Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched a new service called Amazon AppFlow today. It is designed to ease custom integrations by automating the flow of data between Software as a Service (SaaS) applications and AWS services.
AppFlow sets up a duplex connection to AWS services, allowing data to be sent and received in either direction. To ensure security during the transmission and exchange, data is encrypted while in motion and stays on the Amazon network rather than the public internet. If the SaaS applications support it, security can be further enhanced by AWS PrivateLink, which provides private connectivity between VPCs, AWS services, and on-premises applications on the Amazon network. Other standard features include the ability to schedule data transfers, automatic scaling, and the ability to transfer a maximum of 100 GB in a single flow.
AppFlow currently supports S3 and 13 SaaS applications as sources of data, and S3, Amazon Redshift, Salesforce, and Snowflake as destinations. The service is currently available in Northern Virginia, Ohio, Northern California, Oregon, Central, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Seoul, Mumbai, Paris, Ireland, Frankfurt, London, and São Paulo. Availability is set to expand in the future.
