The only problem is that the thumbnails are not updating if you do it like that. Can anyone confirm this?

I've had this problem ever since they first landed the new tab page, and it doesn't just happen to manually added pages. certain websites just refuse to generate thumbnails for me (gmail for example). other websites I have to load like 5 times before the dumb thing generates a thumbnail.

I guess I'm spoiled by opera's speeddial, but this implementation needs a LOT of work, and I don't think it was even ready to include in ff13 :p

couldn't agree with you more on that acquisition. opera's speed-dial and firefox's addon fast-dial are the two best implementations, the current firefox implementation really seems half-assed

Is there a bug for flash on nightly? Areo Peek still doesn't work for me when there's a YouTube video on the tab in focus. It works just once, right after switching to that tab, but doesn't after that, until the user switches to another tab and back to the YouTube video again. After doing that, it works once, but fails in the 2nd and subsequent attempts.

EDIT:

Actually it seems like it's limited to just YouTube videos... .

Can't seem to reproduce this with latest nightly and flash.Aero peek works all the time while im on the tab with the video running.I even selected the video window(clicked on it to get the focus on the flash window itself) and still got aero peek working all the time.Maybe an addon issue?

Oh no. I'm sorry, I meant Aero snap. It still happens with a clean install.

Are you trying it on a YouTube page? That seems to be the one place it happens. For example, I tried Aero snap on a Vimeo page, and it works just fine. Actually, even an embedded YouTube video doesn't affect Aero snap either. But for some reason it doesn't work if it's a video that's actually on YouTube's site.

Well i just tried snapping Nightly to both sides and the top multiple times with single tab ruining youtube video(was reffering to youtube video in my previous post too) and again can't seem to reproduce the inability to snap multiple times with YT video running in focused tab. Also tried with two tabs and snapping with the YT video one focused and again cant reproduce it(tho i had to widen the window a bit since i got no place to hold and unsnap the window.

Thanks very much for your input. If this is the case, then I'm stumped. Because it happens to me even on a clean install. It only started to happen when I updated Flash to the latest version.

Just a couple more questions:

First, are you running the latest version of Flash, and trying it on a YouTube page (As opposed to an embedded video on another site.)

And second, how would I report this glitch?

Yes im using latest flash and nightly, tho i use the workaround to disable flash's protected mode for the 11.3 version.May be that is the cause of your problem. And yes tested it on youtube site.I guess you have to report it on bugzilla.I haven't made any reports yet,so can't help you with instructions on how to do it.

Wow, it looks like that's exactly the problem. Disabling protected mode fixed the issue.

I don't really like how I have to compromise on security just to get Aero Snap working, but protected mode was apparently the cause.

Thanks for all your help. :) .

Happy to help.Btw there are topics about other issues too with that version like crashing more than previous version or videos not playing(havent encountered any of those yet).In the mozillazine forum i read about flash creating empty crash reports too.Oh and idk if you noticed, but with protected mode when you start a flash video you lose the focuse of the browser. The loss of browser focus was the main reason i disabled protected mode. And i've been using FF+Flash for years and haven't had a flash breach yet,so im not that concerned about that.Ofc the extra layer of pretection can't hurt, but untill they fix those issues im willing to go without it.

PS:You can see the mozilla articles about some of the issues here and here.

The fact that some addons/plugins and the latest Nightly don't work well is to be expected and doesnt mean that Nightly 16 is bad.Infact it seems to get better all the time for me.And i very rarely have any major issues if at all.

When the add on states that it is compatible with 16 then it should work well with 16. Fx 16 has many features that I am not concerned with. I just happen to believe that 15 is a better browser and I will ride to final. I am going to be 64 soon and getting to old for this testing stuff anyway. I am getting to the point where I just want it to work. :)

One of the Mozilla developers is now offering a (Windows-only) test build of Firefox with the Australis tabs. Doesn't look half bad imho. Screenshot:

Pretty sweet :p. And even though I thought that the Tabs would have looked like Google Chrome, I better have a second thought!

Australis looks pretty good ^ :)

Why on earth are you using the nightly version of Firefox if you're going to unconstructively complain when stuff breaks? Of course 15 is a 'better' browser, because it's stable. It doesn't have major stuff changing from day-to-day. Every addon is not tested every single day to check that day's changes didn't affect it - apart from being a technical nightmare, it would be a complete waste of time 99.9% of the time.

I feel like you may be misunderstanding the way the channels work? There's Release, Beta, Aurora and Nightly channels - once you install one, you stay on it. You won't 'ride' 15 to final, unless you are for some reason installing Nightly, then Aurora, then Beta, then Release as 15 moves down the channels every 6 weeks. Frankly, that would be a silly approach.

Most sensible: pick a channel, and stay with it. Aurora seems like a good bet for you: it's pretty stable, but still an early preview - personally, I am on Aurora, and rarely encounter any issues.

    • Dell, HP PCs ran into endless reboot, BitLocker recovery loops but Windows 11 isn't to blame by Sayan Sen Last month Neowin reported on a major issue on Dell systems wherein a bug in its official support tool was leading to endless blue screen of death (BSOD) and restarts. Following our report, Dell officially acknowledged its SupportAssist-related crash issue, confirming that the culprit is not Microsoft's operating system but rather a faulty version of its own remediation software. In a newly published support advisory, Dell stated that version 5.5.16.0 of Dell SupportAssist Remediation and Alienware SupportAssist Remediation can trigger blue screen errors and unexpected system restarts. The company notes that the problematic component operates independently of the main SupportAssist application, meaning users should not remove the primary SupportAssist software when troubleshooting the issue. According to Dell, the crashes are linked specifically to the SupportAssist Remediation service, which is bundled with SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools, and as such it has since released an updated version, 5.5.16.1, which is said to resolve the problem. Affected users are advised to first verify whether version 5.5.16.0 is installed by checking the Installed Apps section in Windows Settings. If so, Dell recommends updating SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools through either SupportAssist's "Update Software" feature or Dell Command Update. Dell also advises users to back up important data before performing the update and to ensure systems remain connected to power throughout the installation process. If you are still having issues though make sure to report to the Dell support forum. As it turns out though Dell is not the only PC maker currently dealing with update-related headaches as HP is also facing a separate but probably equally frustrating issue involving recent Windows Secure Boot updates that were released with recent Windows 11 Patch Tuesdays. Similar to Dell, HP also put up its own support article where it explains the issue. The company says that affected devices could hit a brick wall when booting as they run into a BitLocker recovery loop after the April 2026 updates. The problem appears to affect systems wherein the new UEFI Secure Boot CA 2023 certificates fail to apply properly. As such affected users will find themselves entering their recovery key over and over again despite the system otherwise functioning normally. HP says such PCs should be updated to the latest available BIOS version and configured with the necessary Secure Boot certificates before installing Microsoft's Windows 11 Patch Tuesday updates. Systems that are already experiencing the problem may require BIOS configuration changes to restore normal boot behavior. Admins can find information regarding that in the support article here on HP's official website.
    • Getting further away from the artistic study of mental disease that was the first game... (which never needed any sequels to begin with) But I get it, a company has to make money. And the second was at least visually impressive, if not in any other way.
    • If its the devs fault you would think Unreal would help M$ take full advantage of Unreal and work with them to fix the performance issues. Otherwise they are catching unwarranted bad press.
    • Thanks for the advice guys, I'll give my current GPU a clean and then run the benchmarks to see how similar it is. Hopefully a bit of a clean-out will help it last a bit longer.
