Issues faced so far:

- Can't disable Astra connection for good; I can disable it after I log in, but I get an annoying message in my contacts list that I can't hide – I don't need synchronization; I don't need a middleman here.

I don't like keeping my information elsewhere, no matter what security measures they have. In fact, I wonder if there is a way to remove anything that was stored on their server. I'm usually not the paranoid privacy freak but considering I don't need these other features provided by the Astra account, I'd just rather not have it enabled at all as I won't benefit from it.

- Closing another tab will shrink the irc viewport (this area turns black).

- My twitter profile pic hasn't updated. They should refresh it when they check for new tweets.

- MSN contact list avatars do not update until I view their profile. In fact, they are currently the default silhouette character avatar. I believe this is a problem on my end, because even after restarting the client it still doesn't update...

- Minor complaint: Some graphics are built-in like the scrollbars instead of taking from the .MSSTYLES.

Despite these issues I went ahead and bought a license. Great program other than the minor issues I am having.

Afaik all the graphics are built in on the contact list nothing is natively drawn all goes through the skinning engine, which is why you see the redraw issues. The performance was worse in the previous build so hopefully by final it's will be top notch. Btw what VS is that?

Astra isn't just used to store your connections, you know. Regardless of what you think you've done by logging out of Astra, its still very much storing your login details for all your accounts. It's happening right this second, and you need to accept that. Astra itself is also a chat protocol, just like AIM and MSN. Being signed into it will not affect your use of Trillian in any way whatsoever; people cannot message you through Astra unless you allow them to.

Astra is required because it allows the program to determine whether or not you have a Pro license. Sorry if I seemed rude, but you're just a little bit misinformed on certain parts of Trillian.

I find having astra protocol is a nice back up in the event something like Yahoo or one of the others is down. I have an issue with sending files over AIM since

I moved my ISP (mostly a router issue) but with Astra I can send to him no problems. Again mostly as a backup in the event something else is down :)

Plus if you ever want to use the web version I would imagine you would need this account to log into that, another great backup when you are away from your

PC :)

Astra has ridiculously fast file transfers. It's also got full voice/camera chat, which is fantastic, and even includes drawing support (I have a tablet). I prefer Astra over everything because it's never failed me.

No, you don't seem rude. I misunderstood the Astra service. I think the thing that confused me was that it was listed amongst all the other services (Facebook, MSN, Twitter, etc), and I didn't "use" the Astra protocol so naturally (ignorantly) I disabled it. And when I did, the program warned me that I was disconnected from the Astra service. Oh well, I'll learn to live with it now that I know what Astra provides.

@mail: It's my own modification to Aero theme :)

@sullysnet: Cool features, I will have to look into it.

It's definately strange to people, most people don't realize Astra is actually a chat protocol itself. Give it a shot, I think yuo'll find it very featured :)

@-KJ: The only issue that I'm having is how redraws the window whenever there's a new tab added to a tabbles window. But as mail said, this might be ironed out in the final release, which is what I'm hoping for :p

Also, got a link to that wallpaper? :)

at least you ask which is cool :) most people would just run away :)

Anyone know if there's a roadmap for version 5.0 of any long term/features plans they have?

not sure if something is listed on the site or forum but it would be a neat idea if they did post a roadmap. Sign up

over there and post a thread. It would be interesting to see their reply.

The new WLM betas look quite nice, though with the minimal view. Fits in with the Windows Live theme and has a bit of metro in it too.

I suppose it's all subjective. I just never seem to have a good user experience with WLM every time I try to use it.

I finally got around to trying Trillian 5, and I like it a lot! It's a huge improvement over Astra, whose interface I hated due to being too crowded and confusing. I do have 2 questions though:

1. Is support for audio and video chats over AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc only in the pro version? I didn't see a button for it in the convo windows.

2. When checking my hotmail e-mail, is there a way to make Trillian launch Windows Live Mail instead of my default browser going to hotmail's site? I much prefer Window Live Mail over the web version.

I could be wrong, but even in Astra audio and video chats were supported by Yahoo only. But as for v5, I have no idea.

That's correct. But it was always "planned"... Hopefully it will happen for Trillian 5, because that is one feature that seems to be a big deal to a lot of people. I myself don't "cam" with people ever really, but it's confusing to only have it available for one service anyhow... I'm sure it's still on the list of things to do though...

There are some people that I do audio/video with over MSN, so it'd be nice if the feature was in Trillian as well so that I wouldn't have to keep going back to the official client just for that one feature. It would certainly help me switch to Trillian full time since I'm not happy with the direction Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 is going so far. I know it's still in beta and all, but if Trillian 5 is anything to go by, then it looks like a winner to me.

New beta released:

Trillian for Windows: Improvements and fixes! (5.0 Build 26)

We?re back again with an update to Trillian for Windows, Build 26. A few important fixes went into this build, including the resolution of a major Facebook contact cloning bug and a fix for CPU spin after computer hibernation. Minimalists can enjoy an even slimmer contact list than before with our new collapsible Trillian button, and you can now Tweet again from the contact list directly. We are continuing our behind-the-scenes efforts at finalizing the new activity history and will have more to share in the coming builds. It?s very important that we launch this feature in a reasonably stable state so we?re taking the time to work out as many bugs as we can in advance.

More fixes in the changelog ? enjoy the new build!

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets another hotfix for one of the game's online modes by Taras Buria Recently, Forza Horizon 6 players discovered an interesting glitch that allowed farming a crazy amount of in-game credits in a few minutes. Playground Games quickly pulled the plug on the exploit by disabling one of the game's online modes, and today, the studio is rolling out another hotfix. In my review, I complained about the game still showering gamers with cars, credits, and wheelspins. As such, earning money in Forza Horizon 6 is not a particularly difficult task. You simply have to play the game, crazy, I know. However, people still found an easier path to becoming a billionaire in Forza Horizon 6. All you had to do was purchase the Hummer EV, install a specific tune, shift in reverse while going at about 15 MPH, hit a wall, and get launched into the stratosphere at the speed of light. While mid-air, launch Eliminator and quickly get eliminated. Boom, the game just awarded you with a few million in-game credits. Initially, Playground Games disabled Eliminator to prevent people from farming credits. Now, following the release of the first balancing update, developers are rolling out a new update that re-enables Eliminator and gives users a free McLaren Sabre as a gesture of goodwill. Here is the changelog: One critical issue remains unpatched, though. There are quite a few reports of the game wiping gamers' saves, and developers are still looking into that. To avoid potential data loss, Playground Games recommends taking one of the steps outlined in a previously published support article.
