Apple TV app and Apple TV+ arrives on select 2019 LG TVs

LG has announced that the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ is now available on compatible 2019 LG smart TVs in over 80 countries. With the app and an Apple TV+ subscription, you can watch Apple Originals including “The Morning Show”, “See”, “Servant”, and “Little America”.

The announcement comes after LG introduced its 2020 smart TV range pre-loaded with Apple TV back in January. 2019 LG TVs that support Apple TV include all of LG’s 2019 OLED TVs, NanoCell TVs (series SM9X and SM8X), and later this month, the app will be available on select UHD TVs (UM7X and UM6X). The firm’s 2020 TVs will have the app at launch while several 2018 LG TVs will get the app as part of an over-the-air firmware upgrade later this year.

Commenting on the news, Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company, said:

“LG continues to offer the best home entertainment experience through technological innovations that support the delivery of high quality viewing and user convenience. By bringing the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ to even more TV models, we are once again demonstrating our determination to meet consumers’ needs and add value to our products.”

Once you’ve updated your LG TV, the Apple TV app will be accessible from the LG Home Launcher. Aside from Apple TV, the 2019 LG TVs also support AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit which allow you to utilise other internet-connected devices.
