Well, it is worth a try anyway. I know my local office will occasionally let you do it if you come up with a good excuse (tell them you are leaving this weekend to go out of town for a couple of weeks or something, which is believable since it is so close to Christmas). Just let them know that you were not expecting the package to arrive as early as it did and that you really need to pick it up today.

So I called up UPS and gave them the InfoNotice Number. They couldn't tell me where the package was shipped from because they could only tell me certain things. I asked if I can pick it up today. Just got a call from UPS saying that I can either pick it up tonight between 8-9pm or tomorrow between 11-3pm.

I highly doubt this is the netbook as the tracker site doesn't show any being shipped to my zip (there was one shipped on the 3rd batch and that was already delivered).

To quote a lovely movie: "You should never doubt what no-one is sure about."

As we've pointed out the Tracker isn't quite as effective anymore as the reference numbers are random now so, it could be a notebook that just hasn't been picked up by the algorithms. It might be something totally different but, you never know!

I got home to find a package on the stoop in front of my door, i excitedly ran to the door just to find it was medical supplies.... damn you UPS

don't feel bad ups came thinking maybe it was from google but somebody sent me a birthday card with a check

      We have disabled advertising in the forums for now for an undetermined period. If you feel like you get a lot of value out of the site please do whitelist ads on the news articles, and/or consider getting a subscription, we offer two tiers, one at: $14 per year (support the site for just over a dollar a month) or the $28/year tier (just over $2/month) that disables advertising and affiliate link tracking throughout the site (so also on the news side). We also have a 'Buy us a coffee' page if you just want to make a one-time donation. I am not mincing words when I say it is becoming harder and harder to monetize publications like Neowin, it's a fact of life that when we can no longer afford to pay for everything we'll go like many other sites already have. It doesn't have to cost you anything There are other ways to support Neowin too, like posting on topic content in the forums (technical support/questions/helping others) and sharing our news articles.. this costs nothing but your time and is just as important as subscribing or making a monetary donation!
