Tomoko
I'm beginning to think Microsoft_Bob is trolling us. His posts are just too foolish to believe.
Code149
I know what you mean, like the futuristic feeling that Vista gives with its theme design; I'm with you about the modern blue color around the borders and on the taskbar mixed nicely with a great black hue.Though apart from some visual details (which is subjective) and a few tiny bugs , Seven is ahead of Vista in about all other respects. Calum Veteran Posted October 13, 2010 Veteran Share Posted October 13, 2010 I know you've gone back to 7 now, but I just have to say: I could never go back to Windows Vista, for 2 reasons: The awfully annoying and cluttering labels next to taskbar icons and the annoying restriction of not being able to make taskbar icons larger. thechronic
The amount of machines i've had to 'fix' because they came shipped with Vista Basic and 512mb ram is unreal. A quick format, Windows 7 and voila! Performance issues solved.
~Johnny
(snipped) cause it is??obvious??of the changes?? specially when ya compare side by side windows vista vs 7 and look at??the DWM usage that they made some big changes under the hood for the better. also?? if you ever headed over to?? msdn channel 9?? here is some videos with the Developers??of windows 7 and differant parts of it just as an example http://channel9.msdn...io-capabilities???? whats new in the windows 7 audio stack??API sub system http://channel9.msdn...artup-Animation http://channel9.msdn...e-Scheduler-UMS????<<< to do with threading and CPU and multi-core http://channel9.msdn...Dispatcher-Lock???????? Arun's work directly benefits the overall performance of Windows running on many processors and means, http://channel9.msdn...ound-Processing????The great work in the Windows 7 service controller by Chittur and team has a direct impact on the performance of Windows 7. Tune in to learn about the details and history of the service controller (and Task Manager). http://channel9.msdn...s-7-Audio-Stack???????????? , Architect Elliot H Omiya, Principal Software Developer Larry Osterman and Principal Software Developer Frank Yerrace take us through the details of Windows 7 audio, including some history, some design decisions, TO be fair, although these changes might effect usability or memory consumption for the better, I was just pointing out, very little of them actually *improve* system speed noticeably on fast system over Vista. Apart for boot up time, general day to day usage is close enough to be perceived the same for most things between the two. The vast majority of changes introduced in 7 were tweaks or additions of things over Vista.?

Those are exactly the default settings that I have turned off in Seven, it's the same as Vista for me. :p As for the performance, I haven't noticed much improvement in 7 compared to Vista SP2 on 2 gigs of RAM, it's pretty much as fast as Vista for me, but then I rarely play games and always try to minimize the memory footprint by closing/shutting down unnecessary applications and services.
