Meet Firefox 5.0

Recommended Posts

i feel obligated to give minefield nightly another round :ermm: :sleep2: *sigh*

I'm sticking to Firefox 4.0 stable for the time being. I'm fairly happy with it, moreso with the Windows version than with the OS X version. Switching to Firefox 5 can wait until it hits beta.

what score does it get on html5test.com?

I assume it'd be the same as 4.0, apart from some small CSS compliance issues, it's mainly been bugfixes and optimisations landing.

Back on the nightlies.

Haha, I totally agree, thats the only reason I was waiting for the release of 4.0, it feels like something is missing from my day if I don't have to download a nightly build of Firefox.

The first titles for Meet Firefox 4 were also 3.7a1pre ??

extensions.checkCompatibility.4.2a boolean false

This is no longer in the about:config list of 4.2a1pre . So is there another way in 4.2a1pre to force the extensions?

It's not there by default. You have to add it.

-Download the .xpi file from the Addon

-Rename the .xpi file to a .zip file

-Open it with winrar or 7zip

-unzip the install.rdf and open it with an editor

-find the entry like <em:maxVersion>4.0</em:maxVersion> (either on top or bottom)

-change it to 4.2a1pre or 4.x

-Save the file and put it back to the zip file and overwrite the existent file.

-rename the .zip file back to .xpi and install it.

In a new tab, type "about:config" without quotes and hit enter.

Then rightclick a blank spot in the page -> New -> Boolean -> (write/paste) "extensions.checkCompatibility.4.2a" (without quotes) -> set to False -> restart Minefield -> done

I got it from the Mozillazine forum. Credit goes to that person who posted it but I couldn't find the post because that forum was down for quite a while!
