Is it a good game, worth buying it?

At first I downloaded it (via "sources") played it for 30 minutes, uninstalled it, logged onto steam, bought it, reinstalled, still playing, so much fun stuff to do, I recommend joining the thieves guild, a very good side story

anybody got a good Armor along the lines of the Nightingale Prime Armor, the author took his down as people kept stealing it into their own armor mods ( understandable why he would take it down )

and ended up loosing the file when i reloaded, so looking for a replacement

I've got both version of that armor in zip if you want me to sent it to you. I've also got his other armor called Cannibal Lord which looks nice and evil, but is only for male characters.

And here's a really nice retex of the elven armor. Nightingale is light armor so you might be interested in this, too:

And if you're using heavy armor this is the nicest retex I've seen for Daedric armor:

This one is also really nice:

I personally use the evil incarnate verison but with the weapons from the second one.

main reason i liked the Nightingale and Nightingale Prime was due to the Cowl and Cloak/Black. might take you up on the Prime 2.0 file as so far not seeing anything coming close quality wise

anyone have any iea when patching will start for fixing bugged quest ? i have 4 or 5 that i can't continue with because they are budded out .. i have googled the quest and it seem its an on going thing .

still love the game just want the bugs fixed

Probably never. Bethesda isn't really known for fixing bugs in their games from what I can remember. If you're playing on the pc version you'll most likely have to wait until the community fixes it when the CK is released.

I have a question that I hope you all can help me with :) I've read a few things about people selecting perks and then later regretting it but not being able to make a change back.

What is the best way to use the perks? I have a shed load, don't think that I've used a single once since I started to play.

I'm concentrating on light armour, archery and one handed.

What do you think?

I'm not sure what you mean by you have lots and haven't used them? Most of them are passive and you're using them no matter if you realize it or not. That's why they are called perks and not skills or abilities.

The only ones that you actually "use" are the crafting perks, and maybe some of the attack ones late in the weapon trees.

Ah maybe I wasn't clear :p What I mean was that I had loads of points to spend on perks, that I hadn't used. Are there any that we worth investing in?

Definitely. If you're using light armor and one handed weapons, invest in those. Enchanting is definitely worth investing in, so is armor smithing. Alchemy is another one worth looking as well. It's hard to say just put your points into a certain thing, though.

Thank you ^ :) If anybody else wants to throw in there two cents feel free. Can't wait to put some more hours in :D

Perks are an important part of the game. What level are you? I'm surprised anyone would just stockpile them, as there is no advantage in doing so.

I have points into sneaking, archery, lockpicking, pickpocket, enchanting, smithing, 1 hand, shield, heavy armor... Maybe more, the trees are diverse... All perk trees, and the individual perks in them, can be extremely useful, depending on your play style. For example, once your a high enough level in lockpicking and you have the prerequisites filled out, you can have a greater chance of finding valuable items in chests and receive more gold. Smithing can allow the creation of dragon armors and others. Sneaking can allow damage multipliers for attacks while hidden. Pickpocketing can increase the amount of carry weight you have. The 1 handed weapon tree can increase damage, add % of critical strikes, and add new attacks. Enchanting can drastically increase the usefulness of weapons, armors, and rings. There are many perks available, they all have their own uses.

Look into the perks that come later in each tree and use those perk points!

P.S. - If your playing on PC, it isn't very hard to reset your perks to use them all again.

I'm running 35 seperate mods through NMM, 60 hours so far, this game is one of the best I've played in a long time. The Deadly Dragons mod is a must for level 40+ characters.

I'm level 16 at the moment, and I spend a good half an hour spreading out the perk point that I had collected up :s After looking through all the trees I can see what you mean.

I have another question now, when you use perk points for say increased damage with one-handed can you see the effect of the perk when scrolling through the weapons? Where can the perk effect be seen?

I'm pretty sure it will directly read on the weapon damage when you view it after you apply the points, if it fits the perk description.

I use the 1 handed and sword perks and my 1 handed sword damages read much higher than the rest.

Patch 1.4 is now live for pc users (aprox. 200mb download) and will be released shortly for the consoles as well. It's just waiting for them to do their thing with it first.

Eventually we'll be able to download mods directly through steam from here, for pc users only:

http://steamcommunit...workshop/skyrim

Though I have no idea how popular it will be compared to the nexus website that is already established. If it works well I'll definitely use it because the video makes it look more seamless than downloading mods through the nexus.

It would be hard for me to abandon Nexus at this point. They've done such an amazing job and I have many mods already up and running exactly how I want them to be. I realize the mod community has been looking forward to using the dev tools but I don't see this being a quick process. I'm hesitant to upgrade to 1.4, I have 0 issues with the game as it is.

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.
