly, even the RTX 5070 could not beat the 4070 on OpenCL, so perhaps this suggests that OpenCL optimization may not have been a priority for either AMD or Nvidia in the modern era. Conclusion We reached the end of our productivity performance review of the 9070 GRE, and we have to say it's a mixed bag. Unlike the 9070 and 9070 XT, the GRE excels in some areas while losing ground fairly easily in others. Similar to how it happened in gaming, any time the card's memory subsystem gets hammered, it tends to fall behind the others. This was the case with text generation, wherein we saw the VRAM sometimes hit its maximum available 12 GB of usage with larger model sizes. So what do we make of the RX 9070 as a productivity hardware? It can certainly be used, but you have to know it has its limitations. For those looking for a GPU that can deal with more, AMD recently unveiled the Radeon AI PRO R9700, which is essentially a 32 GB refresh of the 9070 XT with some additional workstation-based optimizations. On a similar note, the new Ryzen AI Halo platform is something you can consider if you want to set up a local AI processing station. Considering everything, we rate AMD's Radeon RX 9070 GRE a 7.5 out of 10 for its productivity performance. Price is less of a factor for those looking at productivity cases compared to those considering the GPU for gaming, and as such, we felt it did quite decently on many occasions and can be handy if you need a 12 GB GPU and, for some reason, don't want to get Nvidia.
