[Beta Channel] Google Chrome 7.0.xxx.xx (for Linux, Mac OS X, Windows)

Recommended Posts

My chrome just updated itself. Is it just me or does it really seem superfast? Something like 60x i think that was going around about a month ago?

Nah it's not just you. I hit restart once it had installed the update and it was at my homepage in a flash.

No isn't working fine. Hardware configuration and the size of your browser window plays a huge part ;)

Fullscreen window, exact same score... and its a MASSIVE difference from those scores. Those show clearly hardware accel isnt working right on your specific hardware or something.

Good call mate, trawled through my settings and corrected them...

Not working for me either.

Might be NVIDIA users need newer drivers. I'm currently on 260 beta drivers and have no hardware acceleration in Chrome.

Are you launching Chrome with "--enable-gpu-plugin --enable-gpu-rendering --enable-accelerated-2d-canvas --enable-video-layering --enable-webgl --enable-fastback" ?

*webgl should be automatic but it probably doesn't hurt to force it on anyway.

Not working for me either.

You probably didn't add the flags (like me!)

Add these flags to Chrome...

--enable-accelerated-compositing --enable-gpu-plugin --enable-gpu-rendering --enable-accelerated-2d-canvas --enable-video-layering --enable-webgl --enable-fastback

I have an Nvidia card as well and it worked for me. Just make sure you have the flags posted above in your shortcut.

Ok my Chrome (dev) is actually very strange. All the stuff that used to work on the IE test drive no longer work property. The Psychedelic Browsing used to work perfectly, but now it stays a blank page. When I try to refresh, the page crashes. The Video Kaleidoscope test runs (as in it shows the FPS tab), but the rest of the page stays black. The HTML5 Youtube videos used to work, but now they play only the sound and some don't run at all.

Yes, I do have all the flags turned on.

I got the latest driver for my Radeon 3650 HD card, but nothing's changed.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Could be that your previous update got a bit messed up, I'd save all your bookmarks etc and then reinstall Chrome.

Hope that helps..

    • Zen Browser 1.20.2b by Razvan Serea Zen Browser is a privacy-focused, open-source web browser built on Mozilla Firefox, offering users a secure and customizable browsing experience. It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. Community-Driven: Active development and feedback from users. GitHub Repository: Contribute and review the source code. Zen Browser 1.20.2b changelog: Security Mozilla Security Advisory 2026-54 New Features Updated to Firefox 151.0.3 Boosts now support a dark mode UI based on your system dark mode setting. • Looks the same as the Air, actually. Check it out in person.
    • "This transition will take several years so we shouldn't bother doing it at all" is a naive take. This is completely normal for all specifications that cross-cut software, hardware and multiple industries. Look at the PCI specification for another example, consumers barely have PCI-E 5 yet PCI-SIG is working on PCI-E 8. AV2 will take multiple years to get adoption and even then, even a decade from now people will still have older hardware that doesn't support it. That's fine, because the savings still add up as newer devices add the hardware to deal with it. The goal is never to get 100% on the new spec overnight, but to gradually adopt it.
