Apple iPad app glitch delays American Airlines flights

About 24 American Airlines flights have been affected, with some forced back to the gate by a glitch in the Apple iPad app used by pilots to hold critical maps and flight plan information.

An Apple iPad app used by pilots has caused delays for American Airlines with about 24 flights affected by the glitch that is forcing aircraft to return back to the gate.

American Airlines spokesperson Casey Norton confirmed that pilots have been experiencing issues with the iPad app which holds critical maps and flight plan information. In some cases, pilots were able to resolve the issue, but others were forced to return the aircraft to the gate.

The airline said the cause of the glitch is not known and that the issue is not a system-wide problem affecting a specific type of aircraft, despite reports on social media on the contrary.

Responding to angry customers on Twitter, American Airlines said that it is working on the issue and it is doing everything possible to find a fix for the problem.
